The absolute rudest owner I have ever encountered. We asked PRIOR to sitting if it was alright for us to bring our coffees in and got the ok. The cafe owner (who only shares the space) proceeded to berate us, curse us out, and had the audacity to tell us that we were being rude. When I politely offered for us to put our drinks away, he said that it didn't matter because we were already being disrespectful (after cursing us out). He then proceeded to horribly yell at the very kind waitress who had taken our order. Come to find out, he only profits if we order his watered down coffee (I would know, I had to force myself to finish his overpriced latte the first time I came here). I've been coming to Puerto Escondido all of my life to visit family and have never had an experience like this in my life. We pride ourselves on being kind and hospitable, so it's unfortunate but unsurprising that a white gentrifier who has come to profit off of Puerto's natural beauty would stray from this norm. It deeply saddens me to see such a beautiful place plagued by disrespectful, entitled leeches like this man. Although I hope he reevaluates the way he treats others, I know his inflated sense of ego won't let him. The best I can do is to warn potential patrons of his shitty coffee and bad attitude. Please support local-owned businesses instead of this bitter white old man. read more

Genuinly the worst service I received while on this vacation. Made the experience so unpleasant that we left and cancelled our order. The owner was so incredible rude and disrespectful, in addition to the coffee we had the prior day being truly disgusting. The owner threw out curse words and disrespectful remarks (asked us what world we were from) just because we brought a coffee from another place. Craziest part is, we were sitting at the neighboring papi bowls, not even cafe choc, so for the owner to disrespect us at a different restaurant just for sitting near his was beyond unbelievable. I would never recommend this to anybody read more

FANTASTIC! Our family of four--2 kids, ages 11 & 17, plus my husband and I just had lunch here. Apparently, they told us Papi Bowls & Café Choc merge at lunch? Well, it's a perfect combo! I had the AMAZING Papi Surf bowl, we had a tropical smoothie, a beach bum smoothie, 2 chicken panini--all was DELICIOUS! Service was friendly and fast. We all loved it. We were hungry & hot, straight off the beach & this place even had lovely sea breezes as we ate. 10/10. read more

Cozy, spacious cafe serving up mainly pies and cakes and coffees. I had an iced americano and my husband a macchiato. I ordered the Diablo (chocolate upon chocolate cake), and he had the pecan pie. My cake was moist, rich, velvety, everything good. Our drinks were mixed nicely, and tasted great. The pecan pie didn't really meet my husband's expectations, but hey, that's just an excuse to go back and try something new!! LOVE! My husband and I stopped in here for coffee while waiting in line for breakfast next door. Oh my gosh. We got the coffee and orange cake special for 60 pesos... Three dollars... And we had the most rich and delicious cup of coffee paired with a large slice of delectable orange cake. It tasted like one of those orange cornmeal cakes, and it was scrumptious! They have juices and smoothies here too so we are going back to have our breakfast here tomorrow and honestly I can't wait. Apparently they donate a lot of profits from this place to community organizations and charities -- Another great reason to pay this place a visit. read more

This is a great place to relax and hang out! There is wifi, the coffee is delicious, and the chocolate cake is unbeatable. There are also an incredible amount of books to read.
