The Vorspeise was a mixed plate with some Ethiopian Spring rolls that had a meat filling in them and there was a lentil dish, cous cous and something that looked like spinach. The whole plate lacked seasoning in my opinion and was nice but the flavour was lacking as well. For main we had the Ethiopian national dish which was described as Scharf in the menu and it was two chicken drumsticks in a sauce with a boiled egg. The dish arrived in a big plate that we could all eat from and that was a nice concept. The bread that came with the dish was how you ate the food and you use your hands. There was no heat in the dish and again the flavour was slightly bland and lacked seasoning. I had the Ethiopian Honey Beer for a drink and I think that was the favourite part of my meal. It is in the neighbourhood so I will come back but I must admit it did not wow me in any way.

But frankly the restaurant wasn't upto my expectation. Partly because I was hoping to try something new! Ethiopian food quite surprisingly was very similar to indian cuisine, particularly south indian cuisine. Injera is very similar to South Indian Dosa albeit a bit sour. We tried sambusa and begwot (the spicy variety) but both the items didn't excite me at all. Sambusa is similar to any chinese spring roll minus the vegetables while begwot felt like eating lamb with dosa. I didn't find it spicy but the preparation was very similar to my home-made lamb curry. I must point out that this was a very personal experience and other fellow foodies might love this food as it brings with it a new eating experience (eating with hands) and a new taste.

Instead of music just playing in the background the owner picks songs off of YouTube. He has a projector to show the video up on the wall. The owners might have changed but the food and service is still great. Gyros was a huge portion for less than 10 Euro. You would think the quality to be lacking but it was excellent. Garlic Pita could have been more garlicy, if you are into that make sure to mention it when ordering. Lamb shank was great. All in all a real good choice if you want some hearty food. I will come back here for sure!

The pita was excellent and we also had the Dolmadakia. Here they serve these warm, which we have never liked. But these were SUPER! Very tasty. For entrees we enjoyed the Special Gyro - gyro meat baked with a great sauce and covered with cheese. My wife had gyro and souvlaki - the souvlaki was excellent. I must say I even tasted the grilled chicken breast on the childrens menu entree. It was delicious. So I really cannot offer any poor words and only give Afrodite my highest recommendation. The only sad news is that this restaurant is not in my hometown of Heidelberg!

I had pasta with prawns and seaweed (that's what the menu said) and it was delicious! I would have given the place four stars if it wasn't for the below average service. The waitress didn't really show any interest answering my questions and it was quite hard getting her attention. The prices for the food are not cheap but definitely worth it. The drinks however are certainly overpriced. Specifically the wines and water are way too expensive. The beers are priced in line with the city average ( I guess it's very easy to compare prices on beer in Munich and that's what keeps them low). Overall a nice place that could be great if they at least could improve the service a little.
