The way we found this place was absolutely a matter of chance: we took the wrong turn and in trying to find our way back to the intended route, out of the corner of my eye, I was drawn to quite possibly the greatest truth ever expressed in writing, namely, "Pizza is Life!" With this beaconing sign, I then read the name of the joint, "Cafe Piccolina" and immediately made a mental note to investigate further. Later that day, we took a walk straight to the restaurant. Long story short, we loved it so much, we went back two nights later and the memory of the food, ambiance, and conversation with the owner is still a highlight of our Danish sojourn. The owner tries so hard to make sure that you're taken care of and he makes me miss the pockets of New York I love -- where it is friendly, family-owned, small and offers delicious Italian food. We came in at a busy time and got the tall seating but the owner made room for us at a nice table -- really great pizza with options for those who are vegan / gluten-free. First time in Aarhus visiting friends and gave this restaurant a shot, and made a reservation for a party of nine people. 1) Food is absolutely awesome. 2) Service was excellent with great recommendations on the menu. 3) Owner personally came to our table to make sure we were happy with our food, from first course to last. 4) Pizza is the real deal Italian, perfect crust with toppings to please just about any palate. Our family of four had a variety of pizzas and a salad. Each was prepared with care and used quality ingredients. Incredibly friendly staff, excellent wine, and all of our four plates completely clean after a great meal.
