We had just ordered tapas a few minutes earlier and hadn't finished half a bottle of wine yet. When asked: "Why should we leave so suddenly?" there was only a short, stroppy answer: "You've already overstayed by 5 minutes "Your table will be assigned again from 8 p.m. That's what it says in the email." We then tried to ask in a normal and nice way whether we could stay, because we didn't know that the table had been reassigned and no one had told us in the last 2 hours, even though we still had new food and a bottle of wine have ordered. We were then told again in a very unfriendly manner that we should please get up and leave IMMEDIATELY. We were all really shocked. An evening for four with friends and I tried to politely explain that the reservation confirmation didn't say that we only had the table until 8 p.m. (I checked again afterwards, it wasn't in there!) ... nor was anyone calling us Somehow we were told that evening that we could have skipped it and that we were supposed to "clear the table" at 8 p.m. I was so incredibly sad because we only go out very few times a year and had specially arranged for a babysitter I also didn't understand why we should leave right now. 5 minutes later we were literally thrown out the door and of course had little interest in spending money here. I have NEVER been treated so condescendingly as a guest, I have never experienced that before! I definitely can't recommend this restaurant!

Sehr, sehr schade.

The hosts are super nice and don't just take your order but also give recommendations and make smalltalk. The food is not just the usual tapas you would expect. Would go here again even for special occasions

If you've walked along Gertigstrasse at any point on a beautiful and warm evening you will notice that Deseo is one of two very popular tapas restaurants that are always seemingly buzzing. The vibe here is definitely more upscale than Arcada, just a half block down, and it's also reflected in the prices. The food here is very good though and very much worth a go. A reservation almost seems mandatory when dining on the weekend, and I would highly recommend it. Having made our reservation just a couple days prior, my wife and I studied and salivated over the menu, pretty much knowing exactly what we'd order once we arrived. We started off with complimentary bread, aoili and olives, which all of were great. We then proceeded to order the pimientos de Padrón, goat cheese with potatoes, chorizo, bacon-wrapped dates, prawns in garlic oil, and calamari in garlic oil. Every dish we had was savory and delicious; ones that I would definitely order again. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was very nice here as my wife and I indulged on our "desired" dishes and observed life passing from our window-bar seating.

(Last visited December 6, 2023.) Hanging out in Hamburg, Germany on business and I came here back…read morein January with my wife along with her mother. We really enjoyed ourselves so when I came back 11 months later I vowed to come and explore more of their menu! Here's why I came back... Atmosphere/Appearance: The outside is pretty uneventful as it blends in with the scenery around it, but inside is very bright, yellow, dated and that's kind of the point of this Portuguese-based restaurant. It felt more like a house/apartment that had been converted into a restaurant, but it still worked well. It was cozy and not too noisy inside. Service: Raul is the son of the owner and he was running things that both nights that we dined here. He took excellent care of me and made sure I had everything that I needed. Food: So this is a tapas style restaurant which is my favorite style of eating. It allows you to just sample and try so many different things instead of having to decide on just one big meal. The complimentary bread came out and I attacked it. The butter was so soft, creamy, garlicky and delicious. It was damn-near perfect and had a hint of chives in it. Your breath will be rank after it, but it is what it is. Lol. We started with the shrimp empanadas, which were crispy, creamy, flavorful and just utterly delicious. Next up I tried their wings! They are a bit on the smaller side, but they were crazy flavorful! They're served in a garlic sauce in a clay dish. They were crispy, flavorful, juicy, hot and really impressed me. It was hard to find good wings in Hamburg, but this place nailed them. Next up was the crab bisque that was priced so cheaply I thought it was a scam. Lol. Crab is usually pretty expensive, but I went for it anyway, especially compared to lobster bisque. It was decently creamy, had plenty of crab chunks in it, was temperature hot and there were SO MANY flavors poppin' off in this dish. I was a huge fan. Next up was the quail. I am a HUGE fan of quail, which is just pretty random in itself. Lol. This was a visually appealing dish as well, but it's served with some steamed vegetables alongside and is served with the same garlic sauce the wings came in. Naturally, I loved this dish and the quail was way more tender than the wings were. I was also was able to try a sort of ice cream on my first visit that's actually served in a scallop shell and looked like a scallop, but was sweet, decadent and just a great way to switch to sweet flavors from the savory and salty. Last, but not least, I was able to try their Portuguese tiramisu! Another beautiful dish consisting of sweet cream, cocoa powder sprinkled on top and it was so amazing. The textures were everything. Dense, yet creamy, flavorful and another great way to conclude the dinner. Value: VERY good value in here. Nothing breaks the bank, not even the bottles of wine and everything is priced for like, the average middle-class person to be able to have a good time here exploring the menu. In conclusion, I really enjoyed myself here and you can see why I hit this place up twice in 2 years when I live thousands of miles away. Lol. Make your way here to experience what I did and tell Raul The Hungry Road sent you!

We ordered the lulas (squid) and champignons as tapas. Both were good. For main course we had the whole Dorado which was fried to the exact point in which it is crunchy yet soft inside, maintaining the nice flavor profile. We also had lamb chops which were tasty as well. Service was nice, courteous, and multilingual (Spanish, Portuguese, German) Definitely recommended
