I was so excited to find this cake place on yelp search. I told Tim that I needed a "Jojo Anime…read morethemed cake" for a 10 year old birthday. We picked Vanilla cake with Chocolate Ganache filling. The 8" cake was $75 and the "Happy Birthday Presley" Banner was another $20. When he sent me some photos of a Jojo Anime, one of the photos was very colorful but it had writing on it. I specifically asked him if the wording would be on it as I did not like the wording and you can see he assured me that the wording would not be there. I was excited upon seeing the cake and realized the words were on the photo but its for a 10 year old, I didnt want to make a fuss and it was literally less than an hour before his party. The cake was a huge suggest and tasted delicious. The vanilla cake was very dense (not like store bought) and filling. I was a bit disappointed that the chocolate ganache was only in the center of the top later and felt the filling could have been thicker or went further to ends. But the cake was very tasty. After the party, I was scrolling through his website to do something for my husband's birthday he has a thing for old cars. This is when I noticed that my cake had no 3 D anything. Nothing on the sides of the cake, nothing fancy other than a printed out photo on top. I questioned him about this and he said these cakes are more money. He told me "A typical cake with the decorations and anime would run$75 for the 8 inch" never once did he say if you want little things on the sides of the cake like every single one on his website has it would be more. I am sure the family that ordered the "Frozen" Themed cake most likely did not tell him to put flowers on and a little fondant with the number 5 for her birthday. Tim knew this was for a 10 year olds birthday. I feel for $75 for the cake and $20 for the happy birthday banner. This cake was not $95 worthy. Beware : discuss every little detail. I was hopeful since he only had nicely decorated cakes on his page, I would have gotten the same type of cake. I might still use him in future but will pick out one of his previous cakes and say "Make this exactly" to ensure you get what you want.

I found exactly that at Earth and Sugar--just in time for my birthday! Last minute, my mom suggested I pick up some cupcakes to celebrate. I called Earth and Sugar to ask if they had any Funfetti gluten-free available that day (they didn't, which I totally understand!), but they kindly held three vanilla/vanilla cupcakes for me to grab. When I arrived, I spotted their chocolate chip cookies and couldn't resist trying one. It was incredible--a little sea salt on top, slightly doughy in the middle, and full of flavor. The bakery itself was renovated last year, and it's stunning--more like a chic interior design studio than a typical bakery. And the cupcakes? Absolutely delicious. I usually skip frosting, but theirs is rich, light, and completely irresistible. Overall: Five Stars I'll definitely be back to try the Funfetti next time. I cannot agree with the other reviewers, and am posting this negative review in hopes of helping others. The whole reason I picked Sugar Chef was how they had decorated the cake I offered for inspiration. What they gave me was NOTHING like the inspiration. The only things they got right were the fondant color and chocolate cake. When I pointed this out to the rude person who brought out the cake, she took no responsibility for the errors, and no offer to try to fix the decoration. She only offered to refund the cost and I could leave without a cake...right before we were to bring it for the birthday dinner. This woman had the nerve to place blame on me, saying I wasn't specific in my order. Not only did I discuss what I wanted with Marie, but I put in an email exactly what I wanted, AND provided previous Sugar Chef photos I found online, as to how to decorate and another showing the ganache color. I even discussed dietary concern with buttercream icing as my reason for choosing jam filling. The cake decoration was so pedestrian and could have been done by any reasonably talented grocery store. It had a bunch of same sized roses ringing the bottom of the cake, not around the middle of the cake (as in the inspiration photo). To add insult to injury, there was a lot of buttercream icing in between the layers and very little jam flavor, and although the chocolate cake had a nice flavor, the crumb was very dry. Here is my original email specifying what I was ordering (edited for brevity): 6" chocolate cake Seedless raspberry or strawberry filling Fondant - the pretty blue color, as shown. Due to father-in-laws digestion, he needs to limit his dairy intake, so a lot of buttercream icing would be bad for him. Please use the Sugar Chef image as a reference for putting a decorated band of flowers around the perimeter of the cake, in colors that go with the fondant. Decorate the top with or without additional flowers, with or without "Happy 88th Birthday," or a combo. Most of all, the cake must be delicious. I was so upset, I ended up sending two emails during the celebratory dinner, sharing my dissatisfaction regarding the ordinary decoration that wasn't even placed where I requested, and again when we cut into the cake and I saw the large amount of buttercream. I felt in my rights to ask for compensation on such an expensive cake, solely on those order details not being followed. I didn't even let them know the cake was dry. It's been a week and I've not received an email reply, a call, or simply a credit card refund. Their lack of following specific order details, execution, and taking responsibility has forced this poor review. Shame on them.

Five years ago when she moved to Florida where she made a care er change and she began her baking business by creating custom cakes in her home kitchen. From there she was able to expand out to opening her own shop serving all kinds of baked treats. The adorable pink and white bakery was built by Careli's husband Kevin who also built the selfie booths at So Selfless Selfie Studios in the mall. The bakery cases are stocked with cookies, cakepops, alfajores, cupcakes, pavlova, bread pudding, tres leches, strawberry shortcake, quick breads and volcano cakes made with Venezuelan chocolate. They also sell custom cakes with some examples on display made out of styrofoam. I believe my friend learned about this bakery from Instagram and wanted to check it out while we were in the mall. Although we both really wanted to like our desserts my friend found her cupcakes dry and my cannoli shell was soggy. Cannoli are best when piped fresh and I should have known when they took one already made out of the refrigerator case. The bakery is super cute and I would consider stopping by again. Next time I would try the volcano cake which is one of their best sellers.
