One of the…read morefirst things that stood out to me was that I've been able to get in relatively quickly each time I've called, which has been a refreshing change from other offices where the wait can be months. Dr. Buhalog is incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and approachable. She takes the time to explain everything clearly and makes sure you feel comfortable and informed every step of the way. Her calm, collaborative style really puts you at ease, and you can tell she genuinely cares about her patients. I also really appreciate her expertise and attention to detail. Knowing she has such an impressive background in dermatology and Mohs surgery gives me a lot of confidence in the care I'm receiving. I'm so glad I found her and would highly recommend Dr. Buhalog to anyone looking for a skilled, thoughtful, and compassionate dermatologist.

He clearly cares for his patients especially those who are accustomed to doctors take time, listen, and think through/ discuss options of the needed treatment plan. He is professional, caring, focused and intentional in solving YOUR routine and obscure dermatology conditions. He is so concerned and makes follow up calls checking in and verifying that you are well informed, know the care plan and assure you that he is available and how to get in touch with him after a procedure. All attributes of a "Real" doctor who are few and far between these days. PM

Bad billing practices, MD can't see the forest through the trees…read more Aug 2025, routine visit. Told I am OBLIGATED to have credit card in database otherwise MD REFUSED to see me. I have both Aetna and Blue Shield of CA insurances and I am an existing patient. Told MD that in 2024 I was overcharged and did not want to enter credit card in database. Again, MD REFUSED to see me until credit card was entered into database. MD stated he had over $100,000 in unpaid receipts from 2024...not my problem. I had credit card entered into database and also paid by credit card in person after the visit. I was told to submit receipt to insurances for cost recovery. Less than 3 days post visit: two separate charges for same visit appeared on credit card. MD office overcharged me, as they did in 2024. Visa verified August 2025 overcharges. Neither MD 3rd party billing nor MD office had a record of their overcharge. I have now spent over 1 hour 30 minutes to rectify their error from a 15 min visit. Regardless of quality or continuity of care, alienating immediately-paying well-insured clients is not a sound business practice.

He didn't seem to have the least amount of interest in seeing me. For the follow up, he looked at my finger, which was the reason for my appointment. He said he didn't have any idea about my issue and told me to go to another doctor, then left the room. Usually when doctors can't help patients, they give you a referral to another doctor. He did not. Seemed to care less. Very disappointing. I'm not going back to him ever again. Also, there are no confirmations for any appointments, which is very unusual and disappointing.

Do WHATEVER IT TAKES to have this amazing woman be your dermatologist! As most of us know,…read moredermatological appointments generally need to be at least one month out, often two. New to the area, my daughter was graduating high school the Friday before Memorial Day. She had noticed a blemish on her skin several days earlier and we managed an appt elsewhere for early July. Then the blemish turned into a rash all over her chest and back. While I knew it wasn't life threatening, she was clearly upset and worried and anxious. Worse it was the morning of her special day, one she'd worked towards her whole life. A wonderful counselor at UCSB (where my daughter is now a rising freshman) recommended this place and I left a detailed message imploring them to make room for her same day, but I was not hopeful. And then a lovely young man (Kyle if I recall correctly) called me back and said we could come in! Wow!!! The facility is gorgeous, beautifully decorated in a clean, modern-meets-farmhouse style. We felt so welcomed and then met Dr. Klemperer and fell head over heels in love. She instantly put my daughter at ease and simultaneously made a nervous mother feel validated in some minor hovering and we left a half hour later happy campers. On to watching our calm daughter graduate with Honors!! And how exciting to have found our forever dermatologist! Thank you Dr. Klemperer...

Dr. Sengelman was recommended to me by my trusted dermatologist who no longer does surgery. I was so hesitant as the face is such a delicate area and I didn't want to end up looking like Frankenstein. Dr Sengelman did such a wonderful job at making my scar look seamless. At first I was nervous but the way she did the surgery made it look seamless. I was lucky in that there was only one pass. I highly recommend Dr Sengleman for MOHs surgery. She's very personable as well and helped me feel relaxed during my procedure. Also, I saw some reviews that were a bit negative toward the other staff. I found that everyone working in the office, from the receptionist to the assistants and PA were very kind and knowledgeable.

I have been a patient at this office for several years. I am a 39-year-old registered nurse with a…read morehistory of invasive melanoma and multiple melanoma in situs. I have seen multiple dermatologists and was specifically referred to a physician at this office for her reputation as a leading specialist in this field. My first two appointments, I was very impressed. The medical assistants communicated effectively with the physician and appeared to understand the seriousness and complexity of my medical history. Unfortunately, my experience has steadily declined since then. At my previous appointment, the physician introduced herself by saying, "It's nice to meet you," even though I had seen her multiple times before. I do not expect a physician to personally remember every patient, but I do expect the provider or medical assistant to review the relevant history and previous visit notes before entering the room, especially for a patient with an extensive history. My experience on July 16th (today) was the final straw. My appointment was scheduled for 11:40 a.m. I drove an hour to the office and arrived approximately 15 minutes early. I checked in at the front desk, provided the credit card information required under their new policy, and was told that I was checked in. I asked whether I had time to move my car because I had parked very close to another vehicle in their small parking lot. The front desk employee told me, "Yes, the doctor is running behind, so you have time." I returned to the waiting room by 11:35 a.m., five minutes before my scheduled appointment. After waiting approximately 45 minutes, I was finally taken to an examination room. The medical assistant showed little interest in why I was there and appeared unfamiliar with my medical history. She instructed me to undress and remove my facial makeup because the appointment was for a full-body skin examination and follow-up of an area of precancerous cells on my face. After she left, I could hear her talking with another medical assistant. Eventually, everything became quiet. I remained undressed in the examination room until approximately 12:40 p.m., a full hour after my scheduled appointment time and 1 hour and 15 minutes after my arrival time. I finally stepped into the hallway and told a male medical assistant that I believed I had been forgotten. He told me that everyone was on their lunch break and that he was not sure what had happened. I asked, "They left me waiting undressed in a room while everyone went to lunch?" He confirmed that the staff was at lunch. I returned to the room and got dressed. As I was leaving, he claimed that I had arrived late. I explained that I had arrived 15 minutes early and had been checked in by the front desk. He then said the front desk had not notified the clinical staff that I was there. He also told me that because I was supposedly there for a cosmetic appointment, he could reschedule me for a longer appointment with a different provider. I explained that this was not a cosmetic appointment. I have had melanoma 10 times and was there for a full-body skin examination and follow-up with a melanoma specialist. Before leaving, I explained the situation to the front desk employee, who said she would notify the manager. I then drove an hour back to work after losing several hours for an appointment that never occurred. Approximately five minutes after I left, the medical assistant who had initially taken me to the room called me. She stated that the front desk had marked me as a no-show and acknowledged that she had placed me in an examination room after the doctor had already gone to lunch. She also admitted that she should have told me. To summarize, I arrived early, was confirmed as checked in, waited approximately 45 minutes in the lobby, and was then left undressed in an examination room for another 30 minutes while the physician and staff went to lunch. No one informed me of the mistake, explained the delay, or checked on me. I have no idea how long I would have remained there had I not stepped into the hallway myself. The lack of communication, awareness of my medical history, and basic professional courtesy was unacceptable. Because I work in healthcare and have an extensive history of skin cancer, people frequently ask me for dermatologist recommendations. Based on this experience and the decline in care I have observed over time, I will no longer recommend this office. This was an extraordinarily unprofessional and concerning experience.

First of all, Novatt had some of the worst bedside manner I've ever experienced with a doctor. Really impressively poor. I remember when I switched to Frucht, it was night and day. Frucht was so warm, so kind, so patient, and super respectful. If it weren't for Frucht, I'd have left the practice. Let me say first, I believe, wholeheartedly, that Dr. Frucht is a great doctor. He knows his stuff, he's incredibly intelligent, and I really can't say a single bad thing about his ability to treat skin effectively. Unfortunately, his personality as a doctor has really changed since I first began seeing him. He's still very respectful, however I get the sense that he's become a bit jaded. I used to feel like I had his full attention and all the time in the world. I used to feel like he really, truly cared about me as an individual. As the years have passed though, I've felt less and less like I matter. I've noticed myself feeling more and more like a number on a page -- he's in and out, totally rushed. If I have a question he's almost literally one foot out the door while I'm talking. There's no warmth anymore. He's still friendly, but it feels less intimate and genuine. Like he's a bit detached. I don't know, maybe he's just burned out. It does seem like they have a pretty substantial patient load. I agree with many of the other reviewers here regarding the front desk. They're awful. Unfriendly, short, no sympathy for patients. I called once to let them know I was stuck in traffic and would be 5 minutes late. They said 5 was okay, but anymore and they'd have to cancel my appointment. I got to the office exactly 5 minutes late but the person at the desk was on the phone. By the time they hung up it was 7 minutes late and they said they would have to cancel because it was 7 past. Insane. Also, good luck getting an appointment if it wasn't booked out months in advance...even if it's an urgent reason. They don't care at all. Between the horrible office staff and Dr. Frucht becoming more and more jaded, I've made the decision to find care elsewhere. I'm truly grateful to Dr. Frucht for the care he's given me over the years -- there's no doubt he's a good doctor and i think a good person. I really hope he finds his way back to how he was.

We drove 45 mins to get there and we were 4 minutes late in which we called to let them know. We were placed on hold for a very long time. I said ok we are within that time . They said no sorry. I said we drove 45 minutes to be here and my daughter is going back to school out of state in a few days. I was very disappointed and not once when I scheduled the appointment did they say arrive extra early . Never in my life have I been rejected from an appointment for 4 minutes late I would not recommend this establishment
