I contacted David who scheduled me in for an appointment the day after Christmas. He had to reschedule me since he overbooked himself and my time slot was replaced by another customer. Atleast he gave me a few hours notice for this reschedule and he was apologetic about the inconvenience. Ale arrived on the Saturday day after our original booking and was very friendly and professional. He rung my doorbell exactly on the dot and walked inside with booties to inspect and tape off our fireplace. We mentioned how we needed a chimney cap and they happened to have an extra one in their vehicle to install at a reasonable price but unfortunately we didn't think the design fit our needs well so we just committed to the clean up. The job was done in about 45 minutes and we were happy with Ale's work. We recieved a few bids from other competitors but went with David due to his promptness and reasonable pricing. Once again, we never used this fireplace in the past. We just needed the leaves and debris removed and we got exactly that for a great price in a timely manner especially after the holidays. Our dryer works efficiently now! The other night I was awakened by the smell of burning. I turned on the dryer before I went to bed to hopefully have dry clothes when I got up in the morning. Instead, I quickly turned off the dryer and opened it to discover my clothes smelled of a campfire. Scary nightmare stuff... It would normally take a couple of cycles to get the clothes to dry, so the dryer was working harder than it should. Action was definitely needed! I began to do the DIY route to clean out my home's dryer vent, but I soon discovered that the vent empties out the roof of our house instead of an exterior wall. To be entirely honest, when I first hired Cal Duct Screen, I did not have a good experience on their first visit, however, when I contacted the owner to let them know what happened, he absolutely took care of it. Not only did he get rid of a problematic employee, but he personally drove from the Bay Area twice to make sure the job got done right. My wife and I were interested in having our home screens replaced. I provided David at Cal Duct Screen with measurements for 10 screens through the Yelp app and asked for a quote for solar screen replacement. We received what appeared to be a generic quote for regular screen replacement. I asked to clarify that they did solar screens and was asked to schedule an appointment to have a technician come out and take look. I provided my cell number and home address and scheduled a morning appointment, which David then asked to be rescheduled for later in the day, at 4:00. The technician arrived almost ninety minutes late. He did not take any measurements and then spent the better part of 30 minutes on the phone with his boss, David. I was told a price for the project, and I asked that a quote be texted or emailed to me. I was told a quote would be coming and the technician and I parted ways. Then, I received a follow up text from David saying "I sent all price to you. He got 40 minute a way and now he need to 40 minute back" and "You had an all price. And you all ready ordered." I then called David and told him that there had been a MAJOR misunderstanding. I had not "ordered" anything and that we were just doing research to get quotes. We have only been in the house for 3 years and the Dryer duct probably has never been cleaned. I have never used a dryer duct cleaner before, but our dryer regularly took more than 2 cycles of drying for each load. It kept throwing a error code of D80. We thought it was the dryer and had a warranty tech come out to evaluate it. Turns out the dryer duct was the culprit. Error code D80 means there is not enough air flow in the exhaust duct out of the dryer(clogged). The house was built in 1997, so you can imagine how much it affected our dryer cycles and how long it has been building up. We requested a few quotes and Cal Duct had the best offer at $149 to clean it. We scheduled a date and they came out and cleaned it in about a half hour. They said it was the worst dryer duct they had ever seen and also a fire hazard. Most dryer ducts cleaned retrieve about a tenth of the debris they pulled from our duct. They did a great job.
