Really enjoy the way they do the B1G1, because they give you a poker chip for that free one. So you can buy all the drinks you want before the HH ends and use the chips for afterwards. Made reservations the day before for a bday lunch only because I had elderly handicapped people in my party. They were super accommodating and I called a half hour before to say we were coming . They had everything ready for us. Drinks were delish the margarita pitcher was awesome and mango margarita is a must along with brunch mimosas. Went here for a drink with my friend. We had the worst Palomas we've ever had. They essentially just tasted like lemon juice. They use grapefruit soda instead of juice, which may or may not contribute to that, but they just did not even taste like a Paloma. When we brought that to the attention of the employee working, he didn't offer a replacement or anything, just said that's how they are made. I've had only problems with deliveries from this restaurant. The first time I ordered, I waited an hour, and then the restaurant called me to tell me that they no longer delivered to my address. I have no idea why they allowed me to place an order if they don't service my area, but having placed my order and waited an hour, I'd have expected them to send it out to me anyway as a courtesy. They refused, and I had to get my car from a local parking garage and go to the restaurant to pick up the food I ordered. Tonight I placed an order through UberEats. They delivered the wrong item, which I am allergic to. The restaurant refused to fix the order because they said that I am "Uber's customer," even though Uber clearly did not make my food and the restaurant prepared and sent out the wrong item. After waiting an hour to be extremely disappointed, I was basically told to go pound sand. They told me that it's not their fault; somehow it's Uber's fault that the restaurant gave them the wrong food. By the time I was able to reach someone at UberEats, the restaurant had closed. The restaurant advised me that they don't recommend UberEats for delivery. THEN WHY OFFER IT?? This is ultimately the restaurant's responsibility, but they take no accountability. I would not order from this restaurant until they get their act together. read more

I love their tofu taco! It's amazing, but only because I love their crack sauce. Every taco tastes like the crack sauce so if you don't like that, you won't like anything else here. Just a warning for delivery. DON'T DO IT. This is the second time I've ordered delivery and had over an hour and half wait time. WHAT?! I live 3 blocks away (hold the comments, I know I could walk there but it's cold and I'm lazy!) but nearly 2 hours for two tacos and some elote is outrageous. Great spot for Mexican food! The margaritas are fantastic (I got the frozen mango - amazing) - and these are all part of HH during the week. Chips and guacamole were great too - nothing special, but very good. I got the chipotle pork quesadilla and my friend got the Baja bowl. I think everything here tastes exactly the same- like their "crack sauce." Crack sauce is good, but not when everything you order only has that flavor. Beans kinda suck, salsas kinda suck, gringo taco kinda sucks. Only good dish is the carne fries. These guys were very progressional and constantly made drinks while still taking our orders and laughing at our jokes. Location was great I found parking right in front on a Sunday afternoon. The shrimp taco was great but the fried chicken taco was sublime. I'm coming back but I really reallllyyyy wish they would add at least a Flan or bread pudding to their menu... we need Latin deserters after some tacos and tequila. Been to their Red Hook location before just by walking by, so not surprised I stumbled onto this one as well. Friday night and not too bad of a wait for a table of two (10 minutes). This spot is way bigger and busier than its other Brooklyn stop but still serving the same quality food. Ordered the Nachos ($11) and the Chipotle Pork Quesadilla ($10). Nachos are layered nicely with guac, beans, cheese, and sour cream. Pork quesadilla is pressed well and toasted, served with that amazing crack sauce. Also ordered a couple of margaritas which were okay; we were too early for happy hour by 30 minutes so couldn't get the deal. Service here runs smoothly despite the crowd. I definitely like the other location better since it's less hectic; yet it's a great stop for your Mexican fix simply for the crack sauce. read more

Went on a Saturday around 7:30pm. We were a group of 4,told the wait was going to be 30 minutes, but it ended up being shorter, maybe around 15 minutes. Our waiter forgot to bring out our appetizer so we had to remind him. One person in our party ordered a drink, it never came, but when the bill came they had charged us for it. The place is small but I think our waiter was the only waiter. Maybe this was what caused him to be extremely inattentive, for example to order more drinks we literally had to stare him down and hope to make eye contact to call him over. I'm unsure if they normally only have one waiter on busy Saturday nights, maybe they were short staffed. At some point we did see some other staff who brought us our drinks or our food. Bartender had a nasty attitude when I politely asked if I can change my frozen margarita to on the rocks, because it tasted so sour. I basically got the same thing on the rocks. I am content with Calexico. The drinks are well crafted and there is a wide variety of liquor to chose from that makes drinking here even better. My partner and I enjoyed his steak fajita. It came out sizzling with peppers and onions and a side of rice and beans with the essentials ( guac, sour cream and hot sauce/ pico de gallo). I ordered a beef taco which was mediocre. The service and the staff, especially our waiter (Anna/Annie; sorry not good with names) was on point. Very attentive to making sure we were comfortable (clearing table from empty dishes and cups, refills on drinks, check-ins) . Great spot and definitely will be revisting. read more

And I like how they came with a little side of sliced apple and celery for a cooling of the palette 5. Baja fish taco. Didn't like much. I really dislike flour tortillas and was disappointed to see they were serving them. The actual fish was really good however. 6. Had some of a burrito, did not like at all!!! 7. The Aguas frescas were also disappointing. The flavor combinations were light in flavor and odd. I would like to see the traditional flavors, like watermelon or Tamarindo even horchata would be nice. Brooklyn has tons of food and no shortage of Mexican food. Though I feel like most of the quality Mexican is at stands and trucks not really at a nice sit down restaurant. Calexico is exactly what I have been looking for. Good Mexican at a place where I can sit drink, eat and enjoy. The food is pretty good, fish tacos are great, the rolled quesadillas are awesome. I don't think you can really go wrong here. Service was fast, friendly and great. I love Calexico and used to get food from there regularly when I lived close to the Union Street location in Carroll Gardens. I was also a huge fan of the salsa verde and would load up on it, made any dish even better with the mix of tomatillo, jalapeno and cilantro. The night before I ordered from the Williamsburg/Greenpoint location into The Gutter. I wanted to order something different from the night before and was thinking of the Vegetarian Enchiladas because it said it came with the green sauce, which I assumed was the same one that I loved from their other location. When I found out the Vegetarian Enchilada had onions, I went for something else. We shared the nachos, which were delicious and well worth the $11 (compared to their $7 salsa or $9 guacamole only options). Our drinks were really good and meant to last. l loved the take on Pina colada with pineapple thyme infused vodka. I wound up going with the Black Bean Burrito "dressed" (with sour cream and monterey jack cheese drizzled on top for an extra $3). Unfortunately the green sauce was not the same I was familiar with. The whole dish had a weird tangy flavor that I wasn't a fan of. Service was great. The hostess was incredibly communicative and provided frequent updates. They also had the NoWait app which was helpful and informative. The server was also very helpful and clearly paid attention. The meal came to 40 before drinks, 62 after (cocktails at $11 a piece). I really liked the decor, it was different than any other nearby place. I will be back but will go with my old standbys, carne asada and Union St. salad. read more

Given that Park Slope shares a border with Mexico, it shouldn't be a surprise that there are a few awesome options for tacos, burritos, and other treats, but I was still always impressed with the quality I got from Calexico. I'd love to say that there were some menu items I liked, but that would imply there were some menu items I DIDN'T like, and I'm not here to lie. I went here for night one of my many-night birthday / moving out celebration this summer, and my table got the chips and salsa, chips and guac, several types of tacos, some quesadillas, and a burrito, and I tried everything, and it was all great. I ran into the usual issue with tacos in that I have no idea which one was which, so I can't say which was my favorite, but none of them were below an 8/10. The burrito was also really good, as were the margaritas. All around great start to my weekend. I've also gotten a more casual takeout burrito bowl in the past, and it's similar to Chipotle except you can tell it's a little less fast-food-y. the tacos and esquites from calexico are amazing. i always order esquites wherever i go and they were full of flavor. definitely a little more mayo that i would have liked but others probably wouldn't mind this, i'm just not a big mayo person. the portion for the esquites was huge too. i got a carne asada taco and added on the spicy house sauce (very good and wasn't overly spicy), the pollo asado taco with mango salsa which was amazing, and the shrimp taco. my favorite was the shrimp taco for sure. everything was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. i was even surprised the food was still very warm by the time i received it because i ordered from uber eats and i live in bay ridge, so this was also a plus. i am definitely going to be returning here in the future. it was pretty pricy (i spent $31.58 for 3 tacos and corn) but i think it was worth it. read more

I've tried Calexico at Barclays, Greenpoint and this new one in Park Slope. One thing you should know: get the chile-cilantro fries. They are really tasty. The fish taco was good, but the steak taco was a tad dry. The guac is a good portion and the wings were ok. I'd prefer the seasoning to be glazed. It was a little runny.
