Coffee set up

We made reservations months in advance for five nights to see the Calgary Stampede. The rates for this event were obscenely expensive. We picked the busy downtown location because we could walk to everything. We checked in after 11 PM, having been traveling for 15+ hours. We were not given maps, nor info about the hotel but we received two bottles of water and two types of earplugs. There were four elevators that moved up and down quickly. The hotel was dated and worn. We had a room on the 17th floor without feathers and a nice view. Lighting was strange, there was no master light switch, so we had to walk into a dark room & turn on and then off 6 separate light switches. There was a lot of space for suitcases and a decent amount of counter space in the bathroom. There was an old drip coffee pot with powdered milk & Styrofoam cups. I appreciated the daily housekeeping & fresh towels. The bathroom was strangely configured, I had to sort of climb over the toilet to get into the shower and it was tough to avoid getting my hair wet. There were no shower caps, nor the usual toiletry items that I'm accustomed to finding in the bathroom. The shower got hot and the water pressure was good. The bed was comfortable & the air conditioner worked. During the night the air went off and we woke up in a sweat at 4 AM. Our room was mostly quiet. In the lobby there was a Starbucks, steak house, and a bar /saloon. A fitness center with free weights and cardio equipment is on the third floor. A table with stampede information was set up in the lobby. Strangely there were many private events with food & cocktails in the hotel lobby. There was no concierge nor a cart or somebody to help us with our luggage. We got mixed messages, often wrong messages from staff at the front desk. During this stampede, there was a table set up with information and the schedule for the day.

Gorgeous hotel! I won a one night stay from an Instagram contest. As soon as I walked in, the hotel had the most amazing scent! Immediately I went on bougie vacation mode. The Starbucks right next to the check in desk was also convenient and exciting! They arranged for a room on the 18th floor. Right next to the Calgary Tower. The downtown view was beautiful! The king size bed was spacious. I appreciated the black makeup towel they provided to remove make up - pretty genius in my opinion. It was nice not to stain any of white towels with my makeup. The bathroom shower was also roomy and gorgeous. The valet service was efficient and reliable. Our SUV was in safe hands. It was nice to just walk out of the lobby and into our waiting vehicle upon checkout. I would totally stay here again. It was luxurious and comfortable. A staycation in my home province!

Very good location downtown. Very kind gentleman at the front desk, smiling, even if it was 1:00 am. The hotel is renovated. Nice and spacious lobby, spacious rooms. Clean rooms and a shower in the bathroom, no bath which was nice. I never have s bath in a hotel anyways! They have a restaurant next to the lobby. Gym and hot tub on the 3rd floor.

No complaints about the downtown Marriott. It's a convenient 2 min walk from Calgary downtown and 10 min walk tops from the Stampede expo grounds. The only caveat is the $25/day valet parking in a private above or below ground lot, unless you wanna find downtown street parking yourself. Room was clean, efficient and modern with good storage, a comfy bed, a large bathroom and shower room, very nice. With an average palatable breakfast included for $129/night on Comicon weekend, we were more than satisfied and would stay here again. Don't forget your SPG Starwood Alliance points, with bonus points for passing up a day of housekeeping, cuz lord knows 2 peeps can survive one weekend without fresh towels and linens. Great affordable location within easy walking distance of downtown faves including Inglewood, Stephen Ave, Eau Claire Market, Chinatown and the Stampede expo grounds. The restaurants in the same block, The Beltliner and Native Tongues, are totally bomb, so don't hesitate to book your Calgary stay here!!

Excellent staff. Excellent housekeeping. Excellent decor. EXCELLENT Pillows! We were welcomed and treated with the utmost respect and curtesy from the valet to the front desk. You could tell the hotel was recently renovated because everything was very trendy. As an interior designer, I recognized many industry-famous pieces. They spared no expense here and they treat you like you're the only one staying there. There is a Starbucks in the lobby which is convenient for snacks. I only wish I didn't have to pay for valet and that there was more than one soap in the bathroom. Other than that, I would highly recommend and will be staying again!

The building also includes a nice gym, laundry room with a good number of washers and dryers, and even a first-come first-serve "office" room on the first floor which we ended up using for when we needed to take calls. Breakfast was included in the room rate and we really appreciated the quality and the options of what was available (from standard continental breakfast fare to waffle machines, eggs/bacon/sausage/tater totes, to oatmeal and congee). Coffee was not our favorite but the good news is there are plenty of wonderful cafe options outside the hotel. The hotel has both valet parking and self-parking options available. The self-parking option that is affiliated with the hotel is outdoor parking that is located a little distance away from the property. There is a second self-parking option (Indigo Neo) that is underground and part of the property but is not at all affiliated with the hotels. We chose the Indigo Neo option for convenience. Payment was license-plate based and managed online--the hotel staff were really great about emphasizing the need to remember to pay for the parking as Indigo Neo team are strict about ticketing those who don't pay. Service was 5+ stars. All of the team members from the front desk to the chef team and wait staff to the valet were all very kind, courteous and accommodating. The team was extremely proactive when they noticed that our in-room phone line had static and within minutes, maintenance was at our door. And when our trip had to be extended by one extra day due to an unexpected situation, the front desk team (Mercedes) was so patient and helpful in helping us navigate the situation and resolve it. At breakfast, I even heard the head chef agreeing to help a student sports team get breakfast and make it to their game on time by coming in earlier than usual. Amazing kindness by the whole team! Location is great with plenty of places to eat (pro-tip: Noble Pie is a block away and a must-try pizza spot) and shops that are walking distance away. Some blocks are rougher than others but nothing unexpected for a city. Great place for work or play. We look forward to staying here again on our next trip to Calgary!

Ms Puja did awesome by our family. Thanks for being so accommodating with the reservation.read more

But once you get the hang of it, not too bad. The other thing to note is the homeless population in the area. There are a lot. We were on a business trip and walked to a few places without being hassled, but you are going to see them. Just a fair warning, because again, we never had a problem. Other than that, the rooms are nice, with everything you would need if you were there for a long stay, including a kitchen with a full fridge and dishwasher. The bar has some good that was ok, nothing great and the service is slow. The only thing that was exceptional was the free breakfast, lots of options, including more of a dinner option like tikki masala or taco stuffs. A nice surprise and comfort!

Since it was the weekend, the rate was reasonable. At check-in, we were given free water bottles and our room was on the 9th floor. One of the elevators was out of order but the waits weren't long. I didn't know there was a restaurant so that was convenient for our dinner. That evening, we noticed that the bedsheet was coming off the bed and we tried to get it back on the corners but with no luck. The heater was blasting cold air. With these issues, we had someone come up. He explained the temperature control was missing a setting that would turn off the fan. He tried to put the bedding on but wasn't able to and said it was due to bedsheets shrinking in the wash. Should that get larger bedsheets to fit over the mattress? They moved us to another room which was better as the bedsheets didn't reveal the mattress. There was a sofa which was better for one person to watch TV. From the bed, the TV had to be turned and the position wasn't ideal for all viewpoints. We had a large fridge, stove top, cups, plates, and cutlery. The shower was nice but to turn it on, you would get splashed by the water so you may get a blast of cold water. Our room was above the train so if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. The gym was nice but two of the ellipticals' displays didn't work. The pool and hot tub also looked nice but the water in the hot tub wasn't very hot and just one jet that was powerful and the rest didn't seem to work. I also saw a large bug on the pool deck but luckily it did not join me in the hot tub. The hotel restaurant was ok. It was busy for one server so the service wasn't excellent. They have happy hour specials so we did get a discount off of our drinks. The location was convenient to walk to the Saddledome and there's a Superstore a block away.

H mart is only about 2 blocks over if you want Asian groceries. I also just read that they give complimentary bikes rentals on their website, which is amazing! The only con was that you have to reserve pool time and it's a $10 fee per person if you don't show up. It's a small pool and is just under 5 feet. They reserve a seating area for you, which is very nice but made it difficult to plan your day especially having 2 kids under 3yo.

We were told that our reservation had been canceled because our name was not on the final list for the tour. What happened next was far beyond simple service. Once we had a room, Rodrico checked that our bags would be picked up in the morning and he determined that the tour company was planning to drop my 80 year old brother-in-law at a different hotel than us. Rodrico got on the phone and made sure that we would all be at the same hotel in Banff. He then made several calls for us to make sure that the Tour company hadn't made any other mistakes. All through the confusing process, Rolanie and Rodrico assured us that we were in good hands and we felt that everything would be straightened out because of them. I don't know what we would have done if they hadn't gone above and beyond normal procedures and helped us.
