The dough of the Mee-Maw pizza took me all the way back to my childhood days when my grandmother made fried dough that was so very similar. She made it for breakfast with butter and sugar. The family didn't want to cook so I ordered a grandmas pizza with Pepperoni and extra cheese. Checked the pay on delivery figuring they took mobile visa. First problem, they don't. (even the local Mom and Pop take mobile cards), I had to call to the restaurant to pay. They have a very long ad before they answered. A woman answered, but she had to find someone to take the Visa, more wait for a guy to take info. Well now its been 10 more minutes to pay. All that's left is to eat this top shelf pizza. Sad to say the double cheese was not even a single order of cheese. The pepperoni was saltier then a margherita glass. Not enjoyable at all. Stopped in here after work since I had to get onto Turnpike in Monroeville. They have a Happy Hour starting at 4:30pm. Happy Hour menu drafts were 1/2 off and they had some $5 appetizers. I got these spicy cheese balls which turned out to be a huge portion served in a loaf pan, definitely enough for 2-3 people. The bar was decorated for Halloween. Both bartenders were efficient & friendly. I had a pumpkin ale with caramel & cinnamon sugar rim and then a BrewDog Punk IPA which was from Scotland. I ordered a medium Greek pizza to go and it was loaded with toppings and I really liked their crust. I don't live near any locations of this chain, but it's worth a stop. read more

Got the new stuffed crust pizza from caliente and it was excellent... the toppings were great and the sauce is perfect.... Probably the best stuffed crust pizza, it's higher quality by miles than Pizza Hut and def not as greasy... although the greasy stuffed crust at the hut is great!! None the less this was better in every way u can imagine plus it has a good amount of cheese in the crust which is a plus. As always calientes always knocks it out of the park.. two thumbs up hope this item sticks on the menu... on a side not i take it there's a current fad of stuffed crust pizza these days? Thought we would give this new place a try after waiting a while to let them get settled. Ordered a "Brooklyn" adding mushrooms and a "Ranchero Chicken" with no tomatoes and extra Ranch on the side. Observations: Person on phone taking the pick up order did not know the menu and repeatedly asked me to "hold on a minute" and then asked his "boss" things like "hey boss, they want a Brooklyn, where is that". It became so comical, I put him on speaker so my son could hear it and have a good laugh. It took 8 minutes and change to order 2 pizzas. Picked up pizzas - Ranchero Chicken has no ranch on the side, all the extra ranch is on the pizza. Otherwise ok and the only reason for 2 stars. Brooklyn has ZERO pepperoni (they brag about the dried pepperoni Sinatra style on the menu) and a small amount of burned mushrooms. See the attached photos. If "Sinatra" were alive and knew these fools were using his name to promote this garbage pizza, he'd send in a real Italian to straighten them out. He reached out after a negative experience the first time to make things right, so I visited again this weekend. This time I had Larissa as our server, and she was fantastic. In fact, the entire staff was great. The beer selection was excellent and the food was very good, and the menu was filled with great Italian options. A great night out! read more

I'd say that the service is bad here, but it is actually worse than bad- it is NON EXISTENT. Took a friend there on thurs evening (7/6) for pizza and beer. We couldn't even get waited on at a relatively empty bar. Only 5 other people were at the bar. There were 3 different women working behind the bar and we sat there for 15 minutes (while messy plates of food from previous customers were sitting in front of us not cleaned up) without any of the 3 women even making eye contact with us or saying "be there in a minute", or something like that. An acknowledgment that we were there would have at least helped. The lame excuse of staff shortages etc won't help in this case either, because there were 3 women working behind the bar and only 5 customers. Ridiculous that we weren't even acknowledged. Went to Anthony's Cold Fired Pizza instead, where we were treated great and the Pizza was great. I wouldn't recommend Caliente at all. Plenty of other good places around to go to that won't ignore their customers. read more

From ordering pizza to getting it delivered, it took a little over two hours. All I ordered was their special $30 meal deal (1 large pizza, 1 two liter, breadsticks, and 1 sandwich). Why this took so long, I have no idea. I did end up calling the location I ordered from (used the website). Was told they just got the order 5 minutes ago and this was already over an hour. I said in a shocked tone "what" and I was told to hold. After a few seconds I was told their driver has their order. I tried to find out when he took the pizza, just to find out what's going on and if I need to ask for a refund. Just told me he has the pizza, in such a nice tone. After that I said if my order was cold I am going to call back and there was silence so I said goodbye. Another hour went by and I called again and I was told I called the Bloomfield location (i went through the MONROEVILLE location). I got confused and hung up. Double checked the number and I was right, but when I called again the order finally got here. So, after that build up to the main event, how was it? The food was cold and somehow the two liter was hot. Yeah, two hours for everything and the food ended up being cold. Shocked? No, not at all. Since we were so hungry we ended up eating it, definitely was one of the worst orders I've had from them. I do plan on calling tomorrow, since I don't want to talk to mister happy again. Call me a Karen if you want, but when I ordered pizza from here before, during a football game, didn't take as long. Don't know what happened and it's a damn shame. I will start this review by getting right to what's important: the pizza. All other details pale in importance when compared to the pizza. It. Is. Amazing. It's hard to put into words what makes this pizza (in our case, the Brooklyn in Your Face) so special, but I'll try. Stretched-to-the-Max dough. So thin in the center it's hard to pick up. Yet somehow, perfectly chewy. Thin, flavorful red sauce that you'd gladly eat with a spoon if given the opportunity. A most generous topping of cheese, ooey and gooey and even a bit chewy. And then the pepperoni - wow. This is the pizza to end all pizzas. This will make you forget your favorite pizza shop. This will make it seem perfectly acceptable to drive 30 minutes, past two dozen pizza shops, just to get your pizza fix. (Yes, we did that.) Now, a word about service. It was superb. We arrived on a busy Saturday evening at six pm. It was elbow to elbow. We were given a quote of 15-30 minutes. We found a spot at the bar to wait. The bartender, serving a jam- packed bar, addressed us immediately and served up two very reasonably priced gigantic Yuenglings. Within the time frame quoted, we were seated at a small table. When we placed our order, our waitress expertly suggested we size up to a bigger table (because the Brooklyn is GIANT) and she managed to find one right away. The pizza didn't take long at all- probably 20 minutes- and even though the place was positively packed with people, we never felt ignored or underserved. If what you are looking for is a memorable pizza served in an upbeat friendly atmosphere, this is the place. We will most certainly be back. read more

I had two friends rave about Caliente within two days of each other so I obviously had to check it out. Me and a few friends went to this location around 7:30 on a Friday night. We had to wait a little bit for a table but because we were kind of a larger group and Caliente is taking Covid precautions, we totally understood. The tables are pretty spaced out and they have big dividers up between tables. I'm usually pretty cautious about going out to eat during the pandemic so I think they did a great job about taking necessary precautions! We got pepperoni and buffalo chicken pizza and they came out in a pretty timely manner. I LOVED the pepperoni. My friends that ate the buffalo chicken weren't super impressed but they still thought it was good. Our server was great and the sports bar environment was really fun to be in, too! read more

The Grandma Honey is legitimately the best pizza I've ever had. And I have eaten A LOT of pizza. My sister lives in Chicago, so I have had several authentic deep dish pies that are incredible. And this still takes the crown. Get it with a side of their ranch, and dip the honey glazed crust into it...omg. Better than Domino's. I was attracted by Caliente's reputation for award-winning pizza, and every time we drove past, I would nudge my gf and remind her that I wanted to try it. She always told me not to get too excited. "It's a chain," she'd say, "you'll be disappointed." We decided on a medium (12") pepperoni pizza. Keeping it simple is the best way to evaluate a pizza. The pizza arrived and looked pretty good. The best thing about it was the way the pepperoni cupped and crisped. Everything else about the pie was absolutely ordinary. The sauce wasn't bad but there wasn't enough of it on the pie to really make an impression. Nothing wrong with the cheese but again, not much of it there--no gooey stretch of cheese to rave about. The crust was just OK, although I will say that it was cooked just right--on the thicker side but crispy enough not to droop. But for $18.75 (16 + 2.75 for one topping), the value just wasn't there. For $2 more at Mineo's, I'm getting twice as much pizza that's on a whole other level. The dining room on a Saturday afternoon was busy and noisy with a group of junior roller derby girls, but there's nothing wrong with a lively atmosphere. Our waitress seemed bored with the whole thing but at least the service was timely. The one thing we did find fantastic was the salad dressing. It's an odd thing to praise a restaurant for, and tbh the salad was tiny, but both the homemade chunky bleu cheese and the homemade balsamic were just great. A true hidden treasure for Craft beer and IPA Lovers. The pizza and appetizers were to die for. Perfect crust, robust sauce. If you like chicken, the Chicken ranchero is my favorite pizza. My friend Omar and I have been going to this place for a few years now, the food is very good and the service is always great and timely. This place offers a very clean, spacious, welcoming warm friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately our favorite server Larissa is no longer there and we as I'm sure many other people miss her friendliness, conversation and excellent service she provided. Yesterday, (Last Night) June 15, 2024, Omar and I visited Caliente's to grab a late night bite to eat, I believe our server was Emily who was a very nice young lady and provided us great service. We opted for the 10 inch Create Your Own Pizza with an order of Bone In Cry To Mommy Wings, however, we were informed that only Boneless Wings were available so we upgraded our pizza to a 12 inch with pepperoni anchovies and sausage. Our choice of drinks were Guiness and Lemonade. The wait time for our food and drinks was very timely. As I said above, the food here has always been very good. I must say though that the pizza we ordered last night was absolutely exceptionally fresh and delicious. No idea who prepared that pizza, but neither Omar nor I EVER eat (4) slices of pizza in one sitting, however, last night we couldn't help ourselves...it was absolutely delicious and possibly the best pizza we've ever had there. It is a little insulting to ask someone to go out of their way to email to correct the situation, and then do nothing but ignore them. The original review is as follows: Average pizza at a premium price. Parking is a nightmare... Check out the "lot" on Google maps... You'll see what I mean. With a half full dining room, you're lucky to find a spot. Speaking of half full dining room, our service was slow and inattentive. The pizza was average fare. Not good, not bad, but certainly not worth the inflated prices versus other local pizzerias. This place is a complete and utter mess. An unmitigated disaster if you will. Here's a timeline for you. It's Father's Day.... 4:46 PM- I called Caliente to get a table for six at 5:30. They obliged. I was happy. :) 5:20 PM- We arrived and waited at bar. 5:55 PM- I'm getting angry. The hostess keeps promising there's a table for us "soon". 5:58 PM- Another waitress/bartender comes over to scold the hostess for telling me there's a table available and tells me they don't take reservations. I told her that they did. She tells me they shouldn't have. But they did I tell you! My name was written down on the paper. Saw it with my own eyes. 6:03 PM- We're seated yayyyyyyy!!! Finally. 6:18 PM- A waitress finally comes to take our drinks and tells us that she's not our waitress. BOOOOO 6:21 PM- Waitress finally comes. YAY!!!!!!! (18 minutes after seated). We ordered our food right away because we honestly don't know if we'll see anyone again. I'm giving it one star without tasting the food. That's right. I'll never be back. You guys need to get your act together. My whole party commented on how scatterbrained the hostess and all the staff was. They look panicked, rushed and overall unprepared. This is a direct reflection on management. As someone that's works in Monroeville and lives in Murrysville, My family is the clientele that this establishment needs in order to be successful. Prediction: This place will fail. Just like every business in this location up to date. There's not enough parking or enough seating. The food is good, there's no denying that (7:20 PM). This was the worst service I've ever experienced in my entire life and that is not hyperbole. The parking and seating situation will take care of themselves soon enough. We've been regular customers since we moved to Monroeville in 2018 and have always been happy with the consistency and quality of all the food we've had from Caliente. Today we ordered a Grandma Honey, a pizza we've had many times before. When it arrived at the table iit was immediately obvious that it was overbaked. The crust was too dark and it was difficult to cut into. The salami was blackened and shriveled up. While eating it, it became apparent that something was off. The sauce was so heavy in some spots it was causing the toppings to slide off. This was how I noticed that it appeared the crust itself had been baked before the toppings were applied. It was as if all of the toppings were just dumped on to an already-baked crust. The red onions were in the middle of the pile of toppings and were almost completely raw, which is not how they usually come on this pizza. The hot honey was barely present. While all of the ingredients were clearly present it did not taste or feel like any of the previous Grandma Honeys we've had. I asked a staff member about it and they confirmed that the kitchen is now running the bare crusts through the oven once before applying the toppings and then running it through a second time. If this is what Caliente's pizzas are going to be like now we're going to have to find a different pizza spot. read more

I first ordered from here on 5/16/19 to try something new for my work lunch break. I placed an online order for the 5pc. Jamaican Jerk dry rub wings on a bed of fries. Upon receiving my order, the wing flavor I actually was given was the Garlic Parm wet flavoring. I typically don't enjoy wet flavors, but I had a limited timeframe for lunch, and honestly the flavor of the wings wasn't that bad. I placed a second order yesterday, June 3, again an online order for the 5 pc. Jamaican Jerk dry rub wings on a bed a fries, with 2 ranch dressing dipping sauces on the side. Upon receiving this order, the wing flavor was correct, however, the box the food came in had apparently been smashed by the delivery driver as both of the ranch sauce cups were smashed TO PIECES and ranch dressing spilled everywhere both inside of the take out box AND all inside of the bag the food was in. Seeing as though I enjoy ranch, this may have been ok but the amount of spillage made the food unappetizing. Just an FYI, it's clear that either delivery orders are being hastily put together at the restaurant, or they aren't being handled with care during delivery. Horrible and uncomfortable service from the bartender girl with black hair and the old lady. They made my boyfriend and I sit there for 25 minutes while they were sitting there staring at us and then when the girl finally came up to us immediately picked up my id then she asked us what we wanted we weren't ready yet... the old lady came up to us after that and sat there with my license for 5 minutes after asking for a drink obviously thinking it was fake going back talking with that girl and then come back and say she has to scan it on her personal phone??? So sat there trying to scan it in front of us obviously it did not come back fake and she felt stupid and served me my drink.
