    Adobada Califa Taco

Why 5 stars? Because this was one of my favorite new places I've tried in 2024. --- --- --- We have had Califas bookmarked for a while, and nearly visited several times, but plans kept falling a part on us. Finally, when we had an appointment less than a mile down the road, it became our destiny to finally eat at Califas. We ordered a whole bunch of stuff and we loved all of it. Seriously, everything we had was 5-stars. If I had to pick one item that was my least favorite, I would say it was the Baja Shrimp Taco, but that's just because I'm forced to pick one. I would still happily order that again on a future visit. My favorite was the Adobada Calfias Taco. It was very unique, in that, it was one giant piece of pork that was longer than the tortilla itself. But inter-mixed with the pork was a bunch of cheese and other greasy goodness. I was pleasantly surprised, as the first bite was way different (better) than I expected. I also ordered the Mar Y Tierra taco with steak, rice and beans, chips and guacamole. All of it was great. Jamaica Agua Fresca on tap? I had approximately 3.5 cups of it. My wife ordered a California burrito and it hit the spot perfectly. She went to college in California and said that it very much reminded her of her time there. She did end up asking for some pico to mix into it, but I thought it was great as-is. Califa, I will be back. And I will tell the world about you.

Pretty good food. Service was really great as well. The restaurant is filled with bright colors and very pretty lights. Makes for an incredible night scene while eating some yummy tacos. Prices are very reasonable compared to other places. Food amounts were generous. Keep in mind, Califas is counter service so they don't have to check on you however the lady working tonight went about and beyond any counter service personnel would do. She didn't have to check on us, but she did. She didn't have to bring us water, but she did. Will definitely be come back for some more yumminess.

Got here at 8:45pm, we were excited to try this place since they had such good reviews, but we were so disappointed. The latina girl who was getting our orders was pressuring us to get our orders, then when we asked her any type of question about the food she would answer us in a rude way, and she looked annoyed that we were taking a little bit longer to order. We honestly let it slip and ordered some mar y tierra fries and some tacos, when we asked if she had any type of salsa she just said no and left rudely, then we wanted more dressing of the chipotle and charged us $2 to get more in a super small container!! Since we started eating we could here her talk really bad and rude and sometimes with sarcasm to the people inside the kitchen, and you could here it all the way to the dining area! I honestly think this is not acceptable and I felt really bad for the people inside the kitchen. I would not be coming back because I don't accept any type of bullying inside a location and worse that they allow it.

We decided to try this place because we were in the mood for tacos. This pulled up good reviews they did not dissapoint you do order at the counter and then they will bring your food to your table where you sit. You are able to serve your own fountain drinks as well. We tried the sampler tacos and the Birria tacos the tortillas were really good quality. Do yourself a favor and get the tortilla chips we ate the whole basket they were fried fresh and served hot. They have ample dining seating and the horchata and Jamaica fountain drinks were both delicious and refreshing with our tacos. Most importantly can't forget Pam she was so nice and just has an amazing personality. She was so patient with us asking questions about what to try and what we like. Thank you Pam for being so kind and giving amazing service and recommendations we will definitely be back.

Food was average at best. Girl taking our order was not friendly but not rude either but could benefit in learning some customer service skills. We ordered separately but they brought our order on the same plate which I found odd. The place is very noisy and a customer next to us never shut up the entire time we were there. No more Califas for me.

I happen to be in the area and wanted to try something new and I'm glad I came here! I made an online order for pickup. I tried the quesa-birria tacos and the mar y tierra specialty taco! The mar y tierra was definitely a winner and I'm upset I didn't get more! I'm not usually a fan of corn tortillas but Califas homemade tortillas will have you change your mind ! If you're in the area, definitely stop by!

Stumbled upon this restaurant while searching for food on Thanksgiving Eve lol. I ordered the Califas Burrito because it was their signature burrito, along with an Agua Fresca. Service was prompt. Burrito was massive and filled with STUFF, good stuff. I really don't know what all it had but the flavors and textures were perfectly paired. The hot sauces are amazing! The Agua Fresca came from the drink dispenser and I wasn't a huge fan. I prefer Agua Fresca that's homemade. I paid about $15 for my burrito. Yeah it was a decent size but still a bit steep in my opinion. Total with tip was around $25. I look forward to trying some of the other menu items.

Authentic SoCal Mexican cuisine. If you've ever had a California Burrito or Carne Asada fries and want a great place to get them in The Woodlands, look no further. As a person who lived in San Diego for a decade before moving to The Woodlands, this place is legit. The Califas fries are fantastic, the various specialty tacos, and burritos are all delicious and served in generous portions. I'm more of a quality over quantity diner, but this place does both well without feeling expensive. The staff is personable and engaging and the restaurant is clean and well maintained. You won't be disappointed.

    CALIFAS FRIES. Delicious!

They need to put a sign up on the tiny road so you don't pass it up. First I will say I came here for a baby shower in one of the private rooms they offer. I cannot comment on the service because I did not need any. I also cannot comment on the food; it was provided by the party. What I can comment on is the parking - it was absolutely horrible! And that is being kind. They had a few spaces available in a field but to get to those spaces you had to drive through a 5 foot hole that was at least 4 feet deep! Thanks but no thanks I don't do off roading! At 2pm this place was packed! There was a DJ, people everywhere, small children everywhere and quite a few dogs. All in all, I am giving the stars for private room because that is what my experience consisted of.

The semi-off-roading experience driving up the long driveway did not reassure me that I had found the spot either. Limited parking spaces were even more limited due to giant potholes filled with water. I had to move my car because once I parked I couldn't get out without getting my shoes soaked. Venue itself is a huge warehouse space. Large shaded deck spans the building. Tables are picnic tables. Great airflow inside with large fans. There is a separate room attached to the large main hall with some high tops and foosball table. Live music this evening with local youth bands from School of Rock. Other touches around the room reinforced their community support (local art on the walls, silent auction for a charity). Great beer selection- B52 beers ranging from IPAs, Pils, Ale, coffee porter. I tried the Bishop Crackberry Cider- just enough sweetness and perfect for the summer night. Service was nice. Food is served outback from a food truck: They give you a buzzer so you don't have to wait around outside waiting for them to call your name. I shared a Chicken Vindaloo pizza with one other person. Portion size was perfect for 2 adults. Although it promised "tongue searing curry" it totally lacked spice. The Indian flavors were there though. Just don't promise me tongue searing- and it's ketchup level spicy. Thin crust was topped with chicken, Black Truffle Ricotta, Mozzerella, Basil- it was an unexpected exotic flavor to find at a traditional brewery.

It's very spacious and the restaurant has such a cool vibe. I've never had anything to eat here that I didn't like. Their drink selection is vast, especially if you're into beer. They have Angry Orchard on draft (my favorite) and that's hard to find in a restaurant.
