There are a lot of reviews across the internet complaining about the customer service of this company. And they're true. I tried to call and email, but no one responded about adding the planting sleeves to my order after the fact, and I couldn't cancel the order on the website. 1/5 for customer service. Shipping was long (about a month), however they stated on their site that delivery was expected to be 2-4 weeks. They were accurate, in my case, with the shipping. 5/5. I wasn't sure what to expect for packaging. Things seemed packed alright, no damage done on the trip, but I live within 5 hours of Visalia so it wasn't a long haul. Some additional packaging to ensure the vines did not get too rattled would have been good. Also, including the instructions in the shipment for planing/storage (how soon do they need to be planted?) would have been good. For their large vineyard orders, this probably doesn't matter, but for backyard vine growers, it's helpful since we aren't pros. Also, watering requirements would be a nice part of the instruction set. 3/5 for shipping. Pricing: Comparable/cheaper than other places I found. The only supplier I could find with Zinfandel's and princess grapes that was in/shipped to California. 5/5 The whole planting sleeve thing seems to get a lot of backyard vine growers. I had a cardboard shipping tube that I put over one of the vines, per the planting sleeve instructions. One week later I was seeing growth. Three other vines I mounded dirt up over, per their instructions for non-planting sleeve covered vines. No growth yet on the three. So while people seem put off on the planting sleeve issue, it definitely helps, and I understand why it's a requirement for the guarantee. 5/5 for the supplier pushing to use the planting sleeve. read more

I ordered from this company in February 2011 for a March 7 delivery of some various table grape vines. They processed my credit card in March and here we are in the middle of April and still no vines. I call and leave messages, I have emailed to find out the details of our order that says shipped on the website with no tracking numbers. No one at the company ever gets back to me. I am glad to hear that someone else at least got their grape vines even if it was two months late. I would stay far away from ordering from this company. Wish I would have found someone else online that sells grape vines in small quantities. read more

I had the exact same experience as Amanda. I ordered 15 vines in February for a delivery 1 to 2 weeks out. After 5-6 weeks, I had to write to let them know I hadn't received my vines. When they arrived a week later (now 7 weeks post order), they were completely dessicated, short 3 vines, and missing the sleeves. When I contacted Brad about the missing grafts, condition of the grafts, and missing sleeves, he said he'd take care of it, along with the missing certification. Several additional emails and calls later, and not even a response! I wish I had read Amanda's posting earlier. i am out over $200 dollars, which in my opinion is fraud. DON'T USE THEM. read more

This company is a joke! I ordered from California Rootstock in March 2011, ordered took 7 weeks to arrive, Incomplete! no planting sleeves, 13 vines, not 15 as I paid for. I have left numerous msg on their voicemail, no reply. Do not buy anything from these crooks! read more

I wanted to order some grape vines that I did not want to meet the minimum order from other nurseries. I ordered the plants on 4/12 and got them 5/16/2011. The plants were packed in dry sawdust. I pulled them out of the package and used my moisture meter on the saw dust and found it did not register any moisture in the saw dust. The plastic package was not sealed. I put the plants in the ground after a quick B1 solution treatment. 10 days later they were still not growing. One plant had a crack 7.5 inches long and 3/8s of an inch deep. Another one of the bud grafts was actually cracking off. I e-mailed and was told I needed to send photos of how I planted them. I find this laughable as that I received replacement vines from another grower/nursery the day after these came. I had no hassle with the other grower. They sent the plants two days after my e-mail and they came the day after these vines. These plants are already growing. Some of the e-mails I was sent said they had to do inspections which is why they are so slow in shipping the vines. This is clearly not the case as that one vine had rotted on the top of the callus above the graft. Also most other California growers send a Ca Department of Ag certification. There was none with these vines. This web site sounds a lot like the Ty-Ty nursery scam. Afterwards I did a Google map search on the address and found it was in a small strip mall building. They are not listed with Foundation Plant Service (FPS) , and have a F rating with the BBB. Of interest, the website comes up on the first ten sites on a Google search for "grapes vines for sale" and also have a web ad. This has now been reported to Google. If I were to rate the quality of the vines I got compared to other growers, with Double A and Vintage being 9.9 on a scale of 1 to ten, these plants would rate a 0.000001. The grafts are poorly done. The plants are trimmed too close to the buds on the graft. The roots are trimmed too far back at 4-6 inches compared to Double A, Vintage and Herrick where they are 8-16 inches long. See Double A's website for one year extra vines. You want good long roots on the vines as that a lot of plant resources are stored here! The rootstock is unknown and the clone numbers do not match up with FPS approved clones and many of the plants look like they are own rooted. So these plants would die in the most of the US due to Phylloxera aphid after a couple of years. read more

I ordered from these guys last year and what I received seemed subpar, plus they didn't send the planting sleeve I ordered for the vines. I though I'd give them one more try and sure enough subpar plants and no sleeves. Will avoid in the future read more

The customer service from Bradley is pathetic. He doesn't return phone calls or emails. It took six weeks of begging and pleading to finally get my order of 20 vines shipped and I only live 3 hours from them. I even offered to drive up and pick them up but he declined. The vines have been in the ground for a couple of months now and 19 of the 20 are growing. I've called several times and left messages asking for them to replace that 1 vine per their guarantee but I have yet to receive any type of response from Bradley. If you're looking to plant grape vines avoid this company at all costs! read more
