    15. B.B.Q Beef Rib Soon Tofu Combination

Food was delicious... Plentiful portions for me. :) I ordered the beef combo and the dumplings soups.. yummy

I ate here again with family on a Sunday around noon, and there was no wait. The atmosphere was still busy and bustling as the servers attended to the tables, providing many side dishes and hot bowls of tofu soup. I shared a soon tofu combination, so I mostly had soup while sharing meat dishes (galbi and pork ribs). The soup was the original soon tofu (beef broth with my choice of small cuts of beef). All of the banchan tasted good as usual, especially the fresh kimchi with its hint of sweetness. The galbi tasted adequate but not as great as other Korean restaurants I've visited. The portion size was actually small for the price. In comparison, there were a lot more pork ribs for us to share. I did enjoy the soon tofu soup the most. It was very filling and delicious with medium spice. It wasn't too spicy for me, and a mild soup wouldn't have had enough flavor for me. I couldn't finish the soup, so I took the rest home. Like past visits, it was a little difficult to grab the attention of the busy servers. With needed follow-ups, they got us everything we requested. It's a popular restaurant with great soon tofu soup and generous servings of side dishes, so this is expected. For next time, however, we'd not order the galbi but something else instead.

I was very disappointed. This is usually my favorite place, but today the spice level of the tofu we ordered seemed completely different. When I mentioned it to the server, she brought extra broth and told us to add it ourselves. That response really surprised me. Instead of offering to remake the dish, we were told to dilute it on our own. Mistakes can happen, but I believe the right approach would have been to ask how they could fix the issue first. Overall, it was very disappointing, and I don't think I'll be coming back.

I have been coming here for years! I honestly prefer it over another popular chain down the street. My boyfriend hadn't eaten yet and it had been a while since we dined here so today was a great day to go (the cold weather also made us want soup!). We arrived towards the tail end of the lunch rush so we had to wait a bit for them to clear tables. After waiting for a few minutes we were seated. I ordered my usual: Original Soon Tofu with Beef (non-spicy). My boyfriend decided to try the Curry Soon Tofu. We also ordered the Seafood Pancake. The banchan arrived after a couple of minutes not soon after our soon tofus! Food arrived hot and as always tasty! My boyfriend loved his curry tofu and recommends getting it again. You have an option to choose either medium or spicy for the curry. Halfway through our meal the seafood pancake came on a hot skillet. Very flavorful and filling! Always end up taking home leftovers! This place is always busy and for good reason! Their food is great! Plenty of parking as well since it's located in the Amerige Heights Town Center. Come hungry!

In a plaza with tight parking and the restaurant is busy too. The food has been decent, no complaints, and the banchan side dishes have been good too though not a lot of variety. They're so busy that they need to use the robot servers. The seating inside is very tight so be prepared if you have a lot of things on you or with a big group.

Beef Tofu Medium Spicy!! Omg so goooood.

Omg so gooood. I got here at 11:05 and by 11:38 the place is half full. They were very nice too! Bonus!

This is my go to Korean tofu house! Their banchan dishes can vary, but they're all delicious. You know it's a good spot when it's a pretty packed restaurant, no matter what time you go. Their lunch deal is great as it is much cheaper compared to dinner. There is also less of a line during lunch. The service is fine, nothing stellar, but gets the job done.

I was surprised this place was still pretty packed even 30 minutes before closing time so I had high expectations but left feeling disappointed. Prices are pretty high for what it is. I ordered their bibimbap which was $19.99. I felt ripped off because the dish seemed more like a salad. I have never had bibimbap where it came with big chunks of lettuce. Still tasted like bibimbap though. I did like that they provided many side dishes and even gave us refills. But wouldn't be too keen on returning.

Very average standard Korean food that is a bit overpriced. Came with the entire Korean family, and we all agreed it was just very standard. It tasted good but doesn't stand out from any other Korean restaurant. I tried to split the kongguksu with my mom and they said that's not allowed, so expect that every person has to order their own entree.

Delicious Korean comfort food! Service was good and there was plenty of seating inside.

    Squid Bibimbap. Very good.

First time there, had 3 servings of kimchi.i only wish the service was better. Hardly came around to check our table. Was table of 8, so you know we needed stuff like refills. next time I wanna try seafood pancake

I've been fortunate that my two experiences dining here have been good. Food was good and service was somewhat attentive. We never felt that the servers were unfriendly or hostile, just very busy taking care of the other tables. Knocked off one star because when we came with a large party and we were lucky that they were enough tables to seat all of us at once, although we placed our orders at the same time, only half of the table got their food first, while the other half did not get their food until 20+ minutes later. It also took a while to flag down the servers to get our check so we could pay the bill and head back to work afterwards. Despite that, we'll still return but plan to come a little earlier to beat the lunch rush the next time. I recommend their pork soondubu or their beef and octopus soondubu. If you're feeling hungry and indecisive, they do have meat combos with soondubu or you can the combo that comes with a small soondubu and a hot stone bibimbap.

Ask the Community - California Tofu Grill

Do they have unlimited banchan (side dishes)?

Sort of. They will give you more if you ask but start getting annoyed if you keep asking for refills unless you have a large party of people.

    What are the vegan options?

Yes, this restaurant has a lot of veggie food.

    Do they take reservations?

I don't believe so. Been coming here many times now and it seems more of a first come first serve deal.

Is there a way to reach them by phone? The phone number keeps telling me their mailbox is full. I may have left something and I want to call ahead to see before driving so far out?

They pick up the phone now!

Can I do takeout for tofu soup?

For sure! I highly recommend it. They give you everything - rice and banchan.

Is this place open for dining in currently?

I do not believe so. It was take-out only when I stop by a month ago.

Are they allowing to dine in?

They allowed togo. It is good. There is no long waiting. But they do now llow dine in now.

I was just curious why some items on the menu are listed as vegetarian but had a non vegetarian item in it? I need some clarification please. Is it because it can be substituted out?

Because you can ask to add or remove meat items and the vegetarian items tend to start with veggie broth as well.

If I didn't bring him I would buy the galbi tang and take it to him. And back then the service was amazing, the ajummas were so nice and would get you extra servings of banchan and brisket sauce but sadly throughout the years they've become very stingy and just plain out rude. I understand the cost of inflation and it's very real but I used to get their galbi tang for less than $10.
