We stumped up for dinner one night and found that it was actually just a deli to buy food to takeaway - perhaps the gent who told us about it was confused! Then when Laboratorio Espresso opened on West Nile Street, I discovered their food was done by Eusebi Deli. It's a lot easier for me to grab food from Lab Espresso than it is for me to get to the east end, that's for sure! I love that the food they offer isn't your usual Glasgow lunch fare - they do sandwiches like the big antipasti, Buffalo mozzarella and sundried tomato, rosemary ham, chicken and Italian broccoli, and sometimes you can get soup. You need to get to Lab Espresso quickly as they sell out at lunch time, but you will be over the moon if you get to try Eusebi Deli's delicious food.

I jumped on the train to Hamilton West and strolled up to just opposite the Hamilton Sheriff Court and next to the new Italian Eatalianos. It's a quick wee walk and you're there before you know it. Before I entered in they had some seating outside, so clocked, that was were I was parking my bahookie for the next wee while. Inside there's no seating, so purely designed for take away only. The staff were really pleasant and I had a great wee chat with them. They had a fantastic selection on the menu, especially for Hamilton. Hehe! I opted for a Ploughman's wrap and it was delicious. It was so lovingly made and wrapped with a little bit string around it in a bow. They also had a slow roast option, which I believe changes every day, I think I'll check it out the next time I'm in. I had a lovely tasty lunch while basking in the, not to often seen, Scottish sunshine. Bonus! For any foreigners to our land who are not fluent in our garble of slang and the Scots language, Mibbies Aye is Scots for maybe yes. So then is it a Mibbies Aye or mibbies naw for here? I've only been waiting on this my entire life…read more Recently noticed when driving past that this deli, Mibbies Aye, had opened next to Eatalianos and decided to pop in to try it! It's a tiny takeaway place that only offers one table, but the contemporary decor is lovely. They do daily specials, from slow roast brisket to a selection of other just as delicious sounding things, bagels, baguettes and sandwiches, all made on site. The coffee is delicious (must make a mental note of what kind it is), and they also make smoothies on site which are absolutely glorious. Fab staff who are keen to chat, efficient, and happy to help in any way. Great wee place!

The store is reasonably small, and the stock isn't great, I wasn't able to find the particular type of milk I was looking for but was able to seek a reasonable alternative. The checkout area was straightforward and easy, with a staff member on hand to help at the many self-service checkouts, it is disappointing that this store does not support Marks and Spencer's mobile scanning and payment, which would be particularly useful, due to being a travel location, where shoppers would want to get in and out quickly to catch a train. 3* - The location and service are both good, while the stock is the bare minimum and could be better, but still one of the better places to get a small selection of groceries in the evening compared to alternatives nearby.

I was anticipating just getting a premade salad and then adding cans of fish to the leafy greens but I was PLEASANTLY surprised to find that they offered pre-grilled/poached/cooked meats and fun anti-pasti toppings! I grabbed a clean, and huge, bowl of mixed greens that also included radish, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and large leaves of romaine lettuce... And then I also selected a package of plain poached salmon and a package of lemon her grilled salmon (2 fillets per package)... On top of that I also got some marinated artichoke hearts and more cherry tomatoes... Hey what else am I going to do on the train, right? Well, even though I wasn't all that hungry when our train finally left the station, I still chowed down, finishing every little bit. The amount of food I could certainly could have fed four people, but ha, not when my chompers are in the picture! I wound up finishing this meal in about 25 minutes and I have to say, it did help the train ride go by a bit faster! (Or maybe it was thanks to the rather entertaining drunk people?)... Any who... A lot of people don't realize that a GROCERY STORE can offer just as fast, if not faster, FAST FOODS than say... The Burger King next door... And might I add 80000x healthier?!? I highly recommend you get CREATIVE with your dining options! Oh and BY THE WAY... Fiancé got 2 portions of marinated and grilled chicken and he didn't put a stink at all, in fact, I do believe he quite liked what he got. Having drooled over their photos on social media I decided I had to get a couple of quiches for me and my Mum - goats cheese and asparagus were the ones on offer and I managed to snap up the last two! They also stock Poporopo popcorn which I devoured at the Yelp quiz night at the Sparkle Horse back in November, so I was pretty excited to be able to get my hands on some more. (Peanut butter caramel, yum!) I also picked up a bottle of Caesar Augustus because beer. I spent a few pennies over a tenner which I thought was pretty good for the amount and quality of stuff I got! They have a good selection of different beverages like beer, wine and soft drinks including Fentiman's. You can get sandwiches made up and they have loads of different meats and cheeses too! I noticed they had a fair few baked goods but I didn't let myself have a proper look at them because I knew that would be dangerous - from the quick glance I had they did look pretty darned tasty though! I was also sorely tempted to buy a mahoosive pork pie, but on this occasion I managed to resist. Another time perhaps! The staff were lovely the whole time I was in and the place has a really friendly and welcoming vibe to it. They also have a wee sit in bit so I think it would be really lovely to come back for something to eat and a coffee. There aren't enough nice little delis around any more and Billington's is really special. We were sitting in at the few seats at the front - there's probably about 10 seats so I can imagine on the week it would get pretty busy. I was just having a cup of tea, they take orders at the counter and they also have a nice selection of baked goods. On my way out, I decided to grab a couple of items to takeaway. They've got booze, condiments and a delicious fresh counter which looks really good. I got two pizza-type breads to take home topped with tomato and goat's cheese for £2.50 each (I wish I could remember what they were called - see photo!) as well as a chocolate brownie for my choc-addict husband. When I was paying for these, I noticed they sell teeny bottles of booze so got a bottle of Rock Rose gin to try before committing to a full bottle - great idea! I would definitely head back to this lovely deli when I'm in the area again. Well worth a visit!
