I stopped in here on a whim this morning and am so glad I did. I recently moved to the River Rd area and have been looking for some good local businesses to support. I came in around 9am and got a dozen donuts for myself and my partner. We already had some by the time I got a picture at home, we couldn't wait! The gentleman working the counter greeted me immediately and grabbed the donuts for me. He was very sweet and diligent. I got two glazed, two Bavarian crème, two chocolate glazed, two sugar cakes, a cinnamon sugar cake, a powdered sugar cake, a cinnamon twist, and a chocolate bar. We've only had a couple so far and they've been delicious. The cake donuts are amazing - great flavor, perfectly balanced, fluffy texture. Not oily at all like store-bought cake donuts tend to be. The non-cake donuts are amazing too. We haven't had a single bite that wasn't delicious. I paid $21.25 for a dozen donuts. They only take cash so make sure you have some with you when you go. The prices vary depending on what you get. It may seem pricey but it's definitely worth it to support a local business run by sweet people who make delicious treats. Stopped by just before they closed since I was in the area. They did not have any glazed donuts left, but I was able to get an apple fritter and a cinnamon roll for takeout. Customer service was really good... very friendly. I got home, and ate the apple fritter first... and loved it. It was really excellent. Had the cinnamon roll for breakfast the next day... and it was delicious also. I cannot wait to go back and try other items. read more

First time getting donuts from this place, but oh my God I just ate one of them a triangle doughnut with lemon meringue in the middle. That was really good. Still the best donuts around, by a mile. And the best maple bar/long john-type donut I've ever had, period. Not sure why I thought prices are high; maybe I just was stingy. But the prices are reasonable. Maple bars are considered "fancy donuts"; all I know is that they are the bees knees. They are so delicate and light it's like biting into a soufflé. Every other maple bar I've ever had, while not terrible, are much more dense and that is what makes the difference in these ones. They have 2-3 tables, otherwise it's takeout. Their menu outside of donuts isn't huge but it has its following. Cash only business but worth taking out some cash. read more

Stopped by around noon- supply was very limited but snagged 4 bagels and 4 glazed donuts ( last 4 of each). They were all delicious. Tasted freshly made. Will definitely come again for bagels but come earlier in the morning. It's cash only. read more

Wanted to get a "before" picture but by the time I grabbed napkins my son at started the attack . Organic raspberry icing was the best frosting I've had on a doughnut. It wasn't the sugar assault you'd expect but instead it really emphasized the flavor of the raspberries. This is the only place I've seen a Carmel apple fritter and I cant not get one every time I come in. Best doughnuts I've had in Oregon, no second place. Make sure you bring cash read more

Well I hare to rain on all of the five star reviews, but I am not so enamored. I have been here two different times and tried six different items. I would rank them as just okay. Not bad, but not outstanding. Are they the best in Eugene? I do not know as I have only tried a few places. The two I was most disappointed in were the buttermilk bar and the apple fritter. The taste was just not there on the buttermilk bar. Texture was fine. I like my apple fritters with apples in them. This one had no discernible Apple pieces. Maybe they use applesauce, but for me it did not work. The staff was pleasant. The gentleman and I even had a conversation about our mutual like of buttermilk bars. Most of the donut choices were dwindling by 11am but still had classics like chocolate, maple, sprinkle, and bear claws + a few more. Donuts were simple but good, not too dense. This place is very straight forward. They have good coffee. They have good bagels. They have good donuts. It's not glitzy or glamourous. They don't have moody folky cafe tunes playing over speakers. They don't have art or macrame pieces hanging on the walls. They don't have 8 dollar avocado toast or 5 dollar small oat milk cappuccinos. This is a legit small, mom and pop shop owned by a local Eugene family. And that reason alone should be why you should support them. Support Small. Support Local. I regret not having a wonderful picture of my bagel sandwich to show. My first time going there and my daughter goes regularly. The food was absolutely delicious. My bagel was fresh, the egg was thick and fluffy, and the sausage was delicious. I had a breakfast bagel. They are definitely doing bagels right at the shop. The service was wonderful. I believe it was the owners behind the counter, has been a wife. Absolutely lovely people giving five star service. The ambience was what you would expect. Family environment. There are a few tables to sit at and enjoy your meal. My only disappointment was a customer mistreating the vendor. She was getting upset because she didn't understand what she was being told and she had to make a scene about it. the husband used profanity and walked towards the door, but decided not to walk out. That was what we walked into. Despite being treated that way, the vendor was still kind and upbeat. My son and I were nearby and I happened to notice this place and with a unexpected & immediate need for a donut it just worked out perfectly! We ordered four donuts three mixed maple/chocolate and one chocolate and I must say that they are very good. They are soft and the glaze was just right. The customer service was also very good. The only two things that I would say were a bit of a disappointment was that the prices are on the high side and also they don't take credit cards, so I was lucky that my son had some cash, otherwise it would be a task to go get cash in a pinch. So I wouldn't call this place my daily spot due to the prices, but I would definitely come here if I don't mind the splurge! read more

Their donuts here are really good. they're what I want when I want a donut it's not too fancy and definitely not too sugary. It is the perfect consistency of what you want a donut to be when it comes to doughness. I got the regular dozen and they were amazing. I can only imagine how delicious the fancy donuts are. The doughnuts here were okay. I got the glazed doughnut, which was very yeasty in taste and texture. I also got the cinnamon sugar cake doughnut and it was pretty dry unfortunately. Both doughnuts were cold, but I get it, production and staffing are challenging nowadays. They do offer bubble tea and biscuits and gravy; both were intriguing but I did not have the opportunity to try them on this trip. Overall, I do appreciate this donut place since it is conveniently located close to home. However, the doughnuts did not hit the spot for me and I will continue my donut quest. read more

Tops on my list: Biscuits and gravy.. followed closely by an apple filled bear-claw but you need to source your own favorites as the 1-2 mixed dozen I buy "to go" for friends runs the gamut.. Glad it's not walking distance from either home or the gym or all would be lost.... or gained. I have been on a quest searching for the perfect donut shop that carries all your basics, none of that voodoo stuff. Cal's has great donuts, only thing that frustrates me is they seemingly only make one batch of donuts to last the entire day? Just went in at 10am for a glazed, mind you they open at 6 and close at 4, I got the last glazed for the day. Sometimes I go in and leave empty handed because they don't have anything. I get it production and staffing is an issue but please, maybe adjust your business hours if you aren't going to have donuts that last you through the day. read more

Is there another donut store in Eugene? Who cares?! You cannot go wrong with Cal's. Their Maple Bars are out of this world! In fact, I've never had anything I didn't think was excellent - even at the end of the day when stock is running a little short. The people who work there happen to be nice as well. I've been served by the owners and their kids and have always received great service. This is always our first stop on a road trip, too.
