Tasty food! It's just crab, cod, halibut, salmon, or clams fried up with some chips on the side. Also soup of the day and clam chowder. Very picturesque scenery too. I would've loved it if they had some kind of greens though (even a baked potato), or non-fried things on the menu though. read more

We stopped at Calvin's Crab House after visiting Cape Flattery. It's a small, cute family run joint right on the water in Cape Flattery. We got Crab, Clam Chowder, Salmon. For the Salmon we replaced the chips with a salad. The Salmon was good, the salad was fresh. When we ordered the Clam Chowder, we were told that it isn't the usual creamy clam chowder, it's their traditional clam chowder that is more like a soup. We decided to try it, I liked it as a soup, wouldn't think of it as Clam Chowder. The crab was good, fresh served with butter and lemon. They have chairs and picnic benches outside, facing the water. We really enjoyed our food from this location and would highly recommend. It doesn't get a 5 just because I consider restrooms in my reviews and they only had a portable toilet. The service was great. The gal at the counter was fast with entering the order and even brought our food out to the chairs outside. Perfect ratio of breading to fish, good flavor to the breading, and the fish was fresh and flaky. Usually the chips in a fish n chips are lackluster, but their fries here are so much better than you would normally find! Their fries are homemade, fresh, and flavorful - finished every single one of them. They also have a little espresso bar and dessert case. Their cinnamon roll is a great end to the meal - gooey and sweet. Coffee was good, too. Small, family-owned business - some of their menu items are seasonal. While we were there, the crab was only available on the weekend. Some places to sit inside... But you should totally get your food to-go and sit outside. Came here before our drive to Cape Flattery and this place was recommended by my children. We were disappointed because they don't have any crabs and chowder so we opted for the salmon fish N chips and my daughter-in-law ordered the clam strips and chips. We did the outdoor seating by the water and we enjoyed the view of Neah Bay. The salmon fish is flaky, not oily and the batter is thin and crispy (the tartar sauce must be homemade, I like it) The restaurant is like an old fashioned spot, limited indoor and outdoor seating but many seemed to grab and go so we had no issues getting a table. Simple menu emphasizing fish and chips, chowder, etc. Chicken strips for the nonseafood eaters. They also have a display with homemade pastries, a nice espresso machine, and a good coffee and tea selection. Do not skip the Cinnamon rolls! I don't know how your Mom makes them, but my Mom is masterful at it! These might be the only cinnamon rolls I have ever had that rivaled Mom's. They seem to make small batches of BIG cinnamon rolls so maybe call the day ahead if you want more than a few. Two was plenty for our family of four. read more

There isn't much of a selection to eat out here in Neah Bay so we ended up here after discovering that Pat's Place was unexpectedly closed. When we got here around noon we were told that they had ran out of crab and salmon :( Ended up ordering their popcorn shrimp and fish and chips. Service was quick. Pretty run of the mill joint overall, but there's a spectacular view! This is one of the last food spots you'll encounter before embarking further west towards the coast, so if you're hungry I'd definitely recommend making this a pit stop! read more

Quaint and cozy waterfront shack with friendly and fast counter service. We ordered the Halibut and the Salmon fish and chips, both were delicious. The chips were a little soggy but the large portions of the fish were such that we didn't have room to eat the fries anyways. Just a heads up in case you are bringing a furry friend, there are several dogs running loose. They were very friendly to people but I'm not sure how they are with other dogs. read more

If you ever find yourself in Neah Bay, you will be sure to see signs all around recommending that you go to Calvin's crab House. Listen to the signs! Calvin's crab House is located just before you get to the road that goes out to the various hikes. We came here after our hike because of all the signs Lisa posted. I highly recommend getting there first thing for lunch. After we placed her order and sat down, there was a big influx of locals that came for lunch, so just be ready for a wait if you see a lot of people. I definitely recommend getting the fish and chips, specifically the halibut and chips. Unfortunately, when we were there it was not crab season so we weren't able to taste any of the crab options. Their fish and chips are amazing! I also really like their fries. They are well seasoned. They also are definitely REAL potatoes! There aren't a lot of seating options, a few stools indoor and a few picnic tables and chairs outside. But don't let that stop you from trying out their food! Went on a 10 mile hike on Shi Shi beach and stopped off here afterwards. Had heard about it on yelp and from the Minimart cashier. We were hungry after a sandwich and Clif bars so decided to stop. Had the salmon & chips and halibut & chips as they didn't have crab. As others have said, it is cramped but did have some window seating inside but many chairs outside. The mocha we ordered was 'the best I'd ever had' (from my son) and the food was great. Would definitely come again. read more

My hubby and I went hiking at Cape Flattery and wanted to try their local seafood. After all, they are THE northwest point. Unfortunately, their crab and salmon weren't in season since it's winter. We ordered their classic fish and chips. This was by far the tastiest and freshest cod I ever had for fish and chips. Their tartar sauce was ok, I tasted mayo which I am not that big of a fan of. Overall, really good. If it wasn't winter and was summer, we probably would have stayed outside of the shack to eat while taking in the ocean and the sea breeze. 10/10 recommend!! If I come back in the summer, I will definitely grab their seasonal items and take in the views. read more

We had dinner here on 9/13 after hiking out to Cape Flattery. It was the only (and I do mean only) place in the entire town that was open. It's quaint and right on the water but know going into it the seating choices are limited to outdoors (a couple of worn picnic tables and come Adirondack chairs) and that there is no restroom (there is a porta-pottie and water pump in the driveway of the house attached to the restaurant for customer use). I was surprised to see Calvin's is also a bakery and the treats did look good, but we were here for a meal. W/out crabs in season the choices are fish and chips and prawns and chips. I opted for the halibut & chips which was the right choice - hearty pieces of lightly breaded fish that was clearly fresh. The prawns were good but very small. The fries are a bit lackluster. Overall this was good! The service was friendly and the view is out of this world, but when you're the only game in town, it's easy to stand out. read more

Cute little crab shack located on the Makah reservation. It's right on the water and although there are a few seats inside, you will most likely have to wait/eat outside while enjoying the view. We were there on a sunny day and enjoyed watching some birdwatching while sitting on the benches out front. It was a holiday when we went to a lot of restaurants on the reservation were closed so it may have been busier than usual, but it was about a 30 minute wait for our food, which the cashier told us about ahead of time. She was a sweetie, and there were recent pictures of her on the wall, playing in the state girl's high school basketball championship. I assume that Calvin must be her proud family member. We got the salmon chowder to eat while waiting for our halibut and chips. The chowder was delightful, although I wish there was a bit more salmon in it. But the fish and chips were the real hit! For $18, you got 3 decent sized pieces of halibut, what a steal!! The texture was perfect, not too greasy, perfect amount of batter. And the chips were home style, the perfect combo of potato-iness and salt. The cashier brought it out to us and we enjoyed our meal in the sunshine. So nice! read more

Incredible fish. The salmon Cesar was divine and I don't typically enjoy Cesar salads. The fish and chips are also delicious. I went with the halibut but would want to try the salmon next time. It's a pretty tiny space, so I'd suggest taking it to-go or eating outside. They have spaces inside but it's narrow. Was very excited to try this place and taste the seasonal dishes. I was fortunate enough to have gotten the crab with a side of butter and salmon n chips. The crab was delicious and perfectly complimented by the butter that stayed soft and didn't change form (signs of that good butter). I'm simple with lemon, salt, Tabasco, butter and you're good to go. My partner who is newer to seafood tried the crab as well and enjoyed the flavor alongside the butter. The salmon and chips were textured, crunchy, and seasoned. The batter was what you imagine for fish n chip batter. The salmon has that natural color speaking to the freshness and localness of the ingredients. Fries were crispy and yummy. I can't wait to be back again and eat more from this place. This small shack is a great spot for quick bite or a leisurely lunch by the water. The owners of the place were very friendly. The place is really tiny but they've got a decent spread of seafood and some interesting drinks. Ordered two items selectively: Fish N Chips : The fish was great but chips were the highlight. They looked like they were prepared with a different kind of potato. The one that is indigenous to the region. Crab meat : This was served with a side of butter which enhanced the taste. I wish the meat was fresh and not kept in the refrigerator. But the quality of the meat was great nonetheless. Also tried the Huckleberry Soda which tasted similar to grape soda. It was loaded with sugar so health conscious people can skip this one. The place also serves coffee and they seems to have a great spread of syrups.
