Oh this clinic is simply wonderful! Nestled in the heart of beautiful Cambria on a hill, it looks like something out of lord of the rings - but the staff and Vets are even more splendid. My dog Inga and I were on vacation in the area when she needed urgent medical attention, and Cambria Vet got us in right away. Since then, Dr Elizabeth and CVC have become our new vet and we drive far to see them! They're worth it... wonderful, hands on approach and much appreciated bedside manner. We were on a three week visit to our second home in Cambria and one of our dogs started limping and favoring her left paw. We were able to get an appointment the next day at Cambria Veterinary Clinic. The staff there from the receptionist, technician who showed us to an examination room and the technician who assisted Dr. Casey Erickson were all extremely friendly, caring and professional. Dr. Erickson was great and filled us with confidence that we brought Izzy to the right place. She was able to determine the exact reason for Izzy's limp and was able to take care of her infected toe nail. We followed up with her a few days later and received the same care and treatment. Izzy was seen by our regular vet when we returned home and she is back to her normal self. Being out of town with your pets can fun but also worrisome should something go wrong. We now don't worry about our dogs when we make the drive here as we know, if any of them need medical attention, Cambria Veterinary Clinic is there to help us. read more

I can't say enough about Dr. Alex and his amazing team of exceptional professionals. When it came time to euthanize my beloved dog Buddha, Dr. Alex came to our place to lessen everyone's stress, especially Buddha's. It was so heart wrenching, and a day I never wanted to face. Dr. Alex was extremely kind, understanding, and patient. He truly made all the difference. After Buddha died, I recieved a beautiful card with notes of condolence from everyone in the clinic. It was very appreciated during that terrible time of grief. Dr. Alex is also a great vet, very knowledgeable, yet able to explain complex issues in a simple way. My dogs are everything to me, and I trust Dr. Alex with them completely. I recently adopted a dog (Tommy) with a lot of issues, including dental. Dr. Alex did a fantastic job on his dental surgery. Tommy had 8 broken teeth that were covered over by his gums. Dr. Alex was able to surgically remove these teeth, relieving years of pain he endured, unbeknowst to the rescuers who had been caring for him. Dr. Alex gave Tommy a new lease on life - pain-free. The surgery was a total success. All of the staff are superlative, expertly skilled, caring, and go out of their way to help. A prime example is Emily. When Emily found out that Tommy was blind, she gave me a book on how to best care for a blind dog - so thoughtful and appreciated! Received awesome care by the team here when my dog, Kona, had some eye irritation while we were visiting the area from Seattle. They were able to take her in immediately, which is not something I would ever expect with my vet back at home. They also were able to get Kona's records from our vet, and had all her info between the time I initially called and when I brought her in. My dog is a bit reactive at the vet, so they had to sedate her, and pulled out a big foxtail that had worked it's way around to the back side of her eye! Fortunately, it was a pretty quick procedure and we were in and out within a few hours. On top of all that, I was pleasantly surprised that the bill was far lower than expected, given the sedation and follow up pain meds they provided. Not sure I'll even file a pet insurance claim. They even called me a couple days later to check on how Kona was doing. I LOVE CVC and had an A+++++ experience; I wish I could give them more than 5-stars! I was looking for a nearby vet office that had high rated reviews for their dental services. I have two goldendoodles, Coco (2yrs old) and Chanel (1yr old) and my oldest needed teeth cleaning due to tartar and plaque build-up. I was stressed about how doggy dental disease can lead to extractions, bacteria, and other gum issues. I am a firm believer that preventive dental care is key to great health for both humans and dogs. I came across CVC which is owned by a husband, wife and partner team, who all have fur babies. I called to ask questions whether CVC was taking on new clients and about their dental cleaning services. Emily was so professional and patient in explaining the services, doctors' schedules, pricing, obtaining existing vet records, last lab tests, etc., that I immediately scheduled more services (vacs, general wellness exams and lab tests) including spaying services for Chanel, the younger one. Dr. Alex, who is an obvious, kind people person and animal lover, performed the general wellness exams. He took his time in educating me on a couple of unusual female anatomy attributes, that were not health concerns but more for me to be aware of and for future hygiene care. He also explained that both dogs, who can be prone to hip dysplasia, have very good hips/movements. Dr. Casey, who performed both the teeth cleaning and spaying, is highly technical, genuine and attentive. She thoroughly and patiently explained the lab and bloodwork results, anesthesia, procedures, medication optionality and the after effect. She is very caring, confident and collected so she provided me with a sense of calmness. The pups also had a spa day as complimentary ear cleaning and nail trimming were included as perks with the dental and spaying services. The exam room had a personalized welcome sign. The medical instruction sheet had their names on the letterhead rather than a copy. WOW; these are the thoughtful things that set businesses apart! I also explained to Dr. Alex and Dr. Casey that both dogs turned out to be the smallest dogs of their respective litters even though they were not the runts, perhaps due to the fact that I prepare balanced, formulated meals and do not feed them kibble or any highly processed foods. It would be fantastic if fresh food, pet nutrition education and services will be offered at CVC so pawrents like myself can be continually educated and informed. With Dr. Alex, Dr. Casey and the entire CVC staff (esp. Emily, Brianna, Jordan), we could not be more pleased with the compassionate and loving care that our pups have received. CVC truly cares about their patients and pawrents and that is hard to find these days. I hope this review will help others when perusing through Yelp reviews. read more

We are new to Cambria and have 4 dogs. We are thrilled to have the amazing vets and staff of Cambria Veterinary Clinic available to us! We recently took our 12-year old Chiweenie, Zuki, in for a much-needed dental visit. Dr. Casey kept us informed during the procedure to advise us that some extractions were necessary and got our permission to do so. She also took before and after photos of Zuki's teeth! We had no idea how bad they were nor how great they could look! It wasn't just aesthetically beneficial, but Zuki had some infected areas that were treated with a course of antibiotics. It's been ten days and our old pup has got a bounce in her step once again. I would encourage other pet owners to not overlook the importance of regular dental appointments. Since moving to Cambria a few years back, I was in need of a good Doc for my 14 year old lab mix who was in really great shape - and I wanted to keep her in that condition. Her name was Pupaya and she was a Daddy's Girl who needed no leash in most places. I took her everywhere so she could say hi to as many as possible, she was a true sweetheart. The team at Dr. Alex's Cambria Vet Clinic went out of their way to welcome us to the practice and provided the best possible care for my pup. They did an outstanding job in keeping her happy and moving pain free in her golden years. I was relieved to have found them. So after 17 years on the planet, it was time to let my girl go so we setup an appointment to let her rest in my lap on the lawn as Dr. Alex guided us through the graceful process with such care. The entire staff is terrific, both doctors are wonderful, the prices are more than fair, and I hope you choose to take your furry friends there because there is none better. This vet clinic is outstanding! Truly caring compassionate friendly and informative Dr and staff. We were visiting cambria for a long weekend as we often do and never had the need for vet services until now. Our 6 month old puppy was perfectly normal, took a nap after playing and woke up to seizure like symptoms. We drove straight to this clinic and arrived 30 minutes before they closed. They took her in without question and started helping her immediately like she had been their patient all along. Dr Elizabeth was amazing!!! She explained everything to us, gave us all the options, and treated our puppy like she was their own. Beyond thorough, answered every question we asked, gave honest opinions and recommendations when asked, and very patient with us even though it's now past closing time as we were wrecks as puppy parents. Cambria is lucky to have the Drs and staff at this clinic. They truly care about the fur patients and their parents. If I lived anywhere near Cambria this would be where I take our puppy! I was in Morro Bay over the weekend and my dog developed a limp in her hind leg, Dr. Alex was able to see me even though his schedule was full and I am so grateful for his staff for helping with this accommodation. Dr. Alex and his remarkable team are wonderful. Our dog was diagnosed with a rare type of bladder stones, and after doing some research, we did not believe that surgery was the only option for our boy. Thankfully we found Dr. Alex in Cambria. We drove 3 1/2 hours to see him and would do it all over again. Dr. Alex performed a void urohydropulsion (a non-surgical procedure that flushes the stones from the bladder). His method worked incredibly well, and we saw immediate results. Our boy is now stone-free and happy without having to undergo surgery. Dr. Alex's passion and transparency are exemplary. It's reassuring that our boy has such a knowledgeable and empathetic veterinarian on his side. From the bottom of our hearts, we extend our gratitude to Dr. Alex and his fantastic team. While vacationing over in Cayucos my 50 pound Doodle ripped one of her toenails exposing the quick. I contacted this vet's office at 8:15 a.m. And they were able to see her at 9. We were greeted very kindly upon arrival, filled out a little bit of paperwork, and they got her right in. The doctor was very thorough in his explanation and options that were available. Because my dog was in pain I opted to go with a small surgical procedure to have the toenail and the quick cut back, so healing/pain would be minimal. I left her with them, and received a call at 11 o'clock letting me know that the procedure went well and my girl did great. They kept her for observation until 3:00 p.m. When I went to pick her up, she was happy to see me, but didn't seem at all in distress! I felt like everyone here from the receptionist to the vet tech, to the vet himself were all animal lovers, and treated both Gertie and myself very kind! I felt like their pricing was very fair and included the antibiotics and pain medication as well. They even called this morning to check and see how Gertie did last night.Now I have another excuse to get over to the coast, yearly check-ups!! read more

Although I really like Dr. Suzy when she was on maternity leave I had to put my dog down it was the worst experiences I've ever had at a veterinarian clinic. When we got there all they had was a little towel on the floor for us to lay the dog down on we had to tell them to get us something softer for our pet. Before Dr. Suzy left on maternity leave we had discussed what we would do when the time came and we also discussed the price so when I took my dog in I was expecting to pay the price agreed on. The doctor came in and she asked me if I wanted to use a sedative. I was really taken aback I'd never ever experienced that before when I've taken in pets before that was never even mentioned to me. Of course I would want my dog to have a sedative. Once the sedative was given my dog head just kept going back-and-forth and back-and-forth. 10 minutes later when the vet came in I asked what's going on she said it must not have been enough. It was so upsetting the whole experience was just really awful. Once it was over I went to the front desk to pay I was told that my bill was almost $100 more than what I had previously discussed with the Dr. Suzy. Anytime I have had this experience in the past I've always paid in advance it just seems like it's a much easier solution because you're so upset at the end. Then to put the icing on the cake when they called to tell me to pick up my dogs ashes they were having a party in the background loud noises laughing and carrying on when this was a very solemn and serious situation for me and they thought it was a big joke. I wouldn't recommend this Vet to the last living remaining pet in the world. read more

While vacationing in Cambria for a week, I had to take my dog, Bandit, to be evaluated and have his blood sugar checked. Bandit has a terminal illness, a tumor on his pancreas called an insulinoma. I had been in contact with my vet in Flagstaff while we were away, but I needed some prescription meds for Bandit. Wow, was this place great. A very caring receptionist, Diane Toman was our introduction to the practice. A knowlegable and kind vet tech, Lanz Van Beurden was the next person we met and finally "Dr. Suzy", Suzy Hochgesang...really smart and really caring. Everyone was terrific. They could not have been nicer or more understanding and they were all very kind to Bandit. It was a stressful time for us and everyone at Cambria Veterinary Clinic was extremely kind and helpful. We made it home to Flagstaff without any trouble and for now, Bandit is doing fine. If he could talk, I think he would say "I'm OK mom, just not up to that young dog stuff any more". I was on vacation in Cambria (favorite place ever !! when i discoverd my elderly dog had blood in her urine - my local vet suggested i take her in to a vet immediately so i called upon Cambria Vet Clinic and was astounded at the amazing very quick service we received !! She was given an urinalysis and sure enough an advanced UTI was discovered. Alex prescribed not only an antibiotic but also a pain med for her lower back nerve displasia. My dog, Cooper, was receiving in two days from the UTI and is doing very well on the pain med. The professionalism and information i received as above par and the service - wow they are all so friendly !!! i HIGHLY recommend these guys -- your pet is in GOOD LOVING Hands there !!.. woof read more

I spent a lot of time and effort reading reviews from Doggy Daycare to Groomers and Pet Sitters in the area. I settled on Cambria Vet Clinic based on their reviews and the bios on their website - and so glad I did. Dr. Alex responded to my Yelp inquiry In less than an hour. Hannah was sweet and accommodating on the phone and answered all my questions before I made my reservation. Two reasonable options available, $24 for half day (up to 5 hrs) or $29 for full day. When we arrived to drop them off, it was a very warm and inviting homey environment which is exactly what I was hoping for. I've never left my dogs in a kennel, so this was a great and convenient option that I will definitely use again on my next visit to the area. Thank you for taking good care of my babies! read more

I was actually just in town for a few days when I noticed my Mastiff/ American Bulldog (Nixon) wasn't eating and wasn't acting himself so I made an appointment for an examine. They wanted to run some blood work and it ended up he needed to be on some antibiotics for an infection. The results were fast both vets were extremely helpful and honest.
