The entire team acted quickly, kept me informed, and treated me with genuine kindness the entire time. The paramedic who cared for me was especially wonderful. He explained every medication before giving it to me, made sure I understood what to expect, and even got me a blanket to help keep me comfortable. One nurse also went out of her way to bring me the fluids I requested since I hadn't eaten that morning, and even brought me food. That level of compassion and attentiveness truly stood out. This experience was night and day compared to my previous experiences before Vanderbilt took over, and I genuinely believe they are on track to providing this community with the level of care patients deserve. It's an EMERGENCY department, show some urgency! The women at the waiting room desk, with not another soul in sight just looked at me lost and had no customer service whatsoever. This place is a joke! After waiting around for no reason they finally come into the room to tell us they don't have the equipment for the problem my mother was having! Why did the ambulance even bring her there? No communication at all... Hickman county emergency services are a joke all around.

I was involved in a car accident on Highway 13, north of Erin. Flew through the air, down into a…read moredeep gully, totaling the car. The ambulance arrived, cleaned off the blood and transported me to this place. I cannot imagine a worse level of medical "care". They put me on a bed in the ER, hooked me up to a monitor and took my vitals. And left me. After an indeterminate amount of time (apparently most of the staff were dealing with the woman in the next bed who "fell" and was screaming for demerol because that's what her doctor ALWAYS gives her), a doctor came in, poked me in the ribs a few times and said he would need an x-ray. After more waiting, they rolled me down the hall to radiology, where I was x-rayed. Turns out the ribs were not broken, so they gave me an anti-inflammatory shot and sent me home. Never cleaned or dressed my cuts and abrasions. Never even did a cursory exam for concussion. Told me if the ribs didn't feel better soon, I should follow up with my primary care physician.

My daughter had open heart surgery at Vanderbilt on the 29th of April. After she came home just a…read morefew days later she was in a lot of pain, and was having a hard time breathing. Well she lives only about 20 minutes from Erin, so the doctor that did her surgery, wanted her to go to the nearest hospital, and just have a CT scan done, to make sure that she didn't have a blood clot in her lungs. She got there between 4:30 and 5:00 pm. it was 3 hours later that they finally got around to doing anything for her. Then only to tell her that she was dehydrated and that he had to run some fluids in before he could do the CT scan. He ask her why did she come there instead of going to Vanderbilt where she had the surgery, she told him that the doctor just wanted her to go to the closest hospital just to have the CT scan run. This Dr. Lye I think was his name a African American doctor said to her so Vanderbilt wants us to take care of their problems. He was very rude to her. Just about scared her to death he told her that she had something wrong with her artery, and that they will need to call lifefligh. He did not have enough common sense to know that he was looking at where they had repaired her heart. Then he went on to say that he was going to try something else, so after putting fluids in her he started her on Lasix, this was around 11:00 pm. About 12:30 am., he decides to transfer her to Vanderbilt, only after the doctors in Nashville were not getting any feedback from him they requested him to transfer her to Vanderbilt, needless to say at 3:00 am. He finally sent her to Nashville. So would I ever recommended this hospital to anyone, no way, and I will let everyone I know the treatment she got there I have never seen any hospital that a person coming in with known heart problems that they did not see them right away. So I would suggest, if you need anything done go to Dickson, and bypass this Hospital all together. I would like to give this hospital a -star rating.

With a significant puncture wound, immediate swelling, and bruising, and with my history of MRSA, ( that left the scar on my face after having emergency surgery due to the risk of it spreading to my eye, I didn't take any chances and went to Perry County Community Hospital. I was beyond impressed. The staff was incredible, the doctor was thorough and compassionate, and the facility itself is beautiful--truly modern and equipped with state-of-the-art technology. For a hospital its size, it exceeded every expectation. I have nothing but respect for Maury Regional Medical Center and all they handle, but having Perry County Community Hospital as an option is a real blessing. If you ever find yourself needing care, I highly recommend giving them a chance--you'll be glad you did. Misty Pollock

Response is immediate when needed and care by far the best. The dr's have been both knowledgeable and personable and the nurses are the best by far. Being a retired RN of 30 yrs., with 25 in nursing management , I feel I am more than adequately able to notice and recognize not only good nursing care but excellent . I am sorry for whomever judged your facility a 1 but you definitely do not deserve that! Thank you for everything.
