When I moved to Arizona from Ohio last year my company paid to move all of my stuff. After having that experience, I knew I'd always pay for movers going forward. So when I looked online to review moving services for my move from Old Town to Kierland, I took note of Camelback Moving's Yelp reviews. I was very impressed. I looked at a few other places, but this one seemed the most reputable, so I went with them. Afte a phone conversation, I put $200 down and locked in my date. The $200 goes towards your total move costs. The person I spoke with was very helpful. I described to him exactly what I had, the size of the apt, etc and he estimated it to be about $1400. It ended up being $1381. I could not believe how spot on he was by just going off of my descriptions. I also appreciate how transparent they are about insurance. They really encourage you to look on their website and to be educated on what insurance covers, etc. I reviewed all of the information in detail. I still chose not to buy anything additional, but it was a welcomed FYI and made me feel confident that they are a very ethical business, not trying to hide things in all of the minute details. They sent me three movers, which was good because in my old apartment, I lived a lengthy walk from the loading dock, so it took quite a bit of time for them to go back and forth. My new apartment is right by the parking lot and only has one flight of stairs. So unpacking took much less time than packing up and getting things in the truck. Staff was friendly and helpful. They were really busting their butts and I felt bad about them having to work so hard in the crazy desert July heat! But they didn't complain at all. All told, I am 2 weeks into living here in my apt and I appreciate how the movers set everything up. Nothing was damaged and they were a pleasure to work with! I also don't do stairs as well as I did 17+ years ago when I moved in to the 2nd story apartment. They showed up on time. Were pleasant and only some minor dings. My house sold quickly and the new buyers were very anxious to move in as soon as possible. I contacted Camelback Moving to see how soon they would be available for my whole house of furniture to move. I was amazed that they could move me that week if I liked. Literally, I called on Monday and the crew moved me on Thursday...incredible. The 3 guys on the crew were great: strong, efficient, VERY careful (when they saw that my new house had wood floors they ran to the hardware store to buy adhesive felts to put on the bottom of every chair leg and piece of furniture), and they were good natured and respectful. I had a large treadmill as part of the move. They called in a company treadmill specialist with specific training on my model to work on the disassembly and reassembly of the unit. He was great too. They also took two flatscreen televisions off the wall from my old house and reinstalled them at the new place. Great guys, reasonable prices, great service. I could not have been happier. Not sure who thinks moving at the start of a pandemic is a good idea or do it when you have to fly in from 2500 miles away and then fly right back out the day after but yet, there we were. My first contact with Camelback Moving was with Melissa and right off the bat I had a good feeling (my husband says I'm a witch and I'm sure he means it in this way and not the other connotation). When Larry came to do a walk through to give us an estimate on both time and price he was thorough and asked, what I felt, was all the "right" questions. I booked the move and didn't give it another thought. We flew into Phoenix Friday evening for our Monday morning move only to find out that everyone but Camelback Moving had cancelled on us. Not a really great way to start and honestly I was not feeling good about any of this. Add in that just about everything I was moving was glass and heavy and I switched into serious freak out mode (and I'm not one who freaks out which then put my husband into freak out mode). Well, Michael and Byron were having none of it! They arrived Monday morning at 8 on the button, walked around to check everything out (including the really, really heavy glass curio cabinet on the second floor that was no longer being produced and which I really, really loved even though I know it's just a stupid curio cabinet and in the big picture of life who cares) and just got to work. That was it. They got to work. They wrapped and wrapped with super care as if all my items were their items. At the same time they were friendly, funny (I'm from New England so like to throw in sarcasm when I can and appreciate it being taken for what it is and being given back to me), kind to us and our belongings and just overall fabulous guys. They kept the same attitude when they arrived at my new home and insisted that I be 1000% happy with where each and every item was placed. If they noticed I was sort of hesitating about something they wouldn't stop asking me until they could see I was satisfied! Including that stupid, all glass, incredibly heavy curio cabinet that they had to drag down from the second floor. Everything was put back together to my satisfaction and they made sure everything was in perfect working order before they moved onto the next item. So much of this house has qualified for a role in the movie The Money Pit or an episode of some remodeling reality show where each week you think the owners aren't going to make it through to the end of the season but the move was, by far, the best, easiest, most efficient and fairly priced thing we did. First off, I hate moving. Hate it. Thats why I don't move very often. And since I'm permanently working from home, I decided I no longer wanted to pay the exorbitant rental rates in Scottsdale. Normally I would secure a mover several weeks in advance, but I procrastinated. Thankfully Camelback Moving was able to come out on a Saturday, which is almost unheard with under a week's notice. Terrance and Juwan were great. They called me ahead of time to let me know they'd be there In 30 minutes, and were prompt. I had a large sectional, king size bed, TV/stand that needed to be moved, as well as many smaller boxes that I was going to just throw in my car. They kept asking me if I wanted to throw them in the truck. They were clear about start time/rates, etc. So there were no surprises. On the way to my new place, I had to stop to pick up my dog, so they arrived about 20 minutes ahead of me. By the time I got there, they had unloaded almost everything and was able to quickly move things into my new place. Let's be honest, hiring movers is not inexpensive. But you reach a certain age when your friends can't be coaxed by a 12-pack and pizza, so you hire professionals. I would definitely recommend Camelback Moving to anyone I know. They treated my belongings with care, and followed up with me a few days later for feedback. I hope I don't need them again in the next 10 yrs, but if I do, I know who to call. read more

Took months to finally get a response from the dispute I put in and only received not even a quarter of the amount of money in damages. I wasn't sure if I could move all my own furniture by myself, so, I decided to hire a three-man crew from Camelback Moving. Turns out, I was right to order a three-man crew because the sofa wouldn't fit through the front door. Instead, they hoisted up onto the balcony and then moved it into my second-story apartment. I appreciated how the crew leader told me about their safety program because I was concerned about their safety and how they could injure themselves. It made me feel better to know that they checked in with their foreman before attempting the hoist. They completed an in-state move in 3 hours including nearly an hour travel time. We were overall very thrilled with the efficiency, hard work, and friendliness of the two gentlemen from Camelback Movers who basically saved the day for my wife and I! Well done to Jesus and Jesus for their work (I forget their last initials), especially in toasty August and lugging stuff up the apartment stairs! We already had scheduled Camelback to move us beginning of October but lo and behold a massive monsoon storm was enough to spring a ceiling leak in our old apartment, causing some damage. The complex said we needed to go in only ONE WEEK time! Luckily Camelback was so accommodating on changing the date up to August without any trouble at all! So pleasant to talk to on the phone even. It did take a bit longer than planned to move us down the street (again it was hot and they had to lug huge things up to a second floor) and was more money than I anticipated to pay for but with all things considered it was worth it! And we didn't have to trouble our few closest friends to toil for our sake and risk never hearing from them again lol. Very professional and responsive. All my questions were answered. We discussed room to room plus outdoor furniture. Everything was considered and put into the estimate so there were no surprises. I've moved a few times and I hate added fees and added time on the job not put into estimate in the first place. They over estimated so it was a welcome surprise when my actual move was less. The movers started right when they walked in and did a quick look around. Each of the four guys had a specific job and they were extremely efficient. On the delivery end they finished quickly. No messing around! No damage to my furniture and they moved things around until I was happy. I would highly recommend this company! As a matter of fact I rehired them a couple of weeks later to move some furniture out and move in some new furniture. Don't waste your time calling around. We recently moved from a large 1 bedroom to a house about 11 miles away. The person I spoke to on the phone was professional and gave the best customer service after calling a few places that day. I had used Camelback moving three times since my move to the Valley in 2006, including once for moving my Dad into independent living in town from Black Canyon City. Always thought of them as the best in the business so I didn't even bother shopping around for my most recent move--a logistic puzzle that included a double closing date--meaning I had to be out on 8/18, stop at storage for furniture I was giving away to a friend, store my belongings overnight and a move-in to my new condo the next day. Camelback took away a ton of stress by explaining the process a little more than a week out from the move and setting things up perfectly with a morning move-out (gave me time to have a cleaning crew come in and do the house) and afternoon move-in after Title had recorded. Everything went off without a hitch, except for the crew having trouble finding our specific unit since we were at the back end of the condo complex (Rose Ln and 12th PL) whereas the address was 12th st. and Maryland. A totally forgivable and minor hiccup which was more funny than anything else! Camelback doesn't start the clock until they start unpacking so no harm no foul! Needless to say Camelback comes with my unconditional recommendation. That being said, I'm hoping to never have to use them again as I absolutely love my new place and plan on being here a long time! read more

Paid to move out of our last 3000sf house, store things for 3 months, and move us into new house. Office staff and movers all friendly and very communicative. Competitive prices (I did a lot of research beforehand). Everyone arrived and finished as scheduled. They were careful not to damage the homes (door frames, floors, etc.). My issue was the actual handling of the boxes and pieces. Several boxes came back crushed, some of the more sensitive furniture pieces (like inexpensive bookshelves) were damaged. Even for boxes that weren't crushed, dishes we had cocooned inside in bubble wrap were still shattered. When unloading they told us that the boxes were crushed because they weren't fully packed -- simply not true (example pic attached). I've moved enough to expect some things to get damaged, but this is more than I expected. read more

Not the cheapest moving service, but given previous experience it was worth the extra cost. No broken door frames, items, etc that has happened with previous moves. I chose Camelback Moving because of the reviews and a yelp deal. I had a 2-man crew for a 2-bedroom apartment to a 2-bedroom townhome. I thought ok, this might take 3-4 hours paying maybe $600-$700. Nope, 7 hours, about $1000... I had a friend tell me she moved a 4-bedroom house to a 3-bedroom condo from Surprise to Chandler and was faster and cheaper (different movers). This move was only 5 miles away After the first walk through the guys went back to the truck and it took them almost 20 min to return to start moving stuff. this time gap happened often. I said I would move boxes on my dolly to save time. The movers said, "no sit back and relax, we got this". I did end up using my dolly on my own terms because it was just taking to long... The apt complex did have an elevator and a garage, hence why I wanted to help to save time and bring boxes down on my own dolly. I understand that they are trained to be super cautious and to wrap and tape everything (even while on a dolly). They would tape boxes together to move on a dolly, then untape to load the truck, then tape again in the truck. The move is only 5 miles away. My suggestions: If a client says don't worry about doing something, skip it. If a client wants to help move boxes to help save time, let them. Maybe make use of the flatbed dolly a more often to move more at a time. Overall, the overs were nice and they were careful. Just way longer and more costly than expected.
