First off a nice friendly greet by Mia. She was very informative and just plain nice. I would have given this place a 5, except we had to go upstairs, which was hard for my husband. Plus carry luggage. Also a Hugh tub that you could hardly step over the rim to get into. Found out they have other rooms, no stairs and walk in showers (next time). The room was quite lovely and we both slept soundly. Bathroom was fine except the tub situation. Homemade cookies and wine in the afternoon. The breakfast was fantastic. Good coffee, plus my raw sugar, tea, yogurt with nuts and berries. Also homemade strawberry muffins. We had a panini with ham, cheese and egg on a delicious toasted bread, cantaloupe slices and potatoes. You can walk to so many restaurants and shops. They also are affiliated with some tasting rooms, so you get two for one tasting. read more

I've been staying here the past two years with my gf for our annual trip to the Healdsburg Food and Wine event. They have the most reasonable prices and the amenities of the home made cookies, wine around 5, free tastings at their participating wineries and home cooked breakfast in the mornings. The parking situation out back can be kind of tight. They have a pool which I've never visited and the general feel of the stay in the big Victorian house is cozy. Don't expect updated and remodeled rooms. Everything is pretty old with squeaky floors and older plumbing, but the AC's and fans are functional, and the water is hot for your showers or bath. If you need water, there's a water machine in the lobby to refill your bottles and most importantly, Camellia is blocks from the square which is where all the action happens and perfect for a night out to not have to drive or Uber. Breakfasts vary. It can be a fancy egg concoction- sometimes poached with potatoes, a scramble or maybe a fancy waffle and all with yogurt beforehand. The tea is fancy loose leaf. The orange juice is fresh squeezed. It's a peaceful place to lay your head at night and visit Healdsburg being within a few blocks to the square. I'll probably be back again next year! read more

We have stayed here before but this weekend was a 3 night event with the Wilson Winery. We were in a different room (better and each room has it's own character). Each afternoon, there are fresh cookies and wine, of course. Great wines and plenty of it. The breakfasts are always tasty and the coffee is top notch. There is a full size outdoor pool (heated) on the property. This Inn is only a 5 minute walk or so from downtown Healdsburg, so you don't have to worry about finding parking downtown. Our host, Mia for this trip, is a very happy, friendly person and enjoyable to be around. A very pleasant experience!!! read more

It definitely feels sad to re-review the Camellia Inn with only a 3-star review. I have been several times in the past, but not for six years. The Inn is no longer privately owned, and is now owned by the Wilson Winery group. I used to stay there when the owners were Lucy Leward and her father. They were super interested in their guests, and would have conversations with us and the other guests each evening. They brought the guests together by having a nightly cheese and wine hour, with lots of games in the parlor room. They would also decorate the inn so it looked beautiful for the various holidays. My husband and I stayed for three nights in November under the new ownership when attending a wine event in the area. There were two inn keepers there during the time we were there. They were polite, but that was about the extent of it. We pretty much spoke at check-in and check-out. We did get a welcome glass of wine upon arrival. They do also offer cookies in the lobby in the late afternoon, that I didn't try. The other nice thing is that breakfasts are made for each guest as we arrive to the dining room so that it is nice and hot. I will say that the breakfast is OK, but a little greasy. I do like that they offer a fruit and yogurt parfait along with the breakfast. The other thing that I did not like was the state of repair of some of the rooms. , The jacuzzi tub in our room was really old looking. There were some parts of the tub that had chipped off. There was also a gas fireplace in the room. We couldn't get it to work, and when I asked, I learned that it was not functional. In past years, I had really appreciated the relaxing jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces in the rooms. It was really part of the charm of the Inn. I know that they are trying to do some renovations, but, at the moment, it seems like they are behind. Though I am disappointed about the change in ownership and the less personal feel, I will say that it is still a lovely old home in a peaceful neighborhood, just blocks from the restaurants and wine tasting rooms. It is still a nice place to stay, but could definitely use some improvements. read more

These people are untrustworthy. I reserved two king rooms in November 25 for an a wedding the following June along with a 50% deposit. The end of April 26 they called to say the Inn was fully booked and my reservations were canceled. They offered me a suite and a king room at a sister Inn a few blocks away which I accepted. After not receiving a confirmation email I called them again. Only to be told the sister Inn was booked as well but offered to refund my deposit. Not so fast though, by taking my money and not making me whole they are in breach of contract. Buyer beware! read more

We were in Healdsburg for a couple of days on a girls trip. We stayed at the Camellia Inn and it was the perfect place to stay! The whole inn is so cute and I love the ambiance. We had so much fun sitting at the pool to set our weekend started and walking around to really get a feel for the grounds. The three of us stayed in a suite together which was perfect. The space was big enough for all of us and we never felt cramped. The morning we had breakfast was great. The owner was super accommodating for my sister who is GF. The breakfast was great! The overall charm of the inn was adorable and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. We also enjoyed walking around the neighborhood as well. The inn is in a great location and we were able to walk to all of our meals planned during the trip. The inn helped make our weekend super memorable and now will always be a great experience to talk about with my family. I would recommend staying here to anyone going to this area. read more

We rented two rooms. One was cute and basically fine (although whole place could use a little TLC (eg, lots of stains on the rug). Second room was basically in the basement -- not sure what was going on with this room -- but the rug had been removed and it had TWO large dehumidifiers running. Very musty. I complained to the night manager who said she would reach out to the inn manager but never heard back for her (despite me following up). Complained to the representative on site the next morning -- he said he wasn't really an employee of the inn so he knew nothing about the room. It was especially frustrating because we were actually entertaining guests there over the weekend. Also, when we asked about making reservations for a wine tasting at Wilson Winery as guests of the Inn they told us we didn't need any and for us to just go. BUT when we got there they said it was full and they had no openings for a tasting. They did serve very delicious breakfasts both mornings. read more

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this Inn while we explored Healdsburg. Breakfast was very tasty and freshly cooked. We had eggs, bacon, sourdough and a baked apple one day along with fresh fruit and yogurt. Highly recommend staying here! They were doing some renovations at the time but that didn't interfere with our stay. The one suggestion I have is to make the check-in instructions a little more clear, especially for the folks checking in after hours. We had some trouble finding our information packet and our room. Inn: very cute place, well kept, clean, vintage feel We stayed in the East Tower room - a fairly large room with a king bed and a hot tub (didn't get to use it). It faced the back where the parking lot and pool were. It was a cold weekend but our room was toasty warm with the gas fireplace already on (much appreciated). The bathroom had an awkward shower head above the hot tub and there were no curtains which made it a bit chilly to shower since the bathroom was kinda cold. It was fairly quiet considering there were many other guests and no TVs (a plus). The outside pathways need lights at night, it was a bit of a struggle when we walked back after dinner. Service: After we booked with them, the innkeepers called us asking if we needed help with making reservations for meals and wine tasting and gave us their recommendations based on walking distance (our preference). They had two dinners and a wine tasting booked before our trip. On the day of our check-in, the innkeepers contacted us asking about any dietary preferences (we were stoked they asked as we are lactose intolerant). Gwen was welcoming and helpful at check-in; she helped book our lunch reservation then and there when we asked for a good place to eat. The morning staff were friendly and made us hot breakfasts (see photos). We were pleasantly surprised and appreciative that they had set our baked potatoes aside because they made it without cheese. They also had almond milk for coffee/tea. Location: The inn was easy to find. Near everything in Downtown Healdsburg; we didn't drive our car for the 2.5 days we were there. Cute town with many little stores, restaurants, and of course wine tasting rooms. Note: Many places are closed either Mon, Tue, or Wed (unfortunately the days we were there). Stores tend to open around 10ish and close by 5p and restaurants around 9p-10ish. We ate at Bravas, Willi's, and the Wurst....all great! Had a tasty treat at Noble Folk ice cream and Pie Bar. Also had a great time at the Rockpile Wine tasting room (rainbow chairs at the round about). read more

This Inn is in a good location to walk to the restaurants and shops. The staff was very nice. We did have some issues. We stayed in the newly built out downstairs room and it still needed some things to make it a higher level. Robes and magnify mirror would have been nice. Another rug on the cold floor and a bathroom rug. Instructions for the heater and a TV with cable. Breakfasts were very nice in a cute room but starting at 9 is a little late. Housecleaning was good. Parking was a problem and there was a lot of work being done and outside where our room was didn't have a finished look to it. The Inn is not for people with even slight mobility issues and they should tell you that when you book. Our room had two steps down and there were about 9 steps to get into the house for breakfast. It was nice to have complimentary tastings at Rockville which is an excellent winery! read more

I had made reservations for an anniversary weekend at their sister property. There was an error in the reservation system and they moved us over to this property. We parked our car and asked if where we put it was ok and we were told it was. That night, there were guest that complained about where we parked. No one called us and asked us to move our car. No one knocked on the door of our room to ask us to move the car. We had no idea that we were in anyone's way where we had parked. That night, in the private parking lot of this establishment, behind the building, our car was vandalized. The camera on the parking lot apparently does not capture the entire area. So nothing was caught on tape. The management and other personnel of were aware of what happened. We were even told that they knew who did it!!! But we couldn't prove it. So nothing was done. The hotel offered nothing. And we had no recourse. The hotel was just OK. Nothing special. And, apparently, parking in their back lot is not safe. The whole experience was extremely disappointing. I would certainly never go back! read more

The rest: * run-down property in need of some serious maintenance/refreshes * felt like I was visiting my grandma * horrible breakfast (day 1--some kind of cheese + oil + potatoes + oil + toast + oil. Did I mention the oil? day 2--some chicken sausage fritata kind of thing, which would have been OK if the sausage didn't taste like mystery meat with freezer burn) * no wine or cookies set out for tasting on day 2 We've stayed there before (as well as at a sister property), and it was significantly worse this time around. It seems there's been some consolidation of ownership of most of the Healdsburg B&Bs, so they have no competition. It shows. It's not a good value. I'd rather spend a little more and stay in a regular hotel, or drive a few miles and stay at the Holiday Inn in Windsor. read more

5-stars for Lucy and her crew for doing a phenomenal job during C19 to keep staff and guests safe, for providing 5-star information, for being kind, and for totally-top-notch customer service. This charming B&B boasts beautiful rooms, a pool, access to Russian River and Lake Sonoma, and is just a block from downtown Healdsburg. We booked a room here for the weekend and were excited to get out of town. We got a number of detailed, well-organized, clearly thought-out emails about safety precautions the Inn is taking, including (from the email!): We have masks, sanitizer and wipes available to you in your room as well as throughout the common areas. We ask that you wear your masks as you move about the common areas, in downtown and shops as prescribed by the Sonoma County Health Orders. Check in: We are available to greet you at a distance with our masks on. We will leave you an envelope on our dining room table with your sanitized key and sanitized directions to your room. Your room: We are cleaning and sanitizing everything in your room prior to your arrival and after your departure. We are following the State of California guidelines and using an EPA approved electrostatic cleaner on fabrics, surfaces and the air in the rooms. We provide masks, sanitizer and wipes for you to use during your stay. Breakfast: We will be offering our usual assortment of choices including fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee, and granola. In addition we will have a main dish and then an appropriate side. Instead of helping yourselves we will be serving you in mask and gloves at individual tables in the parlor and dining room. You may also request a tray to take to your room or take to an outdoor table. As you can see, they are going above and beyond to ensure safe, sanitary conditions for guests. Unfortunately we had to cancel at the last minute, and lucky for us Lucy was *beyond* accommodating - she didn't charge us even though she could have (and probably should have). The Inn is being super-flexible during this trying time, and that is a huge plus for anyone attempting to travel during C19. The pink building surrounded by roses and a short wall looked like an illustration from Alice in Wonderland! As a bed and breakfast, we LOVED everything this place had to offer. The decor was so vintage. It felt like I was in the 1800s. I loved seeing the mouldings and sleeping in the classic canopy bed. For fun, I learned from Google that the canopy beds were popular because it prevented any droppings falling from the ceiling. It also added privacy from servants. With that said, the room was for the "wealthy" at that time. The shower water does fluctuate between hot and cold, something I forgot about from old buildings. There IS AC so that was lovely during our hot weekend. Our breakfast for a Monday morning was egg, yogurt, muffin, and salad. I kinda wished we were there the day before because they got poppyseed pancakes. I didn't ask for seconds, although I could have easily eaten another plate. Regardless of our breakfast sounding pretty standard, we thought it was delicious! It made our morning. The benefit of staying at this inn is the location. It was a 7 minute walk towards the end-ish of Healdsburg Ave. We got to all of the places we wanted to in a very short walk, which was great! We didn't have to drive around and look for parking. Since we brought our dog, we were thankful and grateful everything was located so close by and mostly pet-friendly! We had many walks going to the coffee shop, restaurant for dinner, and cute apparel stores. The service was spectacular! The reservation manager was super helpful and understanding. I never had better service than from him. The innkeeper Tracy was also so friendly and brought a kind smile to our day. She checked in on us and we had great conversations with her. Everything was brought out promptly. The one issue we had was the location of our room in relation to the main building. We stayed in the Royalty room. The room faces the main entrance to the main building. We could hear conversations from people who were staying there because they had to pass our room so when they came back at midnight, we woke up to the sound of their voices. Then at 3:30-4AM, the people who worked at this inn used the front door quite a lot. The door slammed so my husband, dog, and I woke up from the door slams. When we come back, we will come for a different room. It may be because we had a dog so there weren't many options for us in terms of room. I was looking for a stay that had character, ultimate comfort, and charm for a cozy weekend traveling around Sonoma. The Camellia Inn is ALL that and more. Lucy, Archie, and the staff will take care of you and provide you the best bed & breakfast experience for your wine country stay. From the moment you step in, you can automatically tell they genuinely love to have you. They provided a safe, socially distanced check-in and surprised my boyfriend and I with a room upgrade, glass of wine, charcuterie/cheese snack tray, and some lovely mini lemon cupcakes and fruit that we couldn't resist. They truly have thought of everything -- we even had access to a guest refrigerator to put in all of our restaurant leftovers and cheese trail purchases throughout our stay! Checking in to our upgraded "Royalty" Room, I immediately felt that I was staying at a charming historical house. Kind of like a museum where everything is beautifully and charmingly antique, but kept pristine. Much like the main parlor, the furniture is comfy, oozes of historical charm and character. Don't even get me started on the absolute gorgeous ceiling medallions! The rooms and bathrooms are sparking clean with the linens being freshly laundered for you before you arrive. Also, the shower was incredibly hot (just how we like it) and there were fresh robes for us to use. In addition to the beautiful grounds and our room amenities, I also must rave about the food! My boyfriend and I easily woke up in our beautiful room because we knew that Lucy's breakfast was just a few short steps away. Lucy and the team have socially distanced the tables, adorned with gorgeous placemats and fresh flowers at each one. There was fresh fruit, yogurt, tasty granola, and we got to choose between 3 different types of juices. We also had a hot coffee/tea tray put out for us every morning-- an adorable touch. The main dishes were excellent too! My personal favorite was her lemon scrambled eggs (the lemons came from her father's backyard...yum!) and fresh baked scones. My boyfriend couldn't stop taking pictures of it all! Next time we're in Sonoma, you can bet that we'll be going back to the Camellia Inn. I'm really not sure how folks are leaving five star review of this place. Maybe it's just the Tower West room. Not much else to say except the room was a complete disappointment. It's an older building and it shows its age. Absolutely nothing has been maintained. Plaster was peeling in our room (Tower West) and the bathroom walls in the tub/shower area had mold and mildew. The grounds are completely unmaintained and a shambles. Pool was closed and no notice was given before arrival. On a bright note, the breakfast was good and the AC worked. There's no way I would ever stay here again. read more

The Camellia Inn was 10/10 AMAZING. This place, along with the town, is such a hidden gem of Sonoma County. Firstly, the service here was fantastic. Special shout-out to Haley, the concierge, for some superb recommendations for places to eat, and all were within 5-10 minutes walking distance which was perfect. Next, the chef was absolutely fantastic, making some of the best breakfasts we have ever had in our lifetime along with some life-changing double chocolate cookies. There was also yummy welcome wine from one of the wineries that the owners of the inn also own which was another added bonus! Lastly, the room itself was amazing as well as incredibly clean, with the bed being super comfortable - it was like sleeping on a cloud! All in all, we highly enjoyed our stay at the Camellia Inn and will continue to rave about it to anybody who will listen. read more

Sometimes I prefer to stay in a place like this instead of a hotel. The vibe is more personal and intimate, there is usually less noise from the lack of rooms, and the host (or hostess) are usually very friendly. The Camellia Inn had all these qualities, and the house itself is very cute. We stayed here for one night, and it was lovely. The bed was big and comfortable, the room was a good size with multiple chairs and nice big windows, and it was fairly quiet except for the occasional patter of footsteps in the hall. Two negatives: Even though the bed was very comfortable, it was hard to get into because it's high off the ground. Even with a stool, it's somewhat of a challenge. The shower was very temperamental. It would be scalding hot one second, and blistering cold the next. There was no neutral, warm water. Get past those two negatives and this place is actually a very great stay. read more

Review is for Climbing Rose Studio in Geyserville. My husband and I stayed at the Climbing Rose Studio for one night on one of our road trips with our dog. Since we were staying just for the night, we didn't really get to explore Geyserville too much, but thought it was a nice pit stop on our trip. The studio has it's own little patio surrounding it and a parking space right in front. The whirlpool tub is in the main part of the studio (not in the bathroom). It looked awesome, but we didn't get to use it. The bathroom is fairly small and the shower was as well, but the shower was nice once I figured out how to use it. There's also a kitchenette, but since this isn't part of the main property, breakfast is not included. Housekeeping is also on your own. Although you're pretty much on your own here, there was a plethora of wine tasting passes in the room for surrounding wineries. If you're looking for dog friendly accommodations with no fuss and quiet surroundings, the Climbing Rose Studio is a great option. read more
