It definitely feels sad to re-review the Camellia Inn with only a 3-star review. I have been several times in the past, but not for six years. The Inn is no longer privately owned, and is now owned by the Wilson Winery group. I used to stay there when the owners were Lucy Leward and her father. They were super interested in their guests, and would have conversations with us and the other guests each evening. They brought the guests together by having a nightly cheese and wine hour, with lots of games in the parlor room. They would also decorate the inn so it looked beautiful for the various holidays. My husband and I stayed for three nights in November under the new ownership when attending a wine event in the area. There were two inn keepers there during the time we were there. They were polite, but that was about the extent of it. We pretty much spoke at check-in and check-out. We did get a welcome glass of wine upon arrival. They do also offer cookies in the lobby in the late afternoon, that I didn't try. The other nice thing is that breakfasts are made for each guest as we arrive to the dining room so that it is nice and hot. I will say that the breakfast is OK, but a little greasy. I do like that they offer a fruit and yogurt parfait along with the breakfast. The other thing that I did not like was the state of repair of some of the rooms. , The jacuzzi tub in our room was really old looking. There were some parts of the tub that had chipped off. There was also a gas fireplace in the room. We couldn't get it to work, and when I asked, I learned that it was not functional. In past years, I had really appreciated the relaxing jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces in the rooms. It was really part of the charm of the Inn. I know that they are trying to do some renovations, but, at the moment, it seems like they are behind. Though I am disappointed about the change in ownership and the less personal feel, I will say that it is still a lovely old home in a peaceful neighborhood, just blocks from the restaurants and wine tasting rooms. It is still a nice place to stay, but could definitely use some improvements.

    Dirty Pool!

The internet and the reality were very different. The pool was dirty and full of algae. The pool furniture was filthy and the rest of the outdoor areas was not kept up.

Inn: very cute place, well kept, clean, vintage feel We stayed in the East Tower room - a fairly large room with a king bed and a hot tub (didn't get to use it). It faced the back where the parking lot and pool were. It was a cold weekend but our room was toasty warm with the gas fireplace already on (much appreciated). The bathroom had an awkward shower head above the hot tub and there were no curtains which made it a bit chilly to shower since the bathroom was kinda cold. It was fairly quiet considering there were many other guests and no TVs (a plus). The outside pathways need lights at night, it was a bit of a struggle when we walked back after dinner. Service: After we booked with them, the innkeepers called us asking if we needed help with making reservations for meals and wine tasting and gave us their recommendations based on walking distance (our preference). They had two dinners and a wine tasting booked before our trip. On the day of our check-in, the innkeepers contacted us asking about any dietary preferences (we were stoked they asked as we are lactose intolerant). Gwen was welcoming and helpful at check-in; she helped book our lunch reservation then and there when we asked for a good place to eat. The morning staff were friendly and made us hot breakfasts (see photos). We were pleasantly surprised and appreciative that they had set our baked potatoes aside because they made it without cheese. They also had almond milk for coffee/tea. Location: The inn was easy to find. Near everything in Downtown Healdsburg; we didn't drive our car for the 2.5 days we were there. Cute town with many little stores, restaurants, and of course wine tasting rooms. Note: Many places are closed either Mon, Tue, or Wed (unfortunately the days we were there). Stores tend to open around 10ish and close by 5p and restaurants around 9p-10ish. We ate at Bravas, Willi's, and the Wurst....all great! Had a tasty treat at Noble Folk ice cream and Pie Bar. Also had a great time at the Rockpile Wine tasting room (rainbow chairs at the round about).

This Inn is walking distance to downtown which is what drew us to this location. Ve was our host and she was very nice and gave us a short tour around the place. I was confused because we were told we could use the heated pool and then, when we went to go use it, there were multiple signs saying it's closed. The walls are thin, you can hear everything occurring in the hallway. Our room needed love. There was lots of dust build up, the television was extremely small, and the bed frame was very flimsy. The mattress was also quite hard and it was difficult to sleep throughout the night. I was looking forward to the speakeasy but it was closed throughout our stay. I'm not sure if it's closed for good or just wasn't open when I was there. There was no information given about it. We went out and came back to the Inn around 8 pm, there was an empty bottle of wine and dirty glasses sitting around the entrance area. I'm not sure if that was due to available tastings at the Inn or if someone just left it out because we were not informed of tasting offerings at the Inn. Breakfast was served between 8-10 and it was soggy French toast, warm yogurt and room temperature orange juice. All in all, I would not stay here again and I would choose to stay farther away at a nicer place.

From the very beginning of the meal, there was a clear sense of precision, elegance, and intention. The opening presentation was stunning, filled with an assortment of beautifully composed small bites featuring oyster, mushroom, sea bream, and a variety of other seasonal ingredients. Each bite felt delicate yet purposeful, showcasing both technical refinement and remarkable balance. One of the most memorable dishes of the evening was the bluefin tuna moriawase paired with strawberries. Normally, fruit in savory dishes tends to feel distracting or overly sweet to me, but the execution here was exceptional. The chefs managed to create a harmony between sweetness, tartness, acidity, and umami that elevated the tuna rather than overshadowing it. It was a dish that felt thoughtful, restrained, and incredibly well composed. The consistency throughout the progression of the menu was equally impressive. Course after course arrived with meticulous presentation and a strong sense of identity. Every dish felt polished and intentional, balancing visual artistry with flavors that were equally compelling. There was never a moment where the meal lost momentum, and the pacing allowed each course to feel distinct while still contributing to a cohesive experience. That said, there was one course that completely missed the mark for our group. The milk and honey dessert, which resembled a sponge cake topped with a whipped goat cheese foam, was overwhelmingly pungent and difficult to approach as a dessert course. The intensity of the goat cheese dominated every other component, to the point where it felt less like a composed dessert and more like being punched by a goat farm. Looking around the dining room, it seemed we were not alone in our reaction. Interestingly, when we mentioned that this was the only dish we did not enjoy, we were told, "if at least 1 out of 10 guests enjoy it, we consider it a win." It was certainly an unexpected response, especially given how polished and thoughtful the rest of the experience had been. Even with that misstep, the overall meal was exceptional. SingleThread succeeds in delivering a dining experience that feels elegant, immersive, and deeply personal. Between the artistry of the presentations, the balance of flavors, and the technical execution across the menu, it remains one of the most impressive three Michelin star experiences in California.

While we aren't traditional "B&B" types with flowerly and overly feminine designs, we opened our minds up after reading all about the amazing experiences people have had at the Honor Mansion. Upon arrival at the Mansion we were greeted by Lupita, who is the manager of the property. She was extremely professional, extremely welcoming, and made our experience so special. The main Mansion is really lovely and had touches of traditional B&Bs (a parlor, a breakfast room, DVDs to borrow and a fireplace for chatting, rooms upstairs) with a modern, contemporary Victorian style. We stayed in Vineyard Suite #1, which is located in an annex near the main Mansion. The suite was exceptional. From the bedding (I think it was the most comfortable bed I have slept in and I travel for a living) to the bath tubs (TWO, count them TWO tubs - one a soaking tub inside and the other outside is a jacuzzi). A fireplace, big TV (we didn't even use!), wet bar (brandy anyone?), a beautiful huge shower that is big enough for a small family to live in, and a lovely, private back patio (again, jacuzzi tub). They anticipate every amenity and need you may have - and they do a great job at it. Wine was waiting for us in our room, but we instead enjoyed a glass of Dutcher Crossing offered at our welcome with Lupita. They also have appetizers in the evening in the Mansion. We walked downtown to Healdsburg for dinner at Valette, and took a cab back. Tea was delivered to our door in the morning with delicious homemade biscotti. After a relaxing wake up, we wandered to the Mansion for an exceptional breakfast. They have different specials each day - this day it was a Southwestern style omelette with cheddar biscuits (with a hint of jalapeno!). We also nibbled on fresh fruit and pastries. They can bring breakfast to your suite, but we loved the cozy breakfast nook and chatting with the friendly staff. Oh, and I forgot - MIMOSAS! They have the longest list I have ever seen of mimosas! We tried the mimosa of the month - pomegranate. It was high quality sparkling and the flavor was so great. You get two complimentary per guest, so enjoy. We walked the grounds and wished we had more time for bocce and warmer weather for the pool - pool side massage? Yes, please! We loved it so much we bought a gift certificate for my parents.
