Tried the orange vanilla morning bun and it was amazing! Perfectly sweet with delicate citrus notes in the buttery layers of goodness. Great accompaniment to a morning cup of coffee. Their sourdough baguette was also the perfect pairing to some homemade shakshuka. Vs others in the Sac area, I'd say Camina bakery is better than Moonbelly bakery which is better than Faria Bakery. Would definitely stop by their booth again at the midtown farmers market or the next time I'm in Chico. read more

Hands down Camina Bakery has the best sourdough bread! I look forward to Saturday Midtown Farmer's Market to pick up a loaf of Walnut Sourdough Bread. They are great for sandwiches, avocado toast or with a bowl of soup. They also have a nice selection of pastries. My fav is Chocolate Chip Cookies with Pecan. It's delicious! I've also had their Scones and Orange Vanilla Morning Bun. They are mouth watering. All eaten before I can take a picture. Get to the Farmer's Market early! They sell out pretty quickly and always a line. That says a lot about their quality. read more

Chanced upon their unlabeled booth at the Sacramento Midtown Farmer's Market this Saturday morning. Saw a line of customers and was curious about this bakery. Sourdough loaves of bread were on display as well as breakfast pastries. Bought the Morning Bun, Chocolate Croissant, and Raisin Snail without any expectations. The Morning Bun was beyond delicious. Buttery with just the right amount of sweetness for that breakfast kick Haven't tasted the other two baked goodies yet, but we're pretty sure they're also good. read more

First time trying this bakery was through deja vu brunch. Found out that Camina bakery provides all of the baguettes for the French toast at deja vu. Planning on trying more stuff, I've just been too lazy to get myself to Farmers market early enough. There aren't enough bakeries in the world that have the same kind of passion as this place. Using refined yeast has become standard practice for most bakers. Camina bakery does everything the old school way by using sourdough starter to naturally levain all of their baked goods. It tastes better, it's healthier, and it's a lot more work. Mark my words, once this place gets a brick and mortar it'll be #1 in Chico. read more

3 years ago I was having dinner at Red Tavern Bistro, where they served the most incredible sourdough bread (Camina). Ever since I try and make it to the Saturday Farmer's Market for bread or even their delicious pastries. It's convenient that S&S Produce and New Earth Market carry Camina, as well. read more

From January thru April my wife and I sell oranges at the Saturday Chico Farmers Market (yay Dobis Beach Oranges), and back up next to Camina Bakery's booth. Let me tell you their croissants and/or their Morning bun (which is a complete wonder of sticky yumminess), and a cup of hot coffee from one of our Market vendors, have sure made our cold early morning winter market hours more comfortable. Wife and I just had a Camina baguette with stuffed shells for lunch-exactly how a great sourdough bread should taste-terrific. Everything I've had from Camina has been terrific. Read the few but wonderful reviews about Camina Bakery, enough to get the juices flowing, sort of speak. Being a defínete not an early bird, specially if a waiting line is involved, I asked beautiful Marjorie, who finds no trouble enjoying the early activities, if she would be kind enough to pick the much revered Sourdough with Walnuts bread to the tune of $8 a pop?, and since we already were on it, a couple of the also praised pastries. I have a gullible side that manifests itself when I hear deliciousness is in my immediate area. I loose control easily of my wallet and must admit not always I find the level of greatness assigned to the foods I read about. Marjorie informed me she was able to get the last sourdough with walnuts, and a single croissant with very minimum chocolate for $6? Neither one were great, but certainly were not bad. Which prove the point that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, specially where food is concerned. About taste and colors no author has written. Sourdough was dense, thick crust, a good knife required to slice. I had sourdough bread over the years, some better than others, and this one with the walnuts is a notch above average, certainly edible but a ways from memorable. The croissant flaky flaky, just shedding away on the outside while the inside remained moist enough, but again not a great offering. Happy to try it, but bread is bread is bread, and perhaps with avocados, superior ham, cheese, etc., the enjoyment will be more noticeable. Expensive, yes. Fantastically delicious, no. News Flash!: Next day the Sourdough Bread hit the spot like there is no tomorrow, which basically made my initial notes on it somewhat obsolete, as it is very tasty. I decided to put a thick layer of cream cheese (Philadelphia) and throw several small green olives enough to cover it nicely on a thick slice, which when combined with the aforementioned bread it simply was delicious. A lovely lady who initially said it was not a great buy, did a complete reversal of opinion, and together we finished the olives in a blur of enthusiasm. A couple of slices later we thanked Camina Bakery for the walnut sourdough mostly, the pastry a long distant second. I'm glad for the purchase and it goes to show that perhaps I should have waited a little longer before I knocked it down, but glad I corrected my premature assessment. 4 Stars. read more
