I have stayed at this hotel probably 10 separate times, with the longest stay at 15 days, I have a good grip on this place and have become well acquainted with many of the staff. Especially the bar and restaurant staff :-) The hotel I would consider for the area, a 4.5 star hotel. This isnt Vera Cruz or Cozumel, so the selection of high end hotels reflects that. But this place is really great. First off, for us gringos, almost all of the staff speaks english. Not super fluent but well enough to get you what you need. There is wifi with a check in. The food, ohh the food is swinging. The outdoor area is great. A nice pool and courtyard area. Perfect for a date or a talk. I am always alone when travelling so I can only imagine those things. The rooms are all well appointed. I have been in probably almost every version of rooms this hotel has. From the no frills double queen to the full blown conquistador dictator el presidente big baller Schieb room. Bam! The hotel is located about a 10 minute cab ride from the hotel. They also have an airport shuttle bus. There is some security present and all the accesses into the hotel areas are accessed by key cards. There is a few older looking rooms that resemble a motel like design. Im not sure how old this place is. There is a huge ball room and several private conference rooms available. I have witnessed some big weddings and celebrations here over the years, and in my opinion if the locals chose this place for the big fancy parties, then you know its a desirable location. If you have to come to Tampico for offshore work and don't have a favorite hotel, I highly recommend this hotel. Yes, there is Holiday Inns, Hampton Inns and other familiar American places in Tampico, but this one has that Mexican flair to it if you are of the adventurous type. If not, the other hotels I mention also have McDonalds, Pizza Hut and Wal Marts close by if this is too much out of your comfort zone. read more

Because of company policy, I was forced to stay at this hotel for several weeks on two separate occasions. During both stays, the rooms were never vacuumed and the carpet was dirty and frayed, the restaurant took 30+ minutes to bring the food AFTER the order had been taken, the rooms smelled musty all the time, but most importantly, the water in the rooms always had a smell of diesel, with most days coming out of the faucet dirty. One morning it actually came out dark brown and left mud in the bottom of the sink. In both rooms I stayed in, maintenance had to be called to fix the air conditioner. All areas of the hotel outside the reception area are in need of repairs and updating. Over all, I've stayed in Tampico for about 6 months on a project, and found that the area where this hotel is is not to be considered safe no matter what you've been told. read more
