I had a mixed experience with CL. First the bad: We toured the venue just before covid hit the US. our sales person, Jennifer Gaines, gave a wonderful tour and promised us a quick lunch at Tillie's after before we left for another venue tour. She said she could fit us in and we could be super quick. Well, after waiting about 30 minutes at the restaurant, they let us know that their brunch was a 2-hour experience and could not be shortened. It seemed Jennifer didn't have much clue what was true. Additionally, she said there were tons of places to stay in the area but could give us none. We should've spotted these red flags. Throughout the rest of our planning process, Jennifer was unresponsive and hard to reach. About halfway through, we had to change our plans due to the pandemic and ended up moving our wedding up and making it tiny, for the safety of everyone. My planner had called her four times and left voicemails, and finally my father got her on the phone and got our new plans confirmed. After that, things seemed a bit cold on their end, as if they were upset we changed our plans (due to a global pandemic) and they were now making less money off us. For starters, they tried keeping us tied to a contract to pay a HUGE minimum, even though we'd have about 160 people less and would be at a smaller venue, half the price of the original. Once my planner got a hold of them and negotiated, they finally gave us a more reasonable price. This treatment was frustrating given the fact we had to give up our dream wedding plans. Jennifer also seemed very snakey, as if all she cared about was the sale and she was willing to say anything to make one. Now the good: Aside from her unprofessionalism and poor communication, our account manager Alex Puryear was great. She was super helpful all around and helped make our day come to life. The wedding itself turned out beautiful. I have no complaints about our day. The service was great and the food was delicious. The venue was gorgeous, thanks to some help from Whim. We had also stayed on the property the two days leading up to our big day, and it was very nice. The cottages were beautiful, comfortable, and perfect for a wedding party. We got to feed and pet donkeys and llamas. And Tillies was delicious and beautiful for our rehearsal. It was a wonderful stay and our wedding was great. I'd definitely come back! read more

I cannot say enough positive things about this resort. From check in to check out, it was wonderful. The staff is beyond friendly, the property exquisite and the rooms are some of the best I have stayed in. We booked the vista king and it did not disappoint. Amazing view and beautiful furnishings. The pool was refreshing and played wonderful relaxing music. Bartender was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed and even offered a signature drink he was working on. We had dinner, lunch and pastries from Tillie's. Excellent! I almost felt like we were the only ones at the resort even though it was full. If I could give 10 stars I would. read more

I love this concept and this place. Like kids camp layout of rooms, but really nicely done. It's quiet, beautiful and what you'd expect out of the hill country. However, I'm disappointed in the $20 breakfast buffet. The last thing I'd ever expect out of this venue is fake or boxed eggs. I highly recommend a quick getaway with your significant other and then drive 15 minutes into town for a nice breakfast. I'd give it 4 stars if it was an omelet station or something. Grounds are nice - the rooms are meh... they don't take care of their faucets. Lots of build up I'm sure. They spray all over the place, you'll have to turn it on slowly and low. Went to a wedding here and stayed in the cabins. The rooms are SO NICE. Like rustic cabins and the bathrooms were stunning. Clay rubs and sinks and a big open shower. The grounds were great the ceremony and reception places were both clean and well kept up. The bridal suite we got ready in was a little small but overall cute set up with lots of mirrors and places to get ready. Would totally recommend for a wedding. They have multiple places on the venue to have the ceremony or reception. Staff was very nice and helpful for the wedding. We had mimosas brought to us in the bridal suite. read more

I've been to Camp Lucy twice now for an off-site work retreat. We work out of the Whit's Inn for the day and it's just such a lovely space. Much bigger than we need, I still enjoy the conference set up they provide with access to a projector and screen. The staff are so kind and helpful and the food is fantastic. This time we were able to enjoy the outdoor space including the back deck for lunch and the fields across the way to pet some Alpacas and donkeys. Just that alone should be reason to come here over a dark hotel conference room. I was also able to enjoy their bridal suite to get some work done. Super cozy and a great addition to the space. read more

Camp Lucy is like the Disneyland of wedding venues; every little detail has been painstakingly designed and thoughtfully constructed to yield a seamless and magical experience. As wedding photographers, there are few venues we LOVE to photograph as much as Camp Lucy. Photo opportunities abound and there's no shortage of beautiful locations on the grounds, either with Sacred Oaks or Ian's Chapel. The bridal suites at both Sacred Oaks and Ian's Chapel (the cottage) are spacious with lots of bright wonderful light. (Great for makeup and hair, as well as photos.) The ceremony cite options are perfect, and you simply can't go wrong, whether you want the shade of the Sacred Oaks amphitheater, the old world beautify of Ian's Chapel or the beautiful hill country view offered by the overlook nearby, anything you choose is going to be great. The reception halls are simple, large, and unadorned. As photographers, we love the leading lines and symmetry that can make excellent backgrounds for couples' first dances. As beautiful as the buildings are, the grounds surrounding the venues are also gorgeous. When the wildflowers are blooming in particular, there are many great colorful opportunities. Even without wildflowers, the sunset and light filtering through the large trees can create magical images. I think we could shoot at Camp Lucy every weekend for a year and not run out of new ideas and locations to shoot. As far as photography goes, if you choose Camp Lucy and invest in professional photography to capture its splendor, you cannot go wrong. Highly recommended. read more

Camp Lucy is such a unique gem. The boyfriend and I booked one night to celebrate his birthday and ended up staying two nights because we love it so much here. There's a happy birthday card and a bottle of complimentary champagne waiting for us in the room. Wow, did not expect that. We had a "tree top" room and it was very nice and new. It's a space where none of the details were missed and all the fixtures were high quality. It's also very calming to sit at the patio and stare out into trees and wild grass. I was going into the trip stressed from work and brought my work laptop "just in case". Well, I never open my laptop because the property instantly transformed me into calm and I had unknowingly detached from work. Perhaps it's middle of the week and school had started. We nearly had the pool to ourselves. Yes, there's drink and food service at the swim up pool. We also did their hiking trails and visited the beautiful on-site vineyard. Wish they have wine tasting at the vineyard. This is a relaxation place, not a party place (thank god), they have quiet hours starting at 10pm. We also spent time at the nearby Dripping Springs town for coffee and shopping and did a couple wine tastings in the surrounding area. Perfect quick get-away that's only 40mins from Austin. So close and yet a world away. Thank you. read more

Camp Lucy is off the beaten path In a gorgeous part of Texas Hill Country, but it's only a couple of miles off the main 290 thoroughfare. Despite what some other reviewers experienced, we didn't have any trouble locating Lucy with the handy directions from their website and the reservation email. The cottages are spacious, comfortable, and beautifully designed to capture that "luxe rustic" look. Customer service was warm, welcoming, and stellar. The continental breakfast had a tasty selection of fruit, pastries, bagels, yogurt, and make-your-own Belgian waffles, along with juices and Keurig coffee for you fellow caffeine fiends ("caffiends"?). The surrounding grounds are serene and beautiful, and no doubt it's a glorious wedding/event location. Travelers who are dropping in for a visit should keep in mind that there may be plenty of high-spirited wedding revelers in the other cottages, so you may be in for more noise than you might expect from other boutique hotels that don't host similar events. I had to remove 1 star for the thin walls (or noisier neighbors) , the slow Wifi, and the lack of HBO. (Hey, some of us lame-os have to rely on hotels for our Boardwalk Empire / Game of Thrones fix.) also, the shower window doesn't have a curtain. For shorter people, that may not be an issue, but we tall folks don't necessarily want cottage neighbors looking off their porches or out their windows and suddenly spotting our wibbly wobbly bits. read more

My cousin recently got hitched at Camp Lucy and I praise the owners for everything they have done at this property. From the beautiful, vintage chapel with awesome bell tower, to the outdoor plaza with breathtaking hill country views, to the reception hall with a magnificent fire place and awesome, grand hall chandelier-like lighting. The cute cottage where the bride got dressed up was, well, CUTE! The landscaping was great! They even allowed sparklers on the send-off, which I know other nearby venues do not. read more

A short pleasant drive from Austin Texas. There are various cabin-cottage rooms and event area on grounds. Plenty of parking and maps for directions around the area. The rooms are large and inviting. A kitchenette, large bedroom area and large oversized bathroom with shower and bathtub. Room was set at a good comfortable temperature with season weather in mind. Beds were comfortable and fell right asleep when it was the end of our day. Everything was well kept. The event center has a nice outdoor area for the wedding we attended. Plenty of picture opportunities outside and inside the building. The decor fits Texas country side well. Overall impressed by the conditions of the grounds, rooms, and event facilities. Would love to try out the restaurant and other amenities the next time through. read more

For our first venture out of the house since COVID started, this was pretty disappointing. We have stayed here many times over the past two years, and each time the experience has become more and more disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the rooms, property, and decor are beautiful (hence the 3 stars). Nightly cost is pretty expensive, and it used to include all of the activities (alpaca feeding, archery, axe throwing, etc). Now there is a $20/person charge for each guided activity. We decided to forgo paying $40 total to feed alpacas, and instead take a hike around the vineyard, but as we arrived up there to the vineyard entrance, the gate was closed. So we went to the pool, where the male bartender was barely wearing his mask (the woman was great and kept it on for the entire afternoon). He only put it all the way on when someone new would walk up. They did not have most of the food listed on the Tillie's menu when we tried to order for room service, not to mention trying to get anyone on the phone took 20-30 minutes in itself. The bed in the vista room had massive indents from over use, and my husband and I kept rolling towards each other into the middle divot. When I talked to the front desk about the concerns, I just got an "I'm so sorry about that". Just such a bummer, as this used to be one of our favorite staycation properties. read more

There are so many miles to hike and explore, an amazing pool, and Tillie's which is a 5 star restaurant with a changing menu. It's family and pet friendly too. read more

This layout of the camp is astounding and so beautiful. It's my first day in dripping springs and this is the first stop for a wedding. We witnessed the union under a canopy of trees that you would only imagine in a Disney story book or movie. The greenery blocked all the sun but allowed romantic lighting as it has just rained a bit. It was perfect. It was off the beaten path and surrounded by a creek and allowed the birds to chirp melodically as the wedding was going on. It was truly a magical moment to witness. read more

This review is from September, 2021. I believe I had posted it, but apparently I didn't.** SO DISSAPOINTING! If I could give negative stars, I would! My husband and I fell in love with the venue when we went to visit, and knew we wanted to get married here. We scheduled for an availability they had open in 3 months. After around week 2 (after we signed our contract), our emails, calls, and any form of contact were repeatedly ignored. Our Account manager Alex (be prepared to pay a hefty "Administrative fee" on EVERYTHING, we ended up spending over a grand on this alone!) was always "out of the office" or "away from the phone", so we had a huge delay on getting the ball rolling, and it never got any better. When we finally contacted her manager Jennifer a few weeks before the wedding, she seemed like she would take care of things, but then dismissed our case without ever really looking into it, and assigned Alex back to us. If the lack of communication and professionalism was the worst of it, I would have had a much better review to give. The costs were outrageous for what we were getting. We ended up paying for a lot of extras and additional staffing fees for a wedding of an expected 50 people. We are a young couple and wanted to try and stick to a budget, but Camp Lucy made that extremely hard! For those looking to have a wedding on a budget, this is NOT the place for you!! We spent more than $14,000 out of our $23,000 budget at this Venue alone. Despite a lot of extra crap we had to deal with from Camp Lucy, we were hoping to put that behind us and look forward to our big day, but when the day of our wedding arrived, it was so disappointing, I wanted to cry. When we first got there, the wedding from the day before had not been cleaned up, the groom and bridal suite were both trashed and had not been sanitized, and there was a bunch of left over furniture from the night before. Later I found out that Alex, although she was there when we arrived, up and disappeared for the majority of the morning, leaving my husband to try and get the staff to move the furniture, clean up, and do their jobs. The majority wouldn't listen to him since Alex wasn't there. When my mother arrived, she had to track Alex down, and tell her to do her job. From there until the Ceremony, everything was speeding up and things were being dealt with by the groom and the mother of the bride, mainly. After our ceremony, we went to get photos done during cocktail hour. There were also wasps everywhere. I, and a few of my guests, are deathly allergic, and we were never notified! They ended up swarming the guests during cocktail hour. We ended up having only 30ish people show up sadly, but even with that many people, EVERYONE GOT FOOD POISINING. I found out later that the food was put out on the buffet table around noon, and the reception wasn't until 6pm! Due to this, we spent the whole night on the toilet. After the Wedding, when we contacted the venue, we spoke with the sales manager who assured us we would be reimbursed. We weren't expecting anything big, but given that the catering gave everyone food poising, we had hoped for a slight reimbursement on that. I tried calling more than 10 times since our wedding, and was finally told "We don't give refunds", despite what we were told by the sales manager. Overall it was so chaotic and unnecessarily stressful, it absolutely ruined our big day. I would never recommend Camp Lucy to anyone who is looking for decent customer service on a budget. If you do go with them, find a great day of coordinator in advance. read more

Fresh home from our little vacation getaway at Camp Lucy. Only 23 miles from my house and felt like a real getaway. We went during the week figuring weekends would be more busy. Not sure how the weekends are and if there are weddings during the pandemic. We stayed 2 nights in our fancy little cabin. Our room was equipped with mini fridge and microwave so we had the perfect place for our snacks. We got up at 4 am to lay on the great lawn and watch the meteor shower. The grounds and architecture are breathtaking! We fed the donkeys and alpacas, twice. Laid at the pool all day every day. The food from Tillie's served at the pool was all yummy! If you're looking for a safe and beautiful getaway this is the place! It's very clean and The staff wears mask all the time. There is also a nightly fire and the benches are spaced a good distance apart. We were blessed with the perfect weather even on a July night so we could enjoy the s'mores Kit we got in the office. Food and drinks at the pool are reasonably priced too. I assume Matt is the GM and he was everywhere from the pool to Tillie's and was really attentive and informative. I hope someday when life is back to normal I get invited to a wedding here. read more

I wanted to surprise my fiancé for our anniversary. I was able to plan a get away and staycation at camp Lucy with the help of Francheska. This place is amazing everyone was so attentive and helpful. Merianne got us checked in. Jacob & Francheska were so awesome. They took turns giving us property tours showing us around. There's so much history in the architecture of this place it's ridiculously beautiful. Jacob took us axe throwing, and who knew my fiancé and I would be half way decent at shooting bow & arrows?! We made dinner reservations at Tillies. The maitre'd/manager Borskin was kind enough to check on us and make sure we were having a good time. We assured him that he had left us in good hands with our server Jamie. Everything about this place is outstanding. We were sad to leave, but now that we've found this hidden gem, we will surely be back. 10/10 without hesitation. read more

So my wife and I decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary and stroll down memory lane from when we got married at Camp Lucy in 2015 by going back as a quick getaway. It's a wonderful property, but unfortunately, the experience was significantly diminished with a few details: ROOM - We stayed in one of the original cottages and the room is as nice as it was 7 years ago. Very spacious with amenities you'd expect in a 5-star hotel. BUT, the air conditioner could not keep up at all! Even over night when the outside temperature dipped to the low 80s, the temperature in the room was very uncomfortable (probably didn't get below 79-80) and neither of us got a good night's sleep at all. POOL - Nice pool with a swim up bar. Very hard working yet novice (slow) bar tender who appeared overwhelmed with also having to replenish towels and pick up around all the lounge areas. They also sell day passes Sun-Thu, which makes for an overcrowded pool with kids doing cannon balls all afternoon. The pool area is relatively small and really only big enough to accommodate guests. We had to sit at the bar because all the loungers were taken. RESTAURANT - Amazing dinner which could hold its own against the best restaurants in any major city. We were excited to see how great breakfast would be, BUT it was horrible (no exaggeration). Think the free breakfast at a 2-star motel, but paying $20. Mediocre scrambled eggs, pre-cooked microwaved sausage (no bacon), and potatoes, which were not very hot. Pastries were on par with what you find at a grocery store. Unfortunately, we ended our stay with a bad taste (of breakfast) in our mouths. read more

Gorgeous venue!! Rustic luxury. My wedding was in December 2015 at Ian's Chapel, and we stayed in the cottages for the weekend. Everything was flawless. We made welcome baskets for our guests from out of town, and the gentleman who worked at the cottages was kind enough to place the baskets in each room before everyone arrived. S'mores and music at the fire pit was a great way to relax the night before the wedding. Our wedding planner, Kristen White, was amazing. Chef Rob from Whim Catering is also amazing. The breakfast in the morning was perfect, as was the dinner at the wedding! We received so many compliments on the food, the venue, and the entire experience! After our wedding, when my husband and I got back to our room at the cottages, the room was clean and welcoming - there were rose petals everywhere, a plate of cookies, and a bottle of wine waiting for us. I am reviewing as a pool day pass guest. We really loved the venue. It was super beautiful and the pool was perfect. It got a little weird when we ordered drinks outside at the swim up bar. The guy running it did give off and bartender vibe. He was struggling to take more than one drink at a time. The multitasking was very taxing for him. A friend ordered a mix of pina colada and red strawberry sauce. The cup came out to her a 1/3 full. Super bizarre and the size of two shots but rung up as a drink at full price. We told him that didn't seem right and he blamed it on the icemaker. Plus it didn't even taste like it had rum in it. We asked him to make it right and try the ice maker again. He looked confused but did it again and made it correct but charged her for a second. I waited to 15 mins while he took another two orders and found it was easier to just go inside.I kinda chatted with that staff that he was struggling and might need some back up but they said he was just filling in. Seems like a odd staff choice with a super busy pool and a not experienced bartender. We ended up ordering all further drinks inside or on the patio with the inside staff. Food: was pretty good. But very limited menu. We ordered the biscuits, pizza and Caesar salad, and brussels. The second Caesar was un edible and super salty. But the other choices we super. When the waiter delivered the food he broke a plate on my friend. There was glass on her chest. He was super apologetic but was soo shocking. Drinks: Are super fun and inventive. That they nailed inside at the bar. The service needs to be addressed when you are charging a $50 fee to swim. There were cups strung out all over the pool area and food plates from 3- 6pm. There wasn't anyone busing the area and keeping it tidy. Super nice place just needs to iron out some service kinks. read more

My Son was married there & they really have to work on their room organizing in booking. We had to change rooms from a king bed the first evening to a two bed room the second evening (3 people in our party) We were made to check out immediately at 11 the first night & weren't able to have our 2nd room ready to close to 5pm. Since the wedding was at 1:30 at another location we just kinda hung out in out nice cloths with nothing to do. After a long day of wedding etc, we then had to unload everything again into our new room & again we're not permitted a later checkout. It felt like a lot of money to spend not even 24 hrs in for the price you pay per night. read more

As a wedding guest here, it is easy to say that this place is gorgeous and well taken care of. It probably would have been a contender for me when I was getting married if I had seen it. The venue is very well landscaped, has interesting buildings, and the perfect venue for a ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. You'd just have to see it. BUT--- don't let your iPhone find directions for you, they will put you somewhere way past the venue and say that you are there! read more

I've been out to Camp Lucy a handful of times and each time I get there, the approach to the chapel or the Sacred Oaks venue feels like walking up to a castle. Kind of awe inspiring; important and unavoidable. The photos on their website speak volumes, so if you can't visit yourself, just take a look. Those photos are completely accurate. I also want to throw a shout out to: *Chef Rob McMahon for dishing out masterpiece after masterpiece in his kitchen. *Ashley Rousseau's coordinating talents are thorough, fast, and reliable. Locale for my cousin's wedding (Atwood-McGraw Wedding) at the Sacred Oaks area. It was absolutely amazing! It was a beautiful outdoor wedding among a small amphitheater area surrounded by all these live oak trees. The dinner & reception were inside the Sacred Oaks Chapel. Some of the wedding party & family were able to stay at the cabins at Camp Lucy. I rode up there with my immediate family, who left for home immediately after the reception, but we stayed for the previous night at a hotel about 30 minutes away. We put our stuff in the cabin where my grandmother was staying, which is where we mostly hung out & got ready for the wedding from 12-6pm. The rooms were so nice! We also had some lunch at the office/lobby (a sandwich party tray provided by the wedding party), where I bought a jar of pecan honey butter & chile lime "AustiNuts", as well as a complimentary copy of the "Insight Dripping Springs 2015" magazine. (Where they do accept cards as payment!) I took a walk around the chapel grounds & cabins, & was able to see a beautiful view of the river & dam, while meeting up with some other cousins who went fishing during the afternoon. It would've been nice to stay overnight & enjoy the communal fire-pit in the cabin area. The food was amazing! One of the reception refreshments was half of an avocado filled with pico, feta cheese, & spinach dip (for those who enjoy vegetarian-friendly cuisine, & they also had some with bacon bits for the meat-lovers). The buffet was amazing, & they had this awesome mac & cheese dish with some green chile & pepper in it--awesomely hot & spicy! Camp Lucy was such a beautiful place, & the staff was so friendly & helpful. I wish I was staying longer! I'll just have to find an excuse to come back. I even tried to talk some other (already married) family members into using this place for renewing their vows or something. read more

I haven't stayed overnight but we got a day pass for our family. It was poolside lunch with a $50 each charge and it would be applied to the bill. Cannot emphasize enough how not worth that pass is. The pool was full and regardless of reservation, nothing was available or reserved. The menu had like 5 choices of sandwiches and chips. The drinks were terrible. We had to make ourselves spend $200 to make the minimum. The pool is very small. I don't get why they sell day passes. It's just big enough for their guests. They had 1 waitress for everyone. We waited hours for food, refills, and some things we just never got. The waitress was nice but she had no help and wasn't writing anything down. It was a complete waste of $200. The setting is absolutely beautiful; the staff was courteous and very sweet. I loved every minute of it. While this makes a fantastic wedding venue, we used it for a business conference and it went splendidly. They have ample room, comfortable seating, great food, and the setting is perfect. It is a bit hard to find - could use some better signage; but they are new, it will come. read more

It's clear that Camp Lucy is a wedding venue first, and a resort second. We were not here for a wedding, just a get away. And we felt a little abandoned considering the steep price point and clear promise of luxury. There are a lot of wonderful things to love about Camp Lucy - don't get me wrong. But we were a bit bewildered by certain shortcomings of our stay. Overnight guests face an inexplicable shortage of food options on property, given that there is an outstanding restaurant right there on the site. The poolside menu was pre-packaged in cheap plastic and most items had run out by mid-afternoon. It felt a little like ordering last from an airplane menu - the thing you wanted has run out and the thing you got has been sitting in a fridge for hours. (Though what we were able to score was delicious!). Similarly, breakfast is a grab and go situation but there are (literally!) no tables where guests can sit and eat - anywhere. Because this place has been so careful about things like stone bathtubs and truly delightful furnishings, we were surprised that this attention did not extend to things like toilet paper (which was very cheap) and tastefully marked hiking trails (someone has gone through with spray paint and tagged rocks and trees with sloppy arrows to keep you on the path). For these reasons, Camp Lucy felt...unfinished. I hope someone with an eye for detail and careful experience design will get in there and finish up, because the setting and the concept are truly wonderful. read more

This post is long overdue but we thought it was important to review Camp Lucy. My husband and I stayed at Camp Lucy for 2 nights in October of 2018. We had such a wonderful time and wished we could have stayed a lot longer! Reclaimed barn pieces, French colonial furniture and oriental rugs fit together to blend colonial influences into the rugged setting of the beautiful Hill country. They have even rebuilt piece by piece a Catholic Church discovered in Vietnam. We were impressed with the stand alone stone bathtubs that were situated in a pebble base allowing for the tub water to overflow. The rooms were incredibly clean, spacious and comfortable. Tillie's restaurant had only been open for about a week and while there were a few minor glitches with service, the food was absolutely incredibly. The chef added fermented vegetables into starter and main dishes which brought such a unique and lovely taste to all the dishes we tried. We imagine that the few glitches in service we experienced, while expected in such a new restaurant, have all been worked out by now. We look forward to being able to spend more time at Camp Lucy next October when we return to Austin! read more

Fiancé and I came from the DFW area with high hopes on Camp Lucy. In short, disappointed. We arrived precisely on time to find out that our guide (Alex) that was going to be showing us the venue grounds decided to take a "walk in" rather than our prearranged appointment. They had us sit for 45min waiting for her after our already long morning traveling. When she finally caught up to us, she did apologize but the story changed multiple times. Lastly, placing blame on the person we had been originally established with that was unable to meet with us due to a scheduling conflict. The very person that assured us we would be taken care of. Some added expense that they won't give you till you come check it out: -You must use their caterer, $65/person for buffet (other options available but additional cost). -Outdoor heaters $75 per unit plus expense for propane. -They have a total of 200 chairs at "Sacred Oaks" if you want any more? $12.50 per foldable wooden chair. -Want a cross behind you? Yeah you'll have to rent that too. Any other adjustments? Oooh they have it lol but be prepared to rent it. Understanding that everything has its cost... Camp Lucy has a nice set up but... the service we received during our initial encounter wasn't. Not worth the $$$. There are many, many other places where you will get more bang for the buck. I also should add.....upon driving up I passed by a couple of the visitors staying at Camp Lucy having a little morning weed lol, might not be the best for the kids, not that the venue had anything to do with that. This review is specifically for the pool pass. We were pretty underwhelmed. The pool is small, more like a private residential pool size which kind of forces you to be pretty close to everyone. The vibe was a little douchy and the food was super mediocre. We were excited to try some things from the Tilly's menu but our dishes were just ultra basic and lacking in taste and presentation. Seems like the kitchen doesn't care about what they serve at the pool honestly. The worst part was no where do they tell you to that you can't order past 5 pm with your $75 credit. We were saving our credit to order some things for dinner because the pool closes at 7. Instead we left hungry and irritated. The bartender was very nice and accommodating and that's really the only positive I have for their pool pass experience. Did a much cheaper pool pass at the Sheraton in Austin recently and it was lovely and the food was excellent. I wouldn't waste your time driving from Austin for this... read more

Camp Lucy is so beautiful - I had the pleasure of staying there in January for a work event. The guest rooms are so nice - the tiled showers are beautiful and the beds are so comfortable - they are about the open up a new restaurant named Tillie's and I am so excited to come back in a few months and try it! Because Camp Lucy provides a number of services, we've reviewed it in separate parts. We used the Ian's chapel area for our festivities, and we reserved all of the on-site lodging for our guests. We also used Whim for the catering (required) and the florals (optional). Venue -- 5 stars The venue was really beautiful, and having very nice lodging on-site was perfect for the wedding weekend we wanted. They helped organize activities (Val was great!), had campfires with smores, and enough general hang-out space that the groups of attendees really had wonderful opportunities to both spend time with friends and family they already knew and loved and also meet new folks through semi-structured activities. And we got to be present and participate in the fun as well. It was a really delightful time. Day of logistics were super smooth. We had no issues day-of. They were able to switch to our back-up rain plan (inside Ian's Chapel instead of by the Stone Arch) with no problem. Overall venue planning interactions -- 3 stars The overall planning process was okay but moderately unpleasant. The people we interacted with were always nice, but there were several very practical things that could have been more pleasant. From the beginning, we had to financially commit with a large non-refundable deposit to Camp Lucy (which meant we were committing to Whim as well) before we got any firm pricing from Whim. That was uncomfortable and seemingly unnecessary. Also, we kept experiencing situations where they had told us they would do something and then either they didn't do it or we had to remind them. There was annoyance in dealing with different people who didn't communicate on their end. Whim Catering (food and alcohol) -- 4 stars We thought the food was very good. We wished there would have been more cost-effective options than they offered, as the food/alcohol was an overall larger fraction of the total wedding budget than we originally planned for and would have expected to spend at another venue where we could control the food/drink options. Lodging office / logistics -- 1.5 stars This was a bit of a nightmare both in the entire time leading up to the weekend and during the weekend as well. The number of times we had to call and correct and re-correct errors they made on their end was a huge time sink and regular frustration. At one point, because we were checking our booking list regularly, we noticed that they had booked a new guest over a previous reservation, kicking the first one out without telling them. Because they were already full, they couldn't even offer an alternate room to the over-booked group, and in apology they offered a pitifully small compensation to book at some not-very-nearby and expensive alternate option. I was disgusted. And then, incredibly, when we arrived, we found out that they had also booked over ANOTHER guest's reservation, which we had missed. This meant a guest arrived with a reservation/confirmation and didn't have a room available, causing no small hassle at the last minute to figure out alternative options. Again, the apology for their failure to keep their reservations straight was minimal at best. And then there were the issues with the breakfasts. They had originally told us they would have continental breakfast at the lodging office, then they told us they wouldn't and would instead provide coupons for the on-site restaurant at far less than the cost of breakfast. After insisting, they finally ended up doing the continental breakfast. But every morning, they kept running out of food and taking forever to re-stock. Again, disappointing experience for us and our guests. I give them a bump to 1.5 stars here because one of their employees was competent (thanks Haley!) and the rooms were quite nice. Whim Florals -- 2 stars The flowers ended up looking nice, but the interactions leading up to the weekend were a pain. They consistently refused to listen to what we said we wanted and instead kept trying to tell us what we wanted. It turns out they were wrong, and when it came to it, we wish we would have insisted and actually gone more toward what we wanted. Rather unpleasant overall. In addition, they did nasty things like offering us a gift arrangement and then taking it away without any explanation. We really didn't enjoy the florals interactions. Overall They have huge potential to be a 5++ star venue if there was improvement in management, especially with communication between Camp Lucy representatives and their approach to lodging reservations. The location and spaces are all beautiful in the Texas hill country. We ended up having a great time during our wedding weekend, I think in part because we had awesome guests who made the most of it. If you're willing to keep an eye on Camp Lucy/Whim - keeping good records, standing your ground, and making sure they hear what you actually want, it can turn out great. read more
