If you're looking for a great Jewish camp family to join, Camp Zeke is for you! I am a rabbi and Jewish educator who has been working with youth and Jewish camping for the last 20 years. Zeke is the 8th overnight camp I've either attended or staffed. Over the years, I have been a bunk counselor, a drama specialist, an arts & craft specialist, a unit head, a camper care specialist, a Judaics teacher, and now, at Zeke, I am the camp rabbi. I first heard about Zeke before its first summer, and knew I wanted to be a part of the founding family of this unique Jewish fitness and culinary arts camp. I was welcomed into the family with open arms in 2014, and have not looked back! Isaac and Lisa are incredible people, and when they say "Kindness is our highest value" at Zeke, they truly live it. The fitness-focused program is incredible, offering circus, silks, slackline, martial arts, yoga, strength training, dance, running (just to name a few), and the culinary arts goes well beyond your usual camp cookie kitchen. The more traditional camp activities are also fabulous, with energy-filled song sessions, a beautiful private lake with boating, swimming, and water toys, and sports, music, theater, hiking, bonfires, and the general warmth and enthusiasm you would expect from an overnight camp. The dining hall serves healthful and delicious food, and it is easy to be vegetarian, vegan, or allergy-friendly. The bunks are comfortable and homey. The staff comes from all over the world, and each one is united in their commitment to kindness and Zeke's Jewish values of welcoming, caring, and inclusion. Now that some time has gone by since camp, I want to update my review. The summer of 2018 was probably Camp Zeke's best summer yet. Since the camp's founding, the theme seems to be growth. From our family's standpoint, as the camper numbers go up, so too do the program offerings, additions to the facility, and quality of staff. The challenge, of course, is not growing too much too quickly. The management is very conscious of that concern and on top of it. Our family values healthy food, a kind and laid-back group of campers, and the Jewish cultural aspects of camp. The camp is a unique space for families like mine. That means that we see kids make close friendships within a community of other kids and families who value the same things as us. That's really nice! Hopefully those friendships will last for many years to come, and the kids will be good influences on each other who reinforce the camp's (and our family's) values. We are excited to see how the camp will continue its growth as time goes on. It's a unique experience to be part of such a new and vibrant camp community, and I know many families feel the same way. Many campers are treated poorly. There are very few staff members that care about the campers and their well-being. Activities are limited to only sports, with cheap equipment, and rarely swimming in the lake or pool, which are both dirty. Teens get no freedom and are monitored 24/7; boys and girls are yelled at just for sitting next to eachother. The trips are terrible and not fun at all. The only place they go to is a hiking trip with dangerous trails and they don't give you a choice whether you want to go or not. On the website it is stated that there are 4 beds per room and 3 rooms for campers per bunk, yet the camp accepts too many people and decides to push 5 people into a small room, resulting in 15 campers per bunk instead of 12 as the website stated, making it harder to move around and leaving each room overcrowded. There isn't even enough space per person to put their clothing. Most of the time, the water is either shut off or there is no hot water. The air conditioners don't work and laundry is usually lost or shrunken. read more

I've been going to this camp for the past 4 years. It has been an incredible experience for me. I love the hearts of the people who work here. They genuinely care about the campers and staff and often go the extra mile to meet their needs. Like with anything the camp isn't perfect (nothing is), and they are constantly adding different programming and ideas to the camp to make it more enjoyable for everyone going. I recently spent a weekend at Camp Zeke with a couple friends and it was truly the perfect weekend. Camp Zeke's scenery was beautiful, the food was healthy and delicious, the cabins were clean and cozy, and the activities were endless. Camp Zeke is a fantastic camp! The variety and quality of activities offered is unbelievable and the staff are consistently warm, welcoming, and engaged! Just spent Colombus Day weekend here and was blown away by the kindness and swift and professional customer service. The staff was incredible. Amazing facilities and staff! Would give 6 stars if it was possible :) The food was delicious and freshly prepared, and the service of the kitchen staff was extremely gracious. We hosted a retreat of 330+ people Friday thru Monday and we loved every moment. read more

Just leaving Camp Zeke from a weekend retreat and had a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The facilities were nice and well kept. They had a verity or facilities available and the nature was beyond breathtaking. read more
