This place is such a gem. It has a huge indoor rock climbing wall. We didn't have time to try it but we will be back for it. We went for the indoor water park area. It was a nice size with two slides. My favorite things were the soft bottom on the bottom of the pool (so much nicer than scraping your toes on concrete or plaster pool bottoms). And my other favorite thing was the water temp. It was absolutely perfect. Refreshing but not cold at all. They also have a huge hot tub for 16 and over which really made relaxing nice while your kids ran around. They also have a 13' deep end with two different diving boards, one about 5' tall and made to look like a rock. The facilities were modern, clean and well taken care of. My 6th grade kids only cost 3.50 to get in and 6$ for adults. Amazing. Well worth the 90 minute drive from Spearfish. read more

It is a surprise that I cannot find this huge "gym" on yelp at all. Have to add it on to save and share my happy memory! I envy the residents in Gillette, WY for this great and huge recreation center. Huge water park with all kinds of fun programs including tube slides, hot tub, swimming pool. Basket ball, rock climbing, etc. Above all, the price is surprisingly low. It has different discounts for senior residents, students and other residents. Even if you are just a visitor, a one-day pass for adult only costs $5. Staff extremely friendly. Errr, the lockers here are kinda funny - it requires 2 quarters for one-time use-- that is REALLY ONE-TIME use which means if you open the locker to take something out and want to lock it again you will have to pay another 50 cents... And one should be warned that it costs $1 to borrow one towel from the front desk. However, as I just mentioned, the staff are extremely friendly, and they often waive these cost for those who are not prepared for them. There was a fountain in front of the gate, and my turtle loved it... :) Great place. Nice memory on my trip. read more

I was so happy when the new recreation center opened up back in April 2010. I've turned into a bit of a fitness fanatic and am very impressed by the number of amenities the new facility has: a rock climbing wall, a lap and leisure pool, water slides for the kiddos, basketball courts, tracks, cardio area, weight room, three exercise rooms and more! My personal favorite are the spinning bikes. It's a great workout. Even if that's not your cup of tea there is such a variety of equipment and even classes to take! Prices aren't bad either. Even if you're a visitor without a membership an adult is $5 and you can do anything. It's fantastic! read more

This was a welcome find in Gillette. The day pass is now all the way up to $6.00! Great cardio selection, more than adequate free weights, pulley machines, etc. Lots of room to walk it out, if that's your thing. Very nice looking courts and pools, though I didn't use them. Looking forward to a return visit next week when I'll be back in town. read more

So refreshing to have a brand new gorgeous facility in town! I love the friendly staff here, they absolutely make the experience enjoyable. The rec center has a decent monthly rate, and they offer a wide variety of classes that keep things fun and motivational. They are always changing to include new work out equipment, and they always have enough to go around during busy times of the day. This is a very clean, modern, and spacious public facility. Guest passes are only $5, so it's a great value for business travelers looking to get a workout. There are plenty of cardio machines, an indoor track, weights and weight machines, a climbing wall, a pool, and more. The locker rooms have day use lockers (bring your own lock) which are very convenient. I am extremely impressed with this facility. The city of Gillette is certainly doing right by its citizens by providing this first-class health and fitness recreational facility. read more
