Went on a six hour whale watching tour with Jos (owner of Eagle Eye) as our guide. Had an amazing…read moretime exploring north and east of Campbell River. We saw Pacific White Sided Dolphins in a group of 150+, Sea Lions feeding on salmon, Humpback Whale mother and calf, black bear and incredible tidal whirlpools. Everday is different when you go out. Today's tour took us through Discovery Passage and around Sonora with dockside lunch on Stuart Island at Big Bay. Jos and Rentia are incredibly kind, courteous and experienced. Very safety oriented and well connected with the local guiding and business community. Their Ikaika enclosed boat was very clean, quiet, fast and accesible for all abilities. Highly recommend Eagle Eye. If your fortunate to get Jos, he'll share some great life stories, photography and deep ethic for protecting the Pacific coast, its wildlife, and our planet.

You really get the sense that he loves what he does and has the utmost respect for the environment and nature. We saw dolphins, whales and bear! His boat is covered and comfortable. It's a relatively small tour - I think just 12 people - which gives the opportunity for lots of interaction and the opportunity to ask questions. We will definitely come back to Campbell River for another tour with Aboriginal Journeys. Highly recommend.

Simply put, it needs an upgrade. We didn't spend too much ($150) as we were only booked for the…read morenight as we were passing through. We also weren't expecting the best room as we saw how much the price fluctuated depending on where you are on the property, some are ocean views and much bigger suites. The hotel photographs better than it actually looks. The location is just outside of the city by 7 mins which we didn't mind at all, the location is beautifully located right on the water but boy could it be so much better with a good upgrade and modernization. We checked in easy and the staff was pleasant. We got to our room and it was abit weird in terms of layout. Stairs down to the double bed room. There's a table randomly in the corner with one chair. The room is spacious but there's nothing to fill the space, there's no artwork either when they could totally lean into the West coast of it all. The bathroom was freezing and shoved to the back of the room like a closet - no window or ventilation. The decks have absolutely no privacy screening and the furniture is really uncomfortable so it's not the most pleasant to sit outside unless you really wanna chat with your neighbors. The beds were the best part - super comfy mattress and sheets. The amenities are worn down - we went to the gym and a lot of the stuff wasn't working. We didn't try the pool as it was quite busy with kiddos. We did however enjoy sitting on the dock down by the water for abit to soak in the ocean and sun! When we were ready to leave our car was absolutely covered in bird shit lol. There should be some sort of warning to not park under a particular tree at the back as apparently it happened to the guy next to us too a day before so he switched parking spots! We had to go to the gas station to wash it off. All in all I'd look at other options next time.
