Stuck in the 90's bland decor and furnishings and rooms smell with cigarette smoke. Yet the restaurant and bar are quite the opposite. Just goes to show where the priorities are. For North Americans reading this review, the quality of the rooms and beds are like a Hampton Inn or Fairfield Inn, but at EUR 170 a night (USD 220)! If you have to attend a conference at the WTC some time between September and March, then the convenience of the hotel beats having to bear the rain and/or cold during that time of year. Otherwise, pass.

Ask for a room on a top floor overlooking the Place Victor Hugo which is beautiful in the spring / summer. - Location is terrific in the center of town, walking distance from everything including the train station. - Staff is nice and helpful. - Price normally includes a nice buffet breakfast but you'll have to shell out another euro for an espresso. - Free overnight parking with some restrictions. May not ooze charm but remains my favorite place to stay in the city.

Attribute A is location, and the views of place Victor Hugo really make this hotel worth staying at. The hotel staff speak good English and the wi-fi works well, too. Note that there is no actual parking on site. The hotel will direct you to a city lot a few blocks away with which it has a discount arrangement. However, there are 2 parking spots on the sidewalk out front (yes, you read that correctly) if you need to drop off your luggage or load up your vehicle. We had the buffet breakfast one morning, and it was fine for what it was, though grossly overpriced (as you'd expect).
