Here is a text from my memory, which must now go back to the times in 1994…read more As a child I regularly visited this campsite with my parents and my brother, as campers and as a proud tenant of a bungalow. The 1200 km long journey from Germany all took in their stride, although without an air conditioning and navigation in the car, it not made the journey a pleasure. One of the first things that hit me in the head when I look back, is the incredibly intense fragrance of a streamed after go out from the car in the nose of conifers and olive trees in addition the whole place was cozy. The panoramic view from the mountain to the open sea makes the typical holiday feeling strong again. The two pools that were easily accessible from anywhere on the grounds were always well attended and my parents and we children were fast connection to other visitors. The small supermarket and the restaurant were a blast, also for the Framework Programme for entertainment (children's discos, night swimming, animation) I have good memories. As an camper you had all the comforts of home near the standing space of your tent, washing their own closeable refrigerator and flushing and showers. In the bungalow, of course, everything was integrated. At night you could hear the quiet chirping of crickets while still a comfortable 20 degrees. The surrounding area was easyly to reach in the car, like the beach, sightseeing the cities of Genoa and San Remo. Then 14 days were far too fast gone. In my opinion, be recommended if today has not changed much of the charm of the plant.

AMBIANCE/COMMON AREA: Friendly, laid-back atmosphere amongst the guests. Besides the dining room, there is only 1 main common area, which is small and gets crowded every night. There is a TV and DVDs available so one can chill and watch. There is a mini-fridge and microwave available in this area. The view from the common room is just gorgeous! STAFF: The staff are locals. They are polite and laid-back. They sell bus tickets to go to La Spezia. Free shuttle rides with a 3-night stay or more. FOOD: You can see the chefs cooking in the kitchen. Niko is the head chef. He does a fantastic job with the meals. Damiano is also great. Both are great cooks and nice! Maybe one day I'll come back and ask for private cooking tutorials (seriously though). Dinner is made to order. My favorite dishes were: the breakfast yogurt with fruits and bits of shaved chocolate, gnocchi, spaghetti with mussels/tuna, Chantilly cream dessert, and tiramisu. All simple, but super delicious! Prices are very reasonable. I enjoyed the food here over the Italian restaurants I have been to on my trip around Italy. The menu changes every 2 to 3 days. DOWNSIDES: -Fridge is too small. So you can't really buy much items. -Only 2 outlets in the 4-bed female dorm room. -The bathroom could use more wall hooks and/or a mini-table to place your items for showering. -There is no activity to foster social interaction. You are left on your own to initiate conversation. But at least the atmosphere amongst guests was friendly though. -They really should get a laundry dryer for guests, especially on days it's raining or cold. -The shuttle times to Riomaggiore is limited.

Overall a pretty good no frills budget option for those visiting Cinque Terre. Keep in mind the…read morehostel is located outside La Spezia in Biassa, so you have to plan transportation accordingly. Public buses run from near the train station in La Spezia to just outside the hostel (but tend to run a little late). It is quiet and peaceful in the town but not many options in the way of cafes, bars, or restaurants. The hostel itself has a very nice outside garden patio area for lounging as well as a comfortable sun room upstairs. A continental breakfast is available for 4 euro until 9:45am. Snacks, drinks, and full meals also available throughout the day. Prices are a little less than what you would find in town. Wifi is pretty decent, although can be a little slow at night when everyone is using it. There is no wifi in the rooms, only in common space. The staff is friendly and helpful with directions and train/bus info. Free shuttle rides to and from Riomaggiore are offered, but need to be booked in advance and have limited seating. The rooms themselves are sparse as expected for hostels. We booked a private room with a double bed--quite spacious, especially with the vaulted ceiling. There is some storage space for clothes as well as a TV which we did not use. It was never too hot or to cold or too noisy. The hostel does have quiet hours and a curfew. The beds are decent but we didn't use the provided blanket, it looked a little worse for wear. The fitted sheet on our mattress also had some really disturbing stains (yes plural), so we lay on top of the flat sheet. I would bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper since the town bells rings frequently starting early in the morning around 5am. There are many bathrooms and showers so we never really encountered a wait. The toilets are pretty clean and the showers have hot water, but some of them can be a really tight space. You basically need to go in there in a towel and leave in a towel because there is not much space to set your clothes and toiletries down without something falling onto the wet ground. It is not set up for a luxurious shower, but rather a quick simple rinse and rub down, which is to be expected in a hostel. You also can't stay in your rooms from 10:30 to 2pm when the bathrooms are being cleaned, but upstairs is open. tl;dr Pros: inexpensive, friendly and helpful staff, good sized rooms, hot showers, free shuttle rides Cons: showers need a little updating, stained sheets

Stayed here for a week and it was perfect. I don't like to optimize for hotels while traveling…read morebecause I tend to spend so little time in them, but this means that you can really be rolling the dice as far as lodging is concerned. I booked a single room here and was not disappointed. First and foremost, the location is absolutely impossible to beat. You're walking distance from both L1 and L2 trams as well as a TER train station. Additionally, you're right next to Avenue Jean Médecin, which is a must-see. The Avenue also offers a direct walking (or short tram) route down to Place Masséna and Vieux Nice. The room itself was both clean and quaint. Free WiFi is offered. Towels are changed and trash is emptied daily. The staff was nice and helpful. Free breakfast is offered in the morning in the form of coffee and cereal, which I feel is pretty standard for most hostels I've been to. The hostel itself has a great terrace in between buildings where people like to meet, drink, and socialize. There are cool restaurants nearby, as well as a great bakery and a grocery store. The hostel also has a kitchen with shareable dishes, which we took advantage of for our wine. That being said, keep your expectations low: it is a hostel, after all. It's around 100 euro per night, so as long as you're not expecting the Hyatt or the Ritz, you should not be disappointed. Would highly recommend and definitely plan on coming back! This place was absolutely terrible. For starters, I am writing this review here because the hostel…read moredidn't officially confirm our visit on Hostelworld making us not "verified visitors" - leaving us unable to leave a review on there (sketchy enough). This makes a lot of sense though because in no world does this hostel deserve a "8.0 fabulous" rating as seen in Hostelworld. Here is a list of reasons why our stay was terrible and why you should never book: - At check in they informed us that their card reader wasn't working, making us walk to a currency exchange to pull out more cash. This wouldn't be a big deal, however we found reviews from months ago mentioning the same thing, making it clear they have made no effort to fix this. If I had to guess, this has to do with them keeping transactions off the books so that they don't have to verify traveler's stays in Hostelworld, preventing them from leaving reviews. - The AC was not working. On Hostelworld it clearly states that there is AC and in our room there was a unit mounted to the wall, however there was no way to turn it on. The front desk said there should be a remote, which we didn't have and they gave us some excuse that they would need someone to come in and look at it the next day (which never happened). This made the room near uninhabitable for sleeping. - We requested an all male room and were put with 2 females. While this wasn't a huge deal for us, one of the girls in our room also told us that she requested an all female room and got put in our room. The safety risk/discomfort this could pose is clear. - There were NO curtains/sun blockers of any kind in our room. You'll be sure to be waking up with the sun during your stay! - The bed conditions. The mattresses (if you can even call them that) were thin and placed on a metal grate bed frame that you could feel every bit of when trying to sleep. There is also a high probability of bed bugs because my friends and I came out of our stay with pretty of new bites. - The housekeeping staff will barge into your room every day around 9am and start cleaning, even if you are in there still. While we are thankful to have a clean room, this could be done at a much more considerate time. If you've made it this far I hope that I have helped you to avoid choosing this hostel. Nearby air bnbs are 100x nicer and comparable in price. I'd honestly rather sleep on the streets than here again. It was a breath of fresh air to check out.
