What those reviewers often overlook is that this building is approximately 144 years old. It looks like something straight out of a fairy tale--a traditional Black Forest house full of character and history. If you're looking for a unique and authentic experience rather than a generic chain hotel, this place is a gem. The view is absolutely great. When you sit on the terrace, you can see the waterfall entrance and enjoy a beautiful street view at the same time. It really adds something special to the whole experience and makes it even more memorable. The room was the perfect size for our stay, and everything was spotless. The bathroom is small, but we managed just fine. The cleanliness throughout the hotel was impressive. The food was excellent, and the staff worked incredibly hard to make guests feel welcome and well taken care of. Accessibility is limited, which is to be expected in a historic building. There are no elevators, and the hotel is not fully barrier-free. My mother who recently had hip surgery still managed the stairs without major issues, but guests with mobility challenges should be aware of this before booking. Also, pack light if possible--hauling a heavy suitcase up the stairs would not be fun in a 144-year-old building. The only real challenge is parking. We recommend scouting out parking options before arrival. Within 5 min walking distance you'll find the Männerparkhaus parking garage. Be aware that the walk back to the hotel is uphill and fairly steep, so if you're traveling with someone who has difficulty walking, it's best to drop them off at the hotel first. We parked overnight on Level 2 and paid €16, which was absolutely worth it for the convenience and the abundance of parking spaces. Overall, this hotel offers history, charm, cleanliness, great food, a hardworking team, and an unforgettable view. If you appreciate character and understand that a historic property won't have all the features of a modern hotel, you'll likely enjoy your stay as much as we did.

A cute breakfast area that came with our stay. Bread, cheese, meats, eggs, yogurt, juice, water and coffee. The rooms are decent. I suggest to bring toiletries. Shampoo, conditioner and lotion. My room had a balcony and it looked towards the waterfall. Nice spot to drop your things off and take a nice walk towards the falls or around the town. Plenty coo coo clocks and stores to check out.

I had two different dishes with wonderful chanterelle mushrooms and a cream sauce and summer vegetables. They also have a children's menu and our daughter enjoyed the spaghetti bolognese. The desserts were tasty too.
