They forget that they are nothing more than an over paid under educated bunch of mechanics who have very little to say once the contract is signed. We found a car and for several months the payments were made perfectly. Unfortunately my brother later lost his job and stopped making payments. I fully understand that it is not the dealership's fault that he stopped paying. However, as the co signer, I believe I had the right to be notified when payments were missed. I was never contacted by the dealership to inform me that the account had fallen behind. Instead, the vehicle was repossessed without any communication to me. My credit score has dropped nearly 100 points as a result, and I am now responsible for paying off the remaining balance. What is most frustrating is that I had previously called and asked to be notified if there were ever any issues with the account. Even after the vehicle was repossessed, I was the one who had to call to find out what was going on. I was told I would be contacted after repairs were completed and informed about the next steps regarding payment. I never received any follow up. Throughout this entire process, there was no effort to communicate with me or seek payment before allowing the situation to escalate to repossession and collections. As a co signer, you may not be notified if payments are missed, and that lack of communication can seriously damage your credit. Based on my experience, I do not recommend this dealership. I did not feel supported or informed at any point during this process.
