I came in to buy some stamps for some post cards. They had the forever stamps and I bought one book of them. The people working were all very friendly. There was no wait on Friday around 4pm. read more

Surprisingly there was no Yelp listing for this PO so I created one to help the next person to find it. Small town post offices are so much more relaxed and pleasant than big city ones so it is always a pleasure to go in one, even if they do give me funny looks for my lavender hair.

I still needed to fill out the mailing details, so I figured a short wait would be fine. I should have known the experience wasn't going to go well, because when I asked for the smallest envelopes, I was glared at and provided with a general pointing towards a wall of envelopes. Then, after unsuccessfully looking around a very disorganized postal area (Shoppers Drug Mart uses most of the space for storing toilet paper it seems), I finally asked the ladies again for a pen. One just stared at me, while the other matter-of-factly said "you will need to wait, as our computers are down and you can't pay for anything anyway". I asked if I could just buy the envelope and mail it later, I just received a "No, our computers are down". I understand technical problems happen, and am not disappointed because of this... it's the way the customer service ladies approached the situation that was a bit surprising. When computers aren't cooperating, the thing that can make or break a customer's experience is the way the employees deal with the situation and the people involved. A simple smile, positive attitude and "oh shoot, we're really sorry - this computer has been acting up all morning, so it'd be better if you came back later" would have sufficed! I'll head to the downtown postal office from now on.

I had a driver's license, Canadian passport, my birth certificate and a credit card with my name and signature on it but she was still giving me a hard time about the ID's. The lady was quick which was great but she was very lippy and talked back to me after most things I had said. She had to call head office to renew my card (which is absolutely no problem) and I was telling her things while she was on the phone to help her but instead she got mad and told me to stop talking because she can't hear the person on the other end of the phone because my voice is too loud. I apologized for talking while she was on the phone but she still continued to talk back at me. She would not even tell me her name and she was not wearing a name tag. I had asked for her name so I could file a complaint but she refused and told me that her initials were on the bottom of the temporary paper. I looked at the initials and they were signed so hastily that I can't even tell what letters they are. Disappointingly rude service and I can't believe a person working for the government can treat someone this horribly just for a health card renewal. I will NEVER return here as long as she is working there because a simple process of Completely unacceptable.
