I went to Canadian Tire this morning to get an OBD2 scan for my engine light, which is usually a free basic service at many places. The scan itself is very simple and can even be done with a basic $50-$60 scanner you can find at Canadian tire itself lol I was quoted $175 + tax "just to read the code", which felt quite unreasonable for such a basic diagnostic. I also mentioned that if there was a faulty part, I would have the repair done there, but I was told that would be a separate process + charge lol. At that point, I honestly questioned why I wouldn't just go straight to a dealership or another shop that provides clearer pricing and service. I ended up going Partsource, got the scan done free, within 5 minutes, and done the repair. Overall, I feel Canadian Tire is not what it used to be. I used to trust it as a convenient large retailer/garage, good selection option, but this experience changed my opinion. There are many ways to lose loyal customers, and this is one of them lol. 3.5 rounding up to 4 for some of the service. Mixed bag between the good, the bad, and the ugly. The good: decent selection of stock. Not perfect (some items completely sold out), but a lot of stocking was happening, and I did find what I needed. Better than good: I asked a staff about burlap tree covers, and he receptively and cheerily responded with the aisle number. He actually descended his ladder and left his stocking to follow and make sure I found it. I was glad, not because I hadn't found the item, but because the labeling had some kind of error. He explained what he could, and started checking his device to see if he could make sense of the illogical shelf tag. He confirmed what the price difference for the different sizes was, and I could be sure I would get the best value for the product I wanted. The staff who handled my exchange was also polite and efficient. The bad: This is a somewhat smaller location compared to some others. Also, the merchandising doesn't always make sense. I found one model of silicone kitchen glove in one kitchen aisle, but found a bunch of others in another part of the store. The ugly: Last but not least, the staff minding the returns area was rather snarky when the gate wasn't behaving, and she had to try more than once to get it open. Overall, it's an adequate location with a nice selection of goods. The prices aren't the best, but never exorbitant, and they have regular sales and clearance items. We also take advantage of the Triangle rewards program, which yields a better return than most others. Sometimes I'll have to go to another location for a specific item, but in general, we find what we need here. I'm happy to shop here regularly. read more

I've been coming to this Canadian Tire location for auto service because they always have spots available for online booking. The Canadian Tire location closer to my home only has availability one month out. I've come here for an oil change, tire replacement, and battery replacement. No one likes going to service their car because they feel like they're being upsold. However, whenever I come here asking for more than an oil change, they always ask why -- as in to determine whether I actually need the service I'm requesting. I like that because it makes me feel like I'm not being taken advantage of. In addition, if you have the Triangle World Elite Mastercard, you get an annual voucher for a free conventional oil change (or a discount off a synthetic oil change). I'm quite happy with the service that I get at this location and even more happy that online booking is such a breeze. read more

Well organized, way more stacked and it's fairly larger than the other locations, I found the merchandize way better than what you might find elsewhere at other locations. The Party City extension is huge with many isles, and you can find everything easily by following their website/isle locations. To be honest: Canadian Tire wasn't my first choice, but that is going to change. I went here for new tires after I made a pretty bad experience with another tire service. I was on time and so my truck got in the shop at the appointed time. I think the time for the change of four tires was ok. I mean I didn't expect a F1 pit stop. During the job the tech found the alignment of the wheels were off big time and so that got fixed right away, too. Was at reduced price due to the purchase of tires. Overall I'm pretty happy that I now got 4 bad ass looking tires on my truck, the truck is not pulling left anymore and at the end I paid less than expected. They advertise being Canadas garage. Dropped in to CT for an Etest while picking up a few items. They were able to take me right away and complete the work in 30 mins. During that time I walked over to the isles to get some items. As with most large department stores, staff was doing their work and seemed uninterested in any customer interactions. During my visit, no one asked me if I needed any help as I wandered around over and over in the same areas looking aimlessly for my items. Stock levels also did not match any near the web site levels. When my car was ready they paged my wife?? and did not have my cell number to call. We had our car serviced at Canadian Tire Auto Center. Simple tire repair. After they took off the tire, they called and stated that our brake pad had 2mm left and that we needed the brake pad and rotor to be changed and maintained. The brake pads only had 1 month life left in them. I told them that we have our car serviced regularly at the dealership and have been told otherwise. I asked them for the % left. I called my mechanic at the dealership who confirmed that my brakes were checked in April and I had at least another year life. When I returned to the Auto Center, their story changed and said that they "double checked the brakes" and it was 'fine'. The Auto Center Desk said they wanted to be sure the story was straight or else I would come back and ask questions as to how they thought my brake pads needed changing when my dealership stated otherwise. I think they were trying to misrepresent the condition of the brakes to have extra work and billings. It was slow that morning and to say the brakes had 1 month life left when it wasn't true makes me realize there is a reason why we don't go to Canadian Tire for our regular car maintenance. We understand most Auto Centers try to up-sell you on extra items (ie: new windshield wipers etc) but to say our brake pads were down to 2mm, when it wasn't true, is being dishonest. To change their story once I told them my dealership does my regular maintenance and that I will call my dealership to confirm the status of my brakes......priceless. All in all, they did fix the tire and did a good job with that. read more

This Canadian Tire is the one I'll usually venture to when I need something from this store (or when there is a sale). Conveniently located on Highway 7, this store is larger than others....and usually cleaner. It's not crowded like other Canadian Tires, meaning you can maneuver the aisles fairly easy. The staff at this particular store are more helpful than other locations and will actually approach you to offer assistance. Canadian Tire sales are legendary....just make sure you know your prices. I purchase a deep fryer a few years back that was "On Sale"...marked down from $159 to $109. When I went to Walmart a few months later, the same item was regularly priced at $95. Another sneaky thing they do is attach large Yellow Tags on the shelves...to give the impression that they're on sale....but when you read closely....it says "great low price" read more

PLEASE take my warning and avoid the auto service at this location unless you are in dire need... waited for half an hour as the clueless rep at the computer searched for my oil type.... like this wasn't the 4th god damn time I've had my oil changed at this same location Got a call an hour later saying that my dip stick broke when they took it out... (I had just checked it 3 days prior with absolutely no problems) and were charging me another 70$ in parts and labor... more than the oil change itself and the person on the phone was excessively rude accusing me of putting words in his mouth after I asked why I was paying for something their employees broke. One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had and I've been in this game for 10 years. this location is decent, but check the stock levels online before showing up, sometimes its hit or miss, especially on "big sale" times. I usually run over here on lunch to grab an odd or end. everyone seems really friendly, and the store is generally clean. the parking lot is massive, the only knock other then the stock levels, is that this location is absolutely painful to get into, and get out of. read more

You know, I have been coming here for over 20 years. I love Canadian Tire. Their Canadian Tire "Money" used to be like gold when I was younger. But sadly, now, Canadian Tire just doesn't care. ESPECIALLY this location. Regular prices are around 50-100% more than the regular prices of Home Depot, Lowes, etc. No, I'm not exaggerating. This location is particularly poor as it is constantly in disarray and dirty, and the customer service (as all Canadian Tires) is below par at best. Even on weekends with 30+ people in line, only 2 cashiers are open. This is consistently a problem that no one seems to deal with. Clueless staff are wandering around the store seemingly twittling their thumbs as customers are waiting for assistance, or to just get out and pay. I really want Canadian Tire to continue to succeed, but seriously, they don't care about customers. After recently purchasing an elliptical from Canadian Tire I received an email soliciting my review of the machine to assist other potential customers in making a decision. This is the review that was submitted and subsequently rejected by Canadian Tire "I've only had the elliptical for a few days and so far it has performed as well as I had expected. My issue is with how fragmented and disjointed the online purchasing experience was. Step 1. Order elliptical through the Canadian Tire store website. Step 2. Drive to the store to confirm the purchase, sign paperwork and also given the contact information for a third party delivery service which I had to contact on my own and make arrangements as far as the date and time of delivery and also the cost. I guess my question is why in this day and age when just about everyone has a streamlined online presence is Canadian Tire still doing business as if it were back in the 2000's. A few months back I ordered a weight bench on Amazon, chose the 2 day shipping option and if I remember correctly, little over 24 hours later there was a knock on my door from the UPS man with my delivery. Didn't have to visit a store, didn't have to make delivery arrangements, nothing. Now that's how it's supposed to be done in 2017" Now maybe my review did not adhere to their guidelines as far as staying on topic and writing only about my experience using the machine. People went the wrong way and she still served them before me. One lady had left her spot and came back to pay a bill and maria said she was here before me. More time spent on arguing why they can't serve me than it would take to call someone and find out how to complete the transaction. One nonsense excuse after another. This location offers MNR services. A list of these services along with their prices are posted at the cash register, however, the staff repeatedly denied that they have the ability to print a fishing license. Staff have not been trained on how to use their own equipment, claiming in two years no one has ever required this service. They told me to call the MNR myself some other time since they're closed, which I did on the spot, and got an answer right away. The MNR confirmed I was in the right place and asking for the right thing. When I got off the phone, both employees had walked away and never came back to complete the transaction. This location and the store manager Antonio is a shame for Canadian Tire brand. If you order a car product, chance is you will not get a call. If you get a call, they would not find the item in the store. And the compensation would be refund and good bye, sorry for the inconvenience and wasting your time. Will still use the location for gardening products, anything that you can "do it yourself and don't ask questions" type of a thing. it's a Sunday afternoon and car tire is low, really low. called the store to see if service dept open on wknd. they said yes, Come on up. Pumped tire enough to get there and headed over. Staff was Friendly, Polite, and Understanding. Could see car through the glass shop Windows, Mechanic was careful with Car, and Did a Great Job plugging tire. It cost $30, and I'd recommend this location on hwy7, to my friends. Comfortable seating and tv while you wait. read more

The car needed the starter changed, towed the car to Canadian Tire since it was close to my home and could walk. Even though the problem was clear and talked to the mechanics, they still charged 95+tax on the tests. Between the phone call with the diagnostic and the call that it was ready there were 45 minutes. They charged 2h and a relatively expensive starter. Trying to understand why, I was told that, generally, even though it takes 15 minutes, they still charge by the book (I don't know what book, but a very good one for them it appears), so 2h. Repairs for emissions test. - The worse service I've ever seen. Get there and there are already two unhappy customers arguing with counter reps. Employees want nothing to do with helping customers. I should have left right there and then. Get my car fixed and ready for emissions, was told that I may need to drive it a bit before my engine light goes off. Fine. Drive it to work the next morning I notice smoke coming out of my engine. I take a look, someone had left an oily rag on the engine block, and this was the source of the smoke. I also notice oil all over the engine. I call in furious, they tell me to bring it in. They do their little spiel then actually tell me that the gentleman who worked on my car mentioned that something else was to be fixed and he told me about it. So I ask the manager to go and get this gentleman, who proceeds to lie to my face and tell me he told me about it, to which I reply he never did or I would have asked him to fix that too. He then mentions that the oily rag wasn't a hazard. At that point I thanked him for his time because going back and forth with him was a waste of time. Totally unprofessional. Ended up having to pay for additional repairs to fix their work at another mechanic who told me that the gasket damage was caused by someone going in and without much care taking the engine block apart. Also an air hose was put back in but was contorted in such a way that no air was flowing, so it was forcing oil out from some crevices. Manager M. Navarro was slightly helpful, but could not or would not do anything about the extra repairs I had to do to fix their problem. Never will I step foot in there again. read more

This is not directly toward Canadian Tire but to a Canada Postal Office at this location. I had some equipment from Bell Canada and i need to return them back, I was told by Bell Canada to go to any Post Office location with included instruction given to clerk to take care of paperwork. Apparently, Bell Canada has a single return authorization code for same type of return product. I shown the packages and instruction to the clerk at the desk, this lady seem like someone who knows better than others. "You know, i have done this before and this is not going to work. You have only one code but 6 packages, our printer can only print out 1 label, you have to copy the label by yourself and put it in." I told her that's not how it works, for 6 different packages, you would need to do 6 different transaction and then you will have 6 different labels to affix to the package. She then told me thats not how it works at Canada Post, each code works only one time. i tried to explained to her there is only one code, same code that Bell Canada gives out to everybody. If that same code wont work twice then the next day someone else who needs to return the similar device will be screwed. Without even trying, she is like i dont care what Bell Canada tells you, but this is the way Canada Post works. I was like Ok, please just try and if it doesnt work, i will talk to them. At that point, she start scanning and tell me something like this "You like to argue dont you? You dont have a good personality, your customer service skill is not good" I told her "OK, i'm sorry i might have raised my voice when talking to you, i'm sorry" and started to think to myself, "Really? Who is doing customer service job here?" At the end of the day, the same code works for multiple packages, and she did not even saying sorry, she said "they must have changed something in the system since the last time i did this", i was like "duh! did i tell you?" but i didn't bother to talk to her anymore. Horrible store...2 weeks ago I bought a starlight for 149.99 (same price as another store). Today I went back for another one, I inquired why the product had gone up by 50.00.
