Trail Series, Part 32 When I was a kid I remember riding my bmx bike to elementary school proudly sporting a backpack with an iron on decal that read "Eat my dirt!" During our off-road buggy tour those days came flooding back to me as there were many times that we found ourselves eating the dirt of those riding with us (which didn't subtract from our enjoyment of freely roaming the Canadian wilderness even a little bit). I couldn't keep myself from loudly expressing my excitement just like a kid enjoying a roller coaster for the first time. I think Dana may have laughed the entirety of the ride and for the longest time I kept thinking to myself, "Wow, I am unusually funny today because she just can't seem to stop laughing. I should probably write this material down!" (It took me longer than I'd care to admit, but I eventually realized that Dana was laughing because she was having so much fun off-roading and not because my comedic material was all that good. ) Joan served as our jovial tour guide and did a great job with the safety orientation before we left, provided excellent instruction about how to safely navigate each section of the course, and timed our river crossing perfectly for the end of our ride (since we happily got drenched!). The course itself was always engaging, provided some spectacular vantage points, and included a great variation of sections to test your technical skills and also give you an opportunity to open up that throttle (at times exceeding speeds of 60 kph). If this were a hiking trail I'd rate it as moderate in difficulty, so be aware you will be jostled around quite a bit and you will likely feel just a tad sore the next day as you're describing your adventure to others with a smile that you're unable to wipe off your face. While the course presents a worthy challenge, the buggies they provide are well suited for the task (and an excellent helmet and goggles are provided to all adventurers). We signed up for this on an open afternoon on our trip to Whistler. Stopped by the storefront in the Village near the gondola station and the staff there was informative, patient and very helpful. We did the 3-hour buggy adventure with Kyle as our guide. We had a BLAST! So much fun! Kyle kept us safe, but took us through some fun trails through amazingly beautiful country. We switched drivers a couple of times and got soaked on the final creek crossing - but Kyle got some awesome photos of it and we loved every minute of it. We'll be back! read more

They made sure everyone was safe, having fun and listened to any concerns someone may have had. If we ever get the chance to go back to Canada we want to return and do the advanced tour! I loved how we would stop and talk and they would tell a little history/ facts along the way. We were also on the hunt for the Grizzly that's been spotted in the area which was exciting! We booked the Sproatt steak night by snowmobile, and it turned out to be one of those unforgettable, once in a life time experiences you talk about long after the trip is over. Alfie, our guide, was incredible from start to finish. I can not praise him enough! The weather conditions weren't ideal- drizzly rain and rough terrain- but he handled everything with total confidence and care. He was especially patient helping this Texas native get the hang of a snowmobile which made all the differance to me and my kids. The cabin was perfectly warm, cozy and inviting, and the dinner did not disappoint. If you're looking for a unique, memorable experience, I can't recommend this enough. My mom and I went on the snowshoeing with the sauna. It was an incredible experience, gorgeous scenery, and the sauna was clean. Our guide, Melanie, was truly exceptional. She had so much knowledge about our surroundings, making sure to share about all of the native plants and wildlife we came in contact with. We all felt that we were truly apart of the nature because of her. We were in a small group of four, so it felt fairly intimate which I preferred. Would definitely recommend this experience, but if you have your own snow boots I would recommend bringing those because the ones they have there may not be comfortable/right size. read more

Be weary and make sure you're okay with not getting refunded in the event of an emergency before you purchase. Unfortunately fractured some ribs on the slopes 2 days before our snow mobile tour - our group of 18 would go down to 16 (my girlfriend didn't want to go since I couldn't). They didn't want to refund me at all even with a medical waiver (policy is 3 days - not 2). They instead wanted to give me credit for another tour (I won't be able to come back for the foreseeable future as I live in the Southeast U.S.A.) and make me pay full price for my girlfriend's trip because she isn't injured. We were the only two in the group who were sharing a snow mobile so you think it would've been easy to just take it off the bill. You'd think you'd get some grace with a group as big as ours and the fact that my ribs are literally fractured. read more

We had a snowcat tour booked for New Years Ève going up to the Crystal Hut for fondue. Part of our group got delayed due to ski lessons etc. They were 8 minutes late. The tour left at 4:38. As they were getting off the bus at Whistler Village the group was getting on the bus to go to the Snowcat. Ironically from where our group just came from Our group missed bus and our entire NYE was ruined. I understand we should not have been late however the manager of Canadian Wilderness Adventures could not have been more hateful and less willing to come up with a solution for our group. My daughter was devastated. I feel that if I were the manager or owner I would have been more accommodating by trying to come up with another solution for our party. Maybe even suggesting that they meet at the bus rather than running down to miss the entire group. She was so incredibly rude and did not care at all that our night was ruined and it honestly put a damper on our entire trip We booked a snowmobiling tour with them and it was subpar at best This was thousands of dollars spent at Canadian Wilderness Adventures. Not one dollar refunded. Not even trying to help us with any other solutions. The bus had literally just left but no one cared I write this review to let everyone know if you are going to invest thousands of dollars in your vacation and trip planning I would recommend going with a company that values customer service. My bf and I did the snowmobile tour last weekend and it was SO. MUCH. FUN. Neither of us had driven a snowmobile before, but the instructions from our guide Brock were clear and simple (and confidence-inspiring) -- so we were underway and on the trail in no time at all. Got to go fast, learn body positioning, practice tight turns and downslopes, and see some really beautiful backcountry. Brock was the best: Enthusiastic and encouraging, and happy to answer any questions about the snowmobile and the terrain. He even volunteered to take some really fun pics of us on the bikes. Great company and staff. I took the 3hr snowmobile wilderness tour and had Brock as a tour guide who was great!. I had a few questions before the tour started and response time was within 5-10 mins or so by email which was fantastic by Linda. Only suggestion I have is they try and group experienced riders in groups a bit better, and beginners in groups to have a more enjoyable experience for the various levels. We had a lot of time eaten up with people learning super basic riding skills while our tour had an almost even split with skilled riders vs. non skilled by show of initial hands but they randomly drew the names so everyone had to lean the basics which seemed to eat too much time into the actual tour. Besides that though everything was awesome! Fantastic photo opp's as well. Highly recommend the tour! read more

An excellent ATV experience with our guide Brock. It was a beautiful trail and he made sure that all of us had a great experience including rotating the order of riders and taking pictures at the best spot. Also explained how life was in whistler. An excellent guide and worthy experience. They even lent me a GoPro mount that I had forgotten to make this evenly more memorable. Having tried ATVs in Mexico, this is a whole other level of quality. I booked this several weeks before our Whistler trip and my wife was a bit skeptical since she had never been on a ATV before. But she was wrong! James our nice instructor taught us how to drive, stop and go on the ATV and helped us feel very safe. We went up 6,000 feet up Blackcomb Mt where they had a 4 course salmon bake ready for us. OUT OF THIS WORLD. They had a musician playing music, the sun went down, the views were beautiful, and the staff was beyond generous. My wife said at the end that it was the best adventure she had ever been on, that's how amazing this was. You will not regret any part of this adventure. read more

Made a last minute reservation to do the ATV for intermediate riders. You meet up in Grouse Mountain and they will drive you to a remote area for the ATV ride. They provide a helmet, mask, and ATV. Our instructor, Brock, was very patient with me, as I was a little nervous. He showed us a quick warm up and drills and off we went. The ride was about 2 hours and we go through the dusty terrain to the top of the mountain and then through some small puddles. It was a pretty good ride and easy ride. Had a great time and would do it again, if in the area! read more

We went snowmobiling in the Canada back country. Absolutely gorgeous and picturesque views. Guides were very knowledgeable and attentive to the guests needs. A very unique and once in a life time experience. The only downside was the cold. We are talking about -25 with the arctic freeze that occurred. Layer as much as possible and use toe and finger warmers. The snowmobile has heated handles which at full heat, felt like your fingers were burning. Worth it!!!! read more

What a blast! I Recommend for fun times 4X4 & Alpine photos! My first time Jeep tour! I would highly recommend it to anyone, especially if you love photography - the views are phenomenal. It's great if you want to experience the Alpine with a unique perspective. Our guide Nate was AWESOME!! He took us all over Blackcomb in search of wildflowers, bears, & views - he made sure to get us up above the clouds (over 6000ft/1830m elevation)! He even had a little step up stool to assist folks to load into the Jeep, it's a big step up. Nate took a selfie with my camera - I found it later haha. This is a safe, professional company to book with. I have done a few tours with them over the years. Do it do it do it! The only reason I am giving this three stars is because of Georgia. She did an amazing job as our guide, otherwise this was going to be a one star review. We picked this tour because it was going to be three hours, rather than a lot of the two hour tours advertised around Whistler, and you pay much more for this one. I would say read the fine print but there was none. You only ride for an hour. That's it. The other two hours is check in and transport on their bus and it says nowhere on there that is what happens. Also if you are going to slap us with extras, just add it to your tour price, don't do a "this is the price but plus plus plus". Very deceptive company. Stay away and do one of the actual two hours on the machine tours. read more

Had the best time on the ATVs with a fun and great group of guides. The trails were fun and easy for beginners but super fun. You get to decide how wet you get by going faster or slower through water. Beautiful views and a great time. The Jeep tour that we did the next day was the highlight of our trip. Our guide, Sasha, was super nice and excited with a story about everything we saw. Going up the mountain we saw a couple of bears and the best views of the valley ever. You could see everything for miles. So many beautiful pictures and once you keep climbing you can see snow up there and the rivers of it melting back down. Hands down best tour we've been on. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to see amazing mountain and valley views. read more
