When Caroline put up her review of this new charity shop, I was genuinely excited! I love charity shops and am a huge fan of the British Heart Foundation, but it's great to have a choice (more than one) in the City Centre!
This Cancer Research shop is housed on Corporation Street, just up from Urban Outfitters and opposite New Look/Superdrug. It's a smart looking building (which I had never really noticed before) and would have walked right past if it wasn't for the board outside the shop!
As Caroline has said in her review, one of the things I liked the most about the layout was that many of the items are arranged into colour, then size. As I wear mostly black (99% of my wardrobe is black), it saved me some time going through multiple rails just to root out the dark coloured garments. Saying that, they had some lovely dresses in all sorts of colours and many really lovely quality items (like a evening dress with a shrug) from as little as £7.
They also had a good range of DVD box sets and I noted popular series (E.G. House) for around £5. They didn't have as many books as I would have liked, but they have just opened so they may expand this area later on down the line. As well as second hand items, they also had a few new items to look through as well.
I'm yet to see if I will end up preferring this over BHF, but I do approve of the smart layout of the shop. Only time will tell - so watch this space! read more
