This field is by far one of my favorites. Not only with bright lights (although some of them…read morealways seem to not be working) but it has a great quality pitch with fake grass (the base is a mixture of sand and turf). Now, I have to be honest, I am not really sure if the field has a name. I have asked everyone who I play with (even the director of the workshop who works with the municipality) and they also don't know but it is easy to find. Located 15 minutes from the Grecia metro and just two blocks from the Rodrigo de Araya round-about, this field is owned by the municipality of Ñuñoa and is free! There are actually 2 fields available only a few blocks from one another and they are both well maintained and free (I know I just said it, but it's such a good deal I wanted to repeat). With a group of friends, we train and play on the field together with a coach who we have helped organize the first free women's soccer workshop in the area. We currently train Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8pm to 10pm - it is free for anyone to join! The coach also has free workshops for guys as well, where kids from ages 7 to 14 train. For those that don't want to use the field there is a playground for kids as well as "machines" for adults to workout on and a dirt path around the field if you feel inspired to run. You can contact the municipality to reserve the field, although usually the people who live close by just come around and use it on a first-come-first-served basis type of thing. Tip: Go to the bathroom before you come because there are no facilities close-by and bring a large bottle of water because there is no water fountain. It is not in the best neighborhood, so if you are coming at night be cautious with your belongings.

I visited the Soccer Store in April when I was in town. I bought a CDUC jersey and shorts. I was…read moreimpressed by the selection and thought the prices were good (for a US native). I pad USD$50 for the jersey and $25 for the shorts. The guy working the store, ostensibly the owner, was a great guy and talked to me about Santiago soccer. I also enjoyed his Iron Maiden shirt and the heavy metal music being played in the background. If the Soccer Store ever gets new Union Espanola stuff and was willing to ship to the US, I'd be interested in buying one. Would definitely visit again if/when I'm back in STGO.
