Stopped by Cane Rosso after the Big Tex beer fest @ fair park. This is the OG location that was featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive Ins, & Dives. When you arrive, parking is tricky as the restaurant in located in Deep Ellum. I would recommend parking by the Deep Ellum brewery and walking over. When you enter the restaurant, you can smell the pizza and see the chefs preparing pizzas. We ordered the Caprese Chop salad (Baby heirloom tomatoes, ciligiene, arugula, red onion, pesto, balsamic) and the Honey Bastard pizza (Housemade mozzarella, hot soppressata, bacon marmalade, habanero honey) which are so good that you'll want to order more. Food is 5 stars all the way! Pizza is so good the crust is thin but crisp on the edges but heart and full of flavor and texture .. the toppings are premium fresh and so good .. I do like ordering the crust made crispy as the bottom can be a bit soft otherwise and I prefer it to have a bit of crispy on the bottom.. The fried nuggz are insane!! So good little squares filled with creamy mozzarella cheese sprinkled with fresh Parmesan and served with marinara .. one of the best things I have tasted. The chopped SALAD!! Oh my heaven on earth the CAPRA is one of the best salads I have ever had! Mixed greens, cherries . It's so so good you must try! So if I had to change anything I would just spiff up the atmosphere and make the seating a bit more comfy .. Had dinner here on a quiet Wednesday night. We had a large group and the restaurant was able to accommodate us without difficulty. We ordered appetizers to share, including the crispy Brussels and nuggz. Everything was very good. We also each got an entree. Okay let me preface this that I have been going to this exact location for awhile now....so you'd think my review would be higher right? Well. I recently moved away and came back for a visit while I was on break, where do I want to go? Cane Rosso. We get there and the restaurant is completely empty, which is weird for a saturday evening. Normally we'd have to fight tooth and nail for a table at the time we went. I was first shocked with the complete menu change; they got rid of the spicy chicken pasta which was our favorite. Whatever, it's fine. We order the cacio e pepe, caesar salad, spinach dip, and spaghetti and meatballs. Our server kept disappearing and was honestly slow, which was sad. The salad comes out first, so salty?? Like egregiously salty. Then the spinach dip was so bland after that. The cacio e pepe tasted like it was drenched in water, and the marina lacked any flavor and the meatballs were hard. Ended up going home with a terrible stomach ache the entire night. Super disappointed and hope they fix something. For now, STEER CLEAR. I hate saying this as a younger person because normally i understand, but for the price they're selling everything at it's just not worth the 50 dollars or so we ended up spending. The Honey Bastard from Cane Rosso is my favorite pizza of all time. Anytime I hear of someone going to the DFW area, Cane Rosso and that pie are my top recommendations. This particular location was more than a little disappointing on a recent visit to the area. The restaurant was so empty when I walked up that I thought they were closed. I walked in and asked the host if they were still open, and she said the kitchen was open for 2 more hours. There were maybe 3-4 other tables occupied in the whole place. The service was really terrible to the point of being almost non-existent. I have no clue where the server would disappear to, but it would be 5-10 minutes between even sightings of her, let alone her stopping by. On top of that, she'd forget things and have to come back and ask again what I wanted or what I was drinking. I really hate flagging down my server or asking other people who aren't my server for things like the check or more water, but I had to do both on this visit. The pizza was still spot on, and I enjoyed every bite of it. This would be a total 1/5 review based on service and the vibe of the place on the night I went, but the pizza is so good and so worth it, I'm giving 3/5. read more

One of the best fire cooked pizzas I've had. The options are endless when it comes to toppings and the drinks are tasty. Some of the apps are a little weird, they come out with chips? It threw me off because it is an Italian restaurant and I'm Just not sure where the chips fit in. We were able to ask our waitress for bread instead and they brought it out no problem. This was our second time at a Cane Rossi, but the first at this specific location. Let me just start this review by saying that the food is delicious and the pesto is amazing, quite possibly the best I've ever had. Five out of five on the food scale. This should be a 5-star review, however our server was subpar. It was after 8:00 so the restaurant wasn't very busy, there were several tables, but plenty of open spots. We were seated in what I assume is the bar area up front (not at the bar), so the bartender was our server. She stopped by and took our drink order right away, I hadn't chosen a drink yet, so my boyfriend ordered a beer. When she returned with the beer she just dropped it and walked off as I was starting to order a cocktail. Then she disappeared for a while. Once she came back I placed my drink order, we shared a pizza and split it 1/2 honey bastard 1/2 Sellout. We also ordered the Caprese starter. She didn't write our order down or repeat it back to us. Then went to the table next to us to take their order. The pizza was delivered quickly and came out at the same time as our neighboring table. No Caprese. We gave it a bit to show, realizing the pizza came from the wood fire pizza oven and the Caprese from the kitchen. After a bit I inquired. It quickly became clear she had forgotten to ring it in. My boyfriend ordered a second beer, they were out of his first choice, so he went with something else, it never ended up arriving so we just tabbed out. None of this was a big deal, just more of an annoyance than anything. The place was relatively clean, the ladies bathroom had a slight odor. I would recommend this place, the food is amazing. This was my first time dining in at Cane Rosso. For an appetizer we got the fried mugs. They were so good that we finished then before I even blinked. I actually decided to get a pasta today, since I remember years ago being surprised by how good their pasta is. I NEVER order pasta from restaurants because they always disappoint. I guess I'v had too many homemade pastas that restaurants can't compare. What I love most is that they do Al dente perfectly! And the sauce is so flavorful without being too salty. I tried the ziti ala Bolognese which had surprise bits of brisket in it, and it was delicious. Since it was my first time eating there, I was able to discover their crushed red pepper. I don't know what it is they do exactly, maybe because it's finely crushed , but it's so aromatic and more flavorful than most. To drink I got the Blanco menu, which has interesting flavor profile because of the ginger and the ancho reyes verde (green chili). It sounds like a lot, but surprisingly I would order it again. If you like anything spicy or if you like ginger beer, than you would like this drink. Overall I a great experience. The only reason I gave them one less star is because the amount of time it took for my pasta come out compared to when the pizza we ordered came out. read more

The woodfired pizza is delicious and authentic, and the pizza cooks in a flash in the 900 degree oven, so you don't have to wait long.
