Again a place I hadn't been to in close to twenty years. It is situated high above Ponte the Lima…read moreat the top of the Madalena mountain, so you need to take a taxi to get there. They re-opened recently and have a bar downstairs and a restaurant upstairs. The views over the valley and of the sun going down over the Minho is as breathtaking as ever, and this time, the food is great. I actually did not order a starter but got four: grilled pineapple chunks with blood sausage (excellent), a small omelet, olives and dried meat. Followed by a succulent octopus arm that had simmered in the oven to perfection. The crema de leite was OK, as was the quarter of alvarinho which they graciously provided (normally, it's by the bottle). All this cost me 23.50 EUR and of course, the price of the taxi.
The day of my visit, I was all alone. It looks like foreigners don't know this place. It certainly deserves a visit and I wish them all the luck!
