I for some reason was thinking that I was getting a beet ravioli. Either way, it was SO good. SUPER heavy and filling but good. Good enough that I was tempted to go back another day for more but with the limited time we had in the area, I wanted to try other places. My husband had the spinach and pecorino (?) ravioli that is native to that area in a butter sauce. They were good too but mine was better! LOL. We shared the chocolate salami for dessert. It was drier and dense but good-more his thing than mine. I think it had small pieces of bread in it or cake. Not overly sweet or rich. I would definitely return here. I have already been trying to find a recipe for the beet dumplings - they were that good! This place won't disappoint.

They then brought out a cold octopus salad- nothing I would have ever ordered but thanks to this experience, I will be in the future! I had the osso bucco with risotto, which was a special that day. It was good but I've had better. My husband had house made pasta with lobster. He also thought it was good, but not great. We then shared the dessert buffet. There was tiramisu, different varieties of chocolate and cookies as well as a berry cream dish and profiteroles in a chocolate sauce. Though I would only rate most of the food as good to very good, I think the variety, service and setting really made it a great experience.

Their executive chef Albin Widmann treats you with traditional Ladin and South Tyrolean as well as Mediterrenean dishes. The wine menu presents over 400 local and international varieties. They have daily speciality menus as well as an a la cart menu. The restuarant also offers a salad bar, cheese and pastry buffet. The chestnut soup with truffle and the calf cheek are especially good. They also brought us a cold-cut meat plate, grilled shrimps and an assortment of sweets and chocolates on the house. Every plate comes as a piece of art work. The service was quick and efficient. The restaurant looks so cute and cosy, the staff is very attentive and really friendly - not a given in Italy! The food was amazingly good and homemade. The prices - compared to what we ordered - were very reasonable. As we come to South Tyrol every year for skiing, I am sure, we will come back to the Adlerkeller as well!

Although our hotel did call ahead for a reservation, there was some confusion as the amount of English-language comprehension here is substantially lower than other places we had been to in the area. This spot features as an après-ski lounge in the winter, and it's easy to see how this is the case, with low wooden ceilings, a very lodge-like feel, and animal furs (real or fake? I'm not sure) lining the seats, even in August. Despite the langugae barrier, we were able to get our food and drink order in easily enough, and everything was brought out quite quickly. The menu was multilingual, making it easy for us to figure out what to order. The drink selection includes cocktails, beers, and wine; the cocktails are pretty standard, if nothing special (my caipirinha was way too sweet), while the beer selection was limited...wine was likely the better choice. For food, we kept it simple (as did the menu - I did not see anything other than pizzas listed)...3 pies to share amongst everyone. All of the pies were fantastic; I would say my favorite was probably the porcini mushroom pie, which kept it simple with tomato, mozzarella and the aforementioned fungi. The mushrooms were pungent (in a good way) and infused a lot of flavor into each bite. The buffalo mozzarella pizza (which also was topped with sliced cherry tomatoes and basil) was delicious as well; the blotches of the creamier mozzarella stood out against the base mozzarella. The house pizza 'La Sieia' was probably my least favorite, largely because it had a bit too much on it (onions, garlic, pepperoni, ham). It was a bit like a generic 'supreme' pizza from America, and although the flavors were good, there was too much happening at the same time. The crust was very thin on each pie, but it meant that we did not get stuffed eating carbs...a good thing in my book. While the 'lounge' aspect (i.e. drinks) may not be its forte, La Sieia does an excellent job with their pizzas on balance, with the simpler ones being plenty delicious on their own. If you are looking for a good pie in town, this is definitely a place to check out.

We shared two pizzas: the margherita (to sample the "baseline," so to speak) and one with arugula, parmesan, and dried beef. Both had delicious crispy, floury crusts and the right ratios of all ingredients. If you're looking for pizza in the Corvara region, you can't go wrong here! Menus and service available in Italian, German, and English (maybe more languages--we didn't ask, though!).

They have a range of pizza, pasta and meat dishes and all are excellent and not overly priced. The pizzas are particularly good and they have some topping mixes that aren't to be found in other pizzerias in the area. The service is always good and the place seems to be usually staffed by southern Italians so it has an authentic feel to the place.
