We purchased two paintings from this charming little gallery. They have a wide selection of paintings in various sizes; real paintings not screen prints. The prices are really good and we were able to select our frame, which is included in the price. We received a discount off the already sale price for being new customers. CP, the manager, was very warm and welcoming. He was personable and took the time to get to know us, asked our names, where we were from, etc. He was very helpful in showing us different sizes, frame styles and other similar paintings that we may like. I didn't have a great experience and honestly feel the need to warn people about this product. If you stroll down the mall there are other art galleries, with similar sized originals and prints going for quite literally 100x more than the items here. A cautious shopper should wonder why that is. Upon entering, I noticed that these items appeared mass produced, as if a shop in China just cranked them out. Look closely and you'll see the same barn and silo over and over, with simply different color schemes and seasons around it. I asked the salesperson "Where do your artists come from? Are they local?" And she replied "oh they're from all over." Interesting... vague... so I pointed to a piece "Can you tell me about this artist?" and she replied "I think my brother-in-law painted that one." A joke? But again a curious deflection. Reading these Yelp reviews makes me raise my eyebrow even higher. "50%-70% off" seems to be an ongoing, continuous sale for the past 5+ years. One reviewer pointed out that she received an additional discount for being a new customer. Another for being a return customer. This isn't art. This is tacky. Ask any artist. Stroll down the mall into the other galleries and see what real art looks like, and how real galleries interact with customers. The goal of Cape May Art Gallery is in volume - to get people to buy as much of this faux art as possible to make a profit. My husband and I had a lovely time browsing around the gallery. We came down for the weekend without our kids and really had time to check out all the art, ask questions, chit chat with the gallery owners/workers and it was just fabulous. Can't wait to come back! read more

Sunday - June 24, 2012 - 8 pm I'll never claimed to be an art aficionado however, I've purchased several paintings. Last year, I purchased three water-themed paintings with frames. Today, I purchased two paintings of grapes with various fruit. I cannot wait to place on the wall. The half-price enticement didn't hurt. The frames were included with the painting. I received an additional discount because the store employee recognized me as a return customer. I don't believe she recognized me but, a discount is a discount - I ain't proud! I've received compliments on the paintings from friends and family. My usually taciturn father offered compliments. Believe me, that's HUGE! I plan to purchase additional paintings. The paintings there are displayed nicely so you can get the view you want when you walk into a little, Cape May gallery. I've visited it each year for the past 4 years since they have the best service to us and will help us choose the painting and frame we wanted! He can even give discounts on art paintings you if it looks like you are enjoying his shop. Lovely small studio with reasonable prices. The only downside was the store associate who all and sudden started to use an f word ringing people in front of me out saying that she f*ing hate this place and people won't leave her alone and she wants to go home. She started crying then and apologizing for her breakdown. She might have been tipsy wouldn't surprise me. She than started complaining to me that she has to work there 12 hours straight and that she hates that job. On a recent Cape May get away with my wife we wandered into this quaint little store, The owners are really on top of there game here, there isn't some college kid sitting there playing with there I-phone as you browse. On the contrary, you are warmly greeted but not in an overly aggressive pushy way, you would have thought we were purchasing thousands of dollars worth of fine art with the way we were serviced, they discussed with us what rooms we were shopping for, the style of the home, our tastes preferences and current room colors. it was great, they were so helpful and not the least bit pushy, the prices are fair, great selection, we purchased a painting and had it framed while we waited. The experience was all positive and more then we expected, just wish they were located on Long Island so we could go back more often, lol. read more
