I went here last week to get my dogs yearly shots. Turns out that my vet moved away, and now I have a new vet. I felt like I had to re explain everything that my last vet learned in the past year. I was really disappointed that she was gone. After the inital exam, my doctor noticed some facial lumps on my dogs face and ended up diagnosing him with canine acne. She prescribed antibiotics and told me to pick up an acne creme for him. I was shocked when I was sitting at home reading the bill and I found out that the antibiotics cost me almost $80! One of the things I loved about my previous vet was that she always made me away of the financials. I was really annoyed to find out that I paid $80 for (essentially) acne medication.

DON'T TAKE YOUR PETS THERE! update to all fur parents !!!!! ATTENTION ALL FUR PARENTS!! This is the cold hearted response I got from the "manager " of this hospital. Please do not take your fur baby there! Ame way 3 years old and 8 months and went in for up to date shots, she ended up passing away from this! and they take no blame in it. They offered me half of my 120 appt i paid refund so 60 dollars to TAKE DOWN THIS POST! So below is from them. When i asked for the entire refund for the 400 bloodwork and the 735 ct scan the doctor suggested as a good fur mom to do! I will be your sole point of contact regarding this matter from the clinic side. I can also forward your emails to Dr. Bouclin, as she was the veterinarian involved in your pet’s care. In order for us to properly review your concerns, we require all of the requested documentation and information.( She has only been in their care, they have all the documentions) Once we have received the complete documentation, we will be able to begin our formal review process. Until that review is completed, we are unable to comment further on your requests. ( They are the ones who did all the bloodwork, ct scans the vaccation etc)!!!! More from them!!! We had requested any additional information that could assist with further review, including a post-mortem report, previous bloodwork, urinalysis, or other veterinary records related to Amy's health decline. At this time, no additional medical documentation has been provided to support the concern that Amy's death was related to the care/vaccination provided at our clinic. You requested a full refund for the bloodwork, ultrasound, and vaccination appointment. We have reviewed the concerns raised in your email, along with Amy's records from our clinic. As previously advised by the attending veterinarian, based on the information available to us, we are unable to conclude that any care provided at our clinic caused harm to Amy or contributed to her death. The bloodwork and ultrasound were recommended, discussed, and completed with your consent as part of assessing Amy's medical condition at the time of her visit. As the services were authorized and completed, the related fees are non-refundable as per clinic policy. Therefore, there is no basis for us to further escalate the matter or reconsider reimbursement of the diagnostic fees. As discussed during our phone call on Friday, the clinic will provide a $60 goodwill refund, representing 50% of the May 20 vaccination appointment fee. This is being provided as a courtesy and is not an admission of fault or responsibility. Thank you for confirming that you will remove the public review. Once it has been removed, please reply to this email confirming this, and we will proceed with the agreed e-transfer. To ensure that all communication is properly documented, we ask that any further communication regarding this matter be sent by email. ( This was in regards to them refunding the 1135 dollars that doctor suggested I do as a good fur mom) Please forward the requested documents at your earliest convenience so that we can proceed with our assessment.

I'm not intending to malign with this review, simply asking that you please consider the other options before you spend too much money here for the same result. My cat wasn't eating or drinking - and it turned out she had pancreatitis. CTPH gets one extra star because they recommended the right medication to heal my cat. When I brought my cat in and she was diagnosed, they presented me with the first bill (900$+). I then broke down in tears because I'm a server and a student, and there is no way I can afford this without going into debt...So my cat is going to die? That's basically the reaction I had. The veterinarian then said directly that if I couldn't afford veterinary fees then perhaps I should contemplate not owning animals. Then he said that he'd see what he can do about bumping the cost down. The vet returned with the second bill (380$) and again, I received the message that due to my inability to pay for all the treatments, that my cat would be getting "subpar" care (vet's words). Implicit in this statement is that, because I'm low income, I cannot properly care for my cat. I left, I treated her in a "subpar" way, and guess what: she's well again and thriving. I didn't need any of that extra stuff. For example- day hospitalization. 52$... I just had to stay an extra hour while she had tests completed. Tell me again: Which option shows more care for the cat? TL;DR the CTPH are slick, which might lead you to think that paying upwards of 1000$ per visit makes you a good and caring pet owner. Almost a year later - I've been going to The Mill Creek Animal hospital for my pet's needs (two cats and two visits so far) and they have been outstanding in terms of integrity, cost, and compassion. I waited to post this negative review because I still didn't know what an honest veterinarian looked like in Edmonton. Please consider the other options before you spend too much money here for the same result. Even just call on the phone and compare prices, you'll see.

In July, I took my female cat to the clinic for a spaying procedure. I had previously taken my male…read morecat there and had a great experience, so I expected the same this time. However, before the surgery, the doctor handled my cat poorly, making her fearful and jumpy. He almost slammed the cage door onto her paw and mishandled her. During the surgery, concerns arose when they found kittens inside her. The doctor called and asked if they should proceed; we declined. When I picked her up later, the staff informed me about the situation and mentioned that an "x-ray" had shown 5 kittens, with one being stillborn. Upon seeing her shaved belly after the surgery, it was clear her nipples were enlarged, indicating potential pregnancy. Shouldn't they have taken steps to confirm her pregnancy before surgery? It seemed like they were more interested in making money. My cat suffered, and I'm upset and feel guilty about what happened. Last night, she gave birth to 3 kittens, with the first one born around midnight and the other two a couple of hours later. Luna and her kittens seem fine now. It's currently 9:16 am, and it's been 6 hours without any more kittens appearing. When I called the clinic, the person on the phone stuttered and told me there was no x-ray done. They noticed 4 kittens in Luna's belly, not 5. I'm furious and disappointed. When I asked if I should bring her in for help, the clinic worker wasn't helpful and gave me a list of ERs to call. I tried each one, but none could take us in. I'm extremely upset with this situation and would only recommend this place with female doctors, not the male doctor who mishandled my cat. I've been awake for 24 hours, and I'm feeling overwhelmed and upset.

It's been a very long time since I've had to have a pet spayed (last several cats were purebreads…read moreand came to us already neutered). Anyways, I originally booked through my regular vet clinic and was quoted between $500-$600 (I don't recall the exact number). Decided to do some research, not specifically related to a cheaper fee but just figured that who better to do the surgery than a spay clinic when they do these surgeries all day/every day and are likely to be much more experienced at them. I read the reviews and was pleasantly surprised, especially since I'm located on the north side, this location is excellent for me. I called in to book, there was a several week wait but I was able to pre-book. Left my $50 booking deposit which I was a little leary of but everything worked out great. Bella's (cat) spay went perfectly well. Her incisions were minimal and neat and tidy. She was back to her self the very next morning and didn't seem bothered by her surgery at all. We paid $325 in total which included her pre-surgery blood work (optional), IV fluids during surgery (optional but suggested), pain meds during surgery plus after surgery pain meds (2 days worth, again optional but recommended). I opted out of getting the cone. We decided to buy one at Pet Smart which we will now return as it wasn't needed as Bella was really good about licking (to be honest, they did such a great job with the surgery, there were no exposed stitches or anything for her to chew or pull on anyways). All in all, we're extremely impressed with the surgery, how well Bella has done. We did keep her in our master bedroom for 1 week post op to reduce her movements but she was hopping up on our bed and night table and getting around just fine on the morning of day 2. You'd never know she had a major surgery other than for a few hours after the surgery she was pretty wobbly and groggy. We saved a nice chunk of money, but most importantly, she got great care and did so much better than I remember my last female cat doing (incision was massive in that day and age). Really pleased with this clinic, they called to give us an update on the day of her surgery, we picked her up earlier than expected, we even spoke with the Vet because we called with a few questions about her blood work, the vet answered all of my questions and put my mind at ease that all was good with her bloodwork. Received a follow up call 3 days post-op to check on how Bella was doing and how her incision looked. I highly recommend this clinic. They were great to deal with every step of the way and the prices were much more reasonable than our regular vet clinics price. Also, FYI Bella was approx. 7 months old at the time of her spay surgery, if this helps anyone else. It was suggested (by our regular vet clinic) that we do it before the springtime when cat's typically go into heat, but not earlier than 6 months of age.

Zelda seemed anxious her first appointment (which she is when she first enters any new space), but quickly wanted to go home with every staff member who offered her treats (even after they gave her shots). She's seen both Dr. McLachlan and Dr. Knapp-Miller. All of the staff seem to genuinely care about animals and I always appreciate a good balance between holistic and western medicine. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, I've only been in with Zelda for her appointments once and the space seemed clean, calm and spacious. The comments and questions let me know the staff are getting to know Zelda and trying to get to the root of potential issues (like my sweet girl being disgusting and eating her poop) rather than just treating the symptoms. I had new pet owner worries between appointments and it was nice to get to speak to a vet tech between appointments to let me know when to worry and when something just seemed like normal puppy stuff.

Their comfort and care during the last 7 weeks of her life is something I've eternally grateful for. After the many weeks of alternative pet care including herbal formulas as well as traditional methods and the use of acupuncture, my best friend of 19 years was put down. She simply did not want to be a lone cat of the house any longer. the last moments were quite well handled. We were led into a room that had been lovingly prepared, lit with a candle and aromatherapy. We were allowed to settle in and then have as much time as we wanted after the end of life procedure. We were not rushed and I felt like I could spend as much time as I wanted after she was gone. I really appreciated that. I realize I've said nearly nothing about their actual care, but just how we experienced the last moment but if I can relay to you their caring and understanding, then I hope I've done that. I never really knew there were holistic animal care options with my first cat, and I'll do whatever I can share this business and these people with whomever i can.
