I was riding my bike around the canals of Berlin during my day off, and I came across Capital Beaches. They had a chill remix of the song "Crazy" by Gnarls Barclay, which is what made me decide to stop. I parked my bike and sat down on the couch and was handed a menu. However the waiter who handed me the menu did not come back for a while and another waiter stopped to take my order. I asked him if they had orange soda. He said they didn't but suggested that I get an ice-chocolate. I looked at it on the menu, listed for 3.80 euro, and agreed to get it. Then the original waiter stopped by about 5 mins later to ask what I would like. I mentioned that I had already ordered an ice chocolate, but but asked about whether they have orange soda. This time he said yes, that they do have it. So I requested if it was not too late to cancel the ice chocolate and replace it with the orange soda, which he pointed me to on the menu, and was listed for 2.90 (the menu was in German). This waiter agreed to the change, and I was happy that I was going to get what I was originally there for. Then I was approached by a grumpy white-haired waiter, whose name is Peter. I had not interacted with him before, but he yelled at me and said something about cancelling the ice-chocolate. Then to my surprise he yelled "Shaiza". I believe this is "shit" in German. This guy was a total buzz-kill. Who need's negative energy like that on a vacation? While I should have just got up and left then, this new guy, Peter, comes to deliver my Orange soda. He asks me to pay upfront, and demands 3.80 euro. In a friendly way, I reminded him that the orange soda was listed for 2.90, but he immediately reproached me for having made him lost money on the white chocolate and stated that I must therefore have to pay 3.80. When I refused he took the orange soda back and returned and asked for 2.90. I paid him the 2.90, and then realized that the orange soda was now half the size and in a tiny plastic cup. This is supposed to be a high-end bar, but I had received my drink in a cheap 1-cent plastic cup that you would receive to sample drinks in a developing country. The original waiter saw this and gave me a real glass, but the size of the drink remained the same. Apart from the original waiter, the staff seems very stingy and their unhappiness is reflected in the kind of service they provide. If you want to enjoy your vacation. I would stay far away from Peter and this place. read more
