Several years ago we came home from visiting next door at around 10 pm to have our front door lock come apart instead of unlocking the door. We called these folks and they came right away. After getting us in the house and realizing the current lock had had all the fun it could stand, the young man quoted a reasonable price for a new digital lock (considering the time of night and the lock being in stock). He had to go back to the shop to get the new digital lock and then had to drill a bigger hole for the lock which was an adventure itself. It was well after midnight before he finished up and I certainly felt like the $300+ for everything was a bargain considering. That lock has worked wonderfully for us for the years since until recently when it either needs a new battery (which I have been too lazy to deal with) or something more complicated. Until I find the gumption to assail getting a new battery and replacing it, we have been using the key that came with the lock and the wife got tired of not having a key for her so I dropped in to get another key made. Nice fellow greeted me when I entered and about 5 minutes and $3.75 later I was headed back to my car. I have watched a passel of YouTube videos particular to our lock so I know that if the new battery doesn't solve the lock problem then I shall be removing the lock and bringing it to them to fix. The wife can stand guard at the house while I am gone. Meanwhile we both have a key to lock and unlock our front door. If you need a locksmith I can wholeheartedly recommend these folks. Capital City was so helpful in cutting a new key out of the shell my daughter already had for her old Lexus. They did so at an even cheaper price than they quoted over the phone. Michael did an excellent job! He showed up with a mask on, explained all costs up front, had the parts necessary for the job (we needed a new doorknob/lock), and was polite and friendly. I'm sure this isn't standard, they were here within 20 minutes of my call. They rekeyed two locks, replaced one, and the cost (with service fee/labor) was under $100. I received a fancy new keyless entry Schlage lock for my birthday and tried to install it myself...big mistake! Huge! The cheap builder grade lock in the door wasn't the same size, the door wasn't right...nothing was right. The lock literally fell apart when I removed it to get ready to install the shiny new one. Which then didn't fit. So I was pretty desperate when I called Capital City Locksmith. Not only did he arrive at my house in about an hour from when I called, he was super nice, and was able to address all the little odd quirks on my door in a speedy professional way. He even trained me on how to set the unlock code before he left! Now my new lock is in place, the deadbolt slides easy and the door feels super secure, and the cost for all this was super reasonable. I can't highly recommend this local family owned shop. The owners may benefit from customer and ethics training. I had a failure to communicate with the owner when I asked for a refund for a new key his wife and co-owner had cut but failed to properly program to electronically unlock the car. He told me that he would not refund the money, said it was my fault for bringing in a "Chinese" key blank, and creatively lied to the BBB when I filed a complaint. All for $55. I expect more creative fiction from Capital City Locksmith in their response to my comments. read more

Called Capital City Locksmith for a front door lock repair. Without my knowledge. interior of lock was repaired with duct tape. After a few weeks, front door knob was very loose. Called Capital City Locksmith to complain and I was told that the work is subcontracted and they do not guarantee the work. A few weeks later, the entire door knob fell off. I called Capital City again and was told I would receive a call from the owner. After not hearing back, I contacted Capital City Locksmith again and was told that it was past the 30 day work guarantee and they were unable to help me. Poor work and poor customer service. Would not recommend. read more
