I had an appointment for nexplanon removal. I had Dr. Christine Grisbach Smith. Admittedly, I was nervous based off reviews. On the contrary, I don't judge if I never had an experience. I want to emphasize I went for something different than most people as many are already pregnant etc. I am also not downplaying anyone's experience or how they felt. I'm simply writing about mine. She was super informative and kind to me. Her demeanor seemed more stern and strict, but I've lived more than 4 counties over the last 4 years in California and honestly, I've met doctors that are genuinely not genuine in their practice and genuinely don't care. Anyways, I had several questions and concerns. She explained in a professional manner and personally what her opinion was if she was me. There was no personal bias whatsoever. She weighed my options and gave me a couple minutes to actually decide. She talked me through the removal which was quick and painless. Overall great experience. Also, I genuinely mean almost all the staff said bye to me and had beautiful smiles lol. None of us know what happens behind anyone's closed doors, maybe they just caught certain people on their bad days; take everything with a grain of salt. I have never experienced such cold, unprofessional "care." I am 19 weeks pregnant and suffering from severe sciatica that radiates to my ankle. I spent my appointment crying and begging for the medical leave paperwork (Alight/FMLA) that I need to protect my job. My employer cannot accommodate my pain, and I am at risk of losing my livelihood. The NP (Christine) flatly refused to help, hiding behind an "office policy" that says they don't sign paperwork until 36 weeks. Not only is this policy a violation of California PDL law, but what she did next was even worse: She falsified my medical record. In my visit notes, she wrote that I "did not desire" a work note. This is a complete lie. I begged for it, and I even went back to the front desk after the appointment to ask a second time, only to be brushed off again. She also ignored my depression screening score of 19 (Severe) and wrote that I had a "normal mood" while I was sitting right in front of her sobbing. If you want a provider who follows the law and documents the truth, stay far away from this office. I had to go to Urgent Care immediately after just to get tests and blood pressure check which was raised because of this office idk if this office was too "busy" or "lazy" to handle correctly. read more

A lot of waiting here. I arrived 15 minutes early as requested, filled out the busywork/paperwork, and watched as people who arrived after me, get seen and leave. When I was finally called and dressed down for my exam, I waited another 20 plus minute to see the doctor. At least she didn't have to run off to make a delivery? It's relieving that the end of the tables are facing away from the door! There was a medical assistant with a laptop seemingly dictating everything; I hope I wasn't on camera! I began my care at Capital OB in the beginning of my second trimester with Dr. Melchione. At first I thought I was getting adequate care as this is my first pregnancy. I was scheduled for an induction but went into labor 4 days prior at 41 weeks. I had no idea what position my baby was in which led to an emergency c section. Every time I visited I waited over an hour to see my doctor, measure my belly and be on my way. Eighteen days after I gave birth my doctor recommended I get on birth control and made me feel like I didn't have much of a choice even though I wasn't even cleared for sex yet. He recommended nexplanon, I told him it had made me very depressed in the past. He said to try it anyway since I'm breastfeeding I couldn't take nuva rings. Didn't mention any other options, just said remove it if I don't like it when I'm done breastfeeding. My mood had been terrible and my arm hurt so bad. I got it removed today at planned parenthood where they informed me he inserted the implant in a location they haven't used in over five years due to reported nerve damage and ruptured veins. My doctor was appalled when she poked my implant and it hurt me. She validated me in saying she believed my care was rushed and my concerns were ignored. Safe to say I will never return to capital obgyn. read more

I truly wish I didn't have to write this, but I want other women to be aware. I've been trying to get in touch with Capitol OB-GYN in Sacramento about coordinating part of my upcoming hysterectomy. I'm in daily pain and was told I'd get a callback within 24 hours, then 48. It's now been well over 72 hours with no response, and this isn't the first time I've experienced silence when it matters most. What's worse: staff recognize me by my phone number, but still don't follow through. I've called multiple times over two weeks and still no clarity or scheduling support. I'm scared to go into a major procedure with a clinic that can't return pre-op calls. I understand that they are busy, but patient communication is part of good care--especially when surgery is on the line. If you're looking for an office that respects patient follow-up, I strongly recommend going elsewhere. read more

For my visit I seen Christina Grisbäche-smith and she was cold. Before I even spoke with her she looked so mean. Once I did speak with her it seemed that she had a bit of a passive attitude, you can feel it heavily from her. Not comfortable with her at all. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but once I searched for other reviews I saw another lady experienced that same exact feeling so that one visits was enough for me and will be seeing other providers. I don't know if she is racist hopefully not but I would not recommend her. Front desk was decent though! read more

My 18 months with Capital Ob/Gyn are done. The last straw was a last-minute cancellation of an appointment that I had waited 2 months for, and the next available appointment was another 2 months out. So in total, I would have to wait 4 months to see my doctor, assuming they didn't cancel the next appointment as well. They wouldn't allow me to see a different doctor, so I am completely out of luck. I've tolerated the office staff because I like my doctor, but they are not very organized and often not very friendly. They have repeatedly called to tell me that I need to make a follow up appointment when I already had one on the books, and they aren't very welcoming at the front desk. Read the other recent reviews! Lots of people have been having a challenging time with this organization. Steer clear if you want to save yourself a lot of time and unhappiness. read more

My boyfriend and I had an appointment on Wednesday 11/25/23 with Holly Bracy it was the worst experience ever. She refused to do her job and do an ultrasound saying that we had an ectopic pregnancy. Her job was to check the ultrasound and see if the hormones levels went up. Instead she be little both of us and said "well obviously you can get pregnant" now go back to the emergency room. After that we actually went to the ER. The ER doctor said "I don't know why Holly sent you guys here we aren't OBGYN and why did she do her job and check. Not to mention with an ectopic pregnancy the hormones levels go down not up. ER discharge us Wednesday because they said it's simply too early. A few days later we went to South Sacramento Kaiser, their radiologist did an ultrasound and said the sack is in the uterus and the hormone levels are still climbing high therefore the doctor said we DONT have ectopic pregnancy! And he doesn't know why Holly didn't check either. Her job was to check as even in a few days things do change, I asked about small fluid which was stated previously at Sutter health he said not concerning. What's concerning that Holly Bracy didn't do her due diligence as a doctor. In my opinion she should be reported to the medical board so they can reevaluate her licensing to ensure she provides proper care to her patients. She is by far the worst doctor I have encountered throughout this pregnancy and I will be making a report to the board about her. My insurance is paying you to do a job. So please do your job. I normally see Dr. Holly who I absolutely love and appreciate! I had to reschedule last minute which unfortunately landed me in the hands of NP Christine Grisbach Smith....... Her attitude, demeanor and overall how she handled the appointment was so disappointing coming from a "professional" she talked over me most of the time, questioned my choice that was agreed upon between my and my doctor to have an induction. Measured my belly, didn't tell me what she was doing next and when I go to pull my shirt down, rudely asked if I wanted to hear the heartbeat or not. Such an uncomfortable and stressful appointment being this late in the pregnancy at 35 weeks. This interaction lasted about 5 minutes, the most rushed appointment I have ever had and actually wish I never did and just waited to see my normal doctor who is graceful and understanding. I had to gather myself before leaving just totally taken back by this interaction with this lady who seemed just hateful and rude and it's my first time meeting her. A formal complaint has been submitted and I will definitely be requesting to never have her around me again. I feel bad for any patient who has had to deal with her in the past or has to deal with her in the future especially in such a vulnerable time. read more

My IUD experience here (at the Cadillac Dr location) was horrifying. I had an IUD put in to manage endometriosis and explained that I am very tender. The nurse was very kind and said she could get a numbing spray, which she did and I expressed that i very much wanted that to be used. PA Jessica Miller then came in and was a bit curt but answered my questions, but then started the procedure without using the numbing spray even though my partner and i asked for it multiple times. I asked multiple times during the procedure for her to tell me what was happening/what she was about to do and she did not explain anything throughout, and continued saying the numbing spray was not necessary despite my screaming and her stating this was a more difficult procedure than with other patients for some reason. I feel she needs to work on her interactions with patients and listening to their needs. She also then wrote in the after visit summary that she discussed with me what to do afterward and if certain symptoms came up to go to the ER - she never said any of this to me. After the procedure she told me I was bleeding a lot so she gave me a pad, then said to get up slowly so I wouldn't pass out, then she left. read more

I had to chase my own lab results which were lost twice. I had a lapse in care from 23 to 37 weeks. They gave me a shot that I was out of the efficiency window for. They lost my chart notes and had to create new records. Here I am 39 weeks and 3 days and they know nothing about what's going on with my care. They didn't even know I had another live birth. NP Monalisa La Fountain. It was my first pregnancy and instead of listening about my concerns, she turned me away to the ER. I get to the ER and the doctor there is just as confused as to why I was sent there. Explains to me that there isnt anything they can do and even they don't understand why Monalisa sent me there. The ER doctor gives a call to Capital and speaks with the office manager, now both of them are confused and have no idea why I was sent there. It was a whole shit show. I get discharged from the ER and I get a call a little later in the day from the office manager and was offered another appointment but with Dr. Maagdenberg. only rating 3 stars cause Dr. Maagdenberg is such a sweetheart. During my second appointment, she listened to all of my concerns and answered all my questions. Walked me through the whole process and even included my husband in all of our conversations. For future references, I will not be returning to this establishment, but I do wish Dr. Maagdenberg the best and I really do hope she continues being the wonderful person she is. read more

I have only written one other yelp review my entire life and it was a good one, so please understand how incredibly frustrating this situation was that I felt the need to write this. I scheduled my appointment over the phone with no issues(this was not my first time here btw). The day of the appointment, I walked into the office and checked in. A few moments later I was called by one of the receptionists. She told me that my insurance is not accepted by their office, even though I had been there before and my insurance was accepted and on the website it states my insurance is accepted. I explained this to her and she said that last time they did but today they cannot, she said they accept my insurance at all their other locations but not this one. I was frustrated since they accepted my insurance before but were now saying for some reason they can't. I walked out of the office and called their other location to see if they could visit me that day, as I was on the call they called me back from the office I just walked out of and the receptionist said that everything was sorted out and she had checked me in, she asked me to come back to the office. I was still in the parking lot so I went back in. I was checked in and taken to the exam room. I waited 50 minutes for the doctor to come in and see me, once the appointment was over I was about to head do the door but the receptionist called my name again. She told me how she spoke to my insurance and they said that I would not be covered and I would be billed for the appointment. I was shocked, she could have told me this at any point of the 50 minutes I was waiting to be seen, but she didn't. She waited until it was too late and the doctor had already seen me to mention this. I am beyond angry to say the least. I was going to go to their other location had the receptionist not called me back and ask me to come back in. This was genuinely my worst experience at any doctor's office in my entire life, and that is saying a lot. I hope she is seriously reprimanded for this. read more

Hands down best OBGYN I have ever been to. Dr. Watters and her staff are seriously amazing! From checking in to checking out every time I have an appointment everyone has been super nice and sweet and very professional. Before I sat here and typed up my review I was reading the reviews of other lady's and for those that had a "bad" experience and rated this office poorly I'm sorry... I do appreciate the "NO CHILDREN" policy and that's coming from me having 2 children. I believe that when your visiting the drs office it's important that there be no distractions that way you "the patient" can have all your questions answered by the dr without having to take care of your children that are running around or crying or misbehaving. I will always recommend every lady I know to come to this office and have Dr. Watters take care of them. Claudia who is the MA in the back office is extremely fast at processing paper work. Im very thankful for her because i was able to get my $$ from EDD very fast. She's fast at responding to any emails. When I had my baby at the hospital I was very thankful Dr. Watters was there to deliver him she was wonderful. She has the best bedside manners and all of my family were very pleased and happy with her! We all love her!!! This review is for Christina Grisbache-smith Her cold attitude often ruins what's suppose to be the happiest moments of someone's evening. She's short and not very informative. Her bedside manner isn't there and she seems uninterested in being attentive in the moment. We found out we were pregnant and has the displeasure of her giving us our first ultrasound.. after the results she told us not to get too excited (we were 9w) and it blew my entire day... after reoccurring miscarriages instead of being softhearted she decided to just be a grump. She wouldn't give me privacy while I got undressed she just stood there holding the paper gown... all my other ob (including my new one left the room) I didn't want to be rude and ask because she just looks disgusted and irritable. (We were the first patient of the morning) after leaving I decided to never return back to her for any other check ups since she had such a negative disposition on our first visit, she never filled out my paperwork in-depth. Never asked questions and just seemed to not give a care in the world.. avoid her and try another dr. Maybe she's just racist... idk but I don't trust her... she needs to retire if she's going to continue to be miserable in her practice. I can't wait to get her name removed off of my paperwork to avoid any further association with her careless attitude... On 06/24/22 I was referred to Capital OB/Gyn because of a health concern I was having in hopes of resolving my problem or at least to get some answer about the problem I'm am currently experiencing. On 06/25/22 around 8:00 am I called the company to make a appointment which was very fast and easy, once arriving to my appointment on 06/27/22 I was checked in and awaited for my name to be called, about 10-15 minutes later I was called to the back of the office to get my weight, blood pressure and urine taken, I then waiting about 10 minutes and was greeted by a nurses assistant which who asked me a few routine questions to fill out my chart and told me the doctor would be in shortly to examine me, about five minutes later the doctor came in to ask a few more questions (with a woman who was typing and taking notes) and to examine the knot I have in my right breast once the examine was finished he told me that he was going to refer me to a breast specialist and that I would need a mammogram (I'm currently 29 and having a knot in my breast is very alarming, I was sacred, nervous and really just hoping for the best outcome). I could over hear right outside of the room him explaining to the lady what to type in the notes for the referral to the breast specialist. While the doctor was telling her to put in the notes that I have a knot 1 cm from my nipple the woman then responded they don't have that option "I'm just going to put that it's overlapping" and then everyone burst out into laughter (at this point I was very embarrassed, ashamed, confused, I've never felt so belittled in my life) I feel as if my situation was being taken very lightly and the lack of concern and incorrect information that she was willing to put in the notes had me extremely appalled. I had to regain my composure before approaching the doctor with my concerns about the conversation that I just overheard, he was very understanding but at lost for words and told me that they were stilling going to recommend me to the breast specialist and that he was deeply sorry about what I have just experienced. The lack of empathy that was displayed was very unprofessional cruel and I would never recommend anybody to go here because I'm sure this isn't the first time this has happened and it will not be the last. The embarrassment I felt was the reason I did not continue with my appointment and I left and found another OB/GYN to go to. I pray that no one has to ever experience anything like this and for the staff that found my health concern to be a joke also experience the same health issues. read more

I have been coming to this office for almost 3 years now. First as a patient with Fibroid tumors and then through my pregnancy. Dr. Melchione is who I see the most and he is amazing! He's always on time, patient and explains everything to us. We never feel like we are being rushed in and out and I love that he is always so positive! We have seen other doctors in the office and no one has thus far been a disappointment. We have liked every doctor we've seen and feel confident no matter who delivers us will be great. The staff is always friendly and has gotten things back to us in a timely manner. It is very easy to get an appointment and they do their very best to accommodate your schedule. Is it weird to feel like I've hit the jackpot with Capital OB/GYN? We were assigned this office when our insurance was switched over. It's quite the drive from my home but since my husband's office is down the street, I decided to stick with it since I can just drop our children off with him and go to my appointments (children are not allowed in the doctor's office). Even if my husband didn't work nearby, I would still make the drive to this office, I've never been more comfortable with a doctor than I have felt here. I've gone through this office for prenatal care for two of my children, most of those visits were handled by Dr. Melchione. Dr. Bob delivered my son and Dr. Maagdenberg delivered my daughter. Dr. Curkendall checked in on me after my deliveries. They were all very professional and willing to talk you through a procedure. I've never felt rushed through an appointment. The doctor's are patient and encourage you to ask questions. I would normally clam up but not here. I had my yearly women's wellness exam last week and the quality is still there. Dr. Maagdenberg was very thorough and took the time to go over my charts with me. The only problems I have had over the years is the call center at their secondary location in Sacramento. It sounds like I'm not the only one. I had a prior review that I decided to take down because it reflected more on the faults of the secondary location's personnel rather than the staff at the West Sacramento location. read more

They have a no children's policy that I wasn't aware of, and as I walked in to sign in I did not even get greeted by the receptionist the first thing she told me was that I shouldn't have brought my child because they have a no children's policy! I told her no one had told me about it since it was my first time at this location. I was still seen by the doctor and I was a super fast visit. The doctor didn't even say if I had to come back and see her again so I was a little confused and didn't know if I had to schedule an appointment or not. Everyone who cared for us at each appointment - from the front office staff to the nurses and doctors - was incredibly caring and patiently answered every one of our many questions about everything from pregnancy symptoms to health insurance. When it came time to give birth, the care we received was equally incredible making the whole birth experience a truly wonderful and memorable moment. All of our follow up care was also top notch. Very professional office very nice staff and doctor. No wait time ,it's a calm environment

So, I got referred here by my insurance company. They apparently no longer have a west sac office, but haven't bothered to update that anywhere. I went to my first prenatal appointment last week and told them all my dates and everything which places me at around 12 weeks pregnant. I saw the NP who insisted on doing an internal ultrasound, even though you don't need to for anything over 8 weeks, and I asked her to try externally first. There was the baby, head, arms, legs, heart beating, everything you could want to see, but no, she still wanted to do the ultrasound internally. I reluctantly consented and as she was trying to do the exam, I mentioned that I could see better the other way, and she agreed that she could as well, yet continued with the pointless internal exam. I had to ask multiple times for pics and when she printed me one, there was a tiny white something in the middle of all the black. I told her it was a crappy pic and I couldn't show my mother in law that, so she reluctantly printed another one on which you can only make out legs if you know what you're looking at. I was upset but didn't push the issue, but I wish I had, because I've gotten more upset every day since. So, today, I called to complain and the receptionist interrupted me l, then put me on hold and came back to tell me it was "provider preference" to do the exam that way. So I explained to her again, because I thought maybe she misunderstood me. There was absolutely no hint of compassion and she basically told me I'd have to wait to follow up with the provider at my next appointment. I then informed her that this is my 5th pregnancy and I am also an RN and I know for a fact that you don't need to do an internal exam for a 12 week pregnancy and I feel violated and dismissed and upset. She said nothing. I asked if she understood what I was saying and why I was upset and she stated she did, and said nothing else. I was extra pissed at this point and advised her I was seriously considering finding another provider and hung up. I made a complaint on their website and I'm noting it here. I've never in my life been treated this way, and I don't know if I'll keep my next appointment or find another OB at this point. I'd recommend avoiding their NP, and I will personally never allow myself to be seen by her again. I want to say that the MA was nice and I called back and talked to a nice receptionist named Lois, who referred me to her supervisor to complain. She also attempted to find out who it was I talked to the first time I called so she could get credit for her terrible customer service. read more

Dr Melchione delivered my last child in July 2016 and everything from initial appointment to post pregnancy follow up was enjoyable. I was always early to my appointments and the wait wasn't long. Dr Melchione made me feel comfortable throughout my whole pregnancy (very good table manners) and his staff is knowledgeable and nice. Also I did meet a couple other drs who I had to see because I needed to come in on different days (the day does depend on who's working) but again they were nice and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend Capitol Ob/gyn to my family and friends for all their "whoo ha" problems lol. read more

I've only been to the West Sacramento location, and the office staff is wonderful. I was actually very impressed with my first visit and I was excited to not have to "shop around" for a doctor. Then I had to call the office in Sacramento. The staff who answer the phone are rude, constantly interrupt, put you on hold without notice and not helpful in the slightest. I am having a very complicated first trimester. I cannot keep food or liquids down and I've lost ten pounds since I first found out I was pregnant. I called the office first thing on Friday morning (the office opens at 9am) for some assistance. The office staff asked where I get my prescriptions and said they'd call in something for me. I checked with my pharmacy at noon and they hadn't received anything, so I called the doctors office after lunch to follow up. I was told not to worry that the order had been called in. I didn't want to be a bother and I figured they would have no reason to lie, so I called my husband at work and asked him to pick it up for me on his way home. When he went to the pharmacy, there was nothing there and they had never received anything from the doctors office! Since it was now the weekend and no one was in the office to help, I had to spend my first mother's day weekend in the hospital! The ER doctor finally released me, but with only enough medication to get me through a couple of days because she wanted me to be seen by my regular doctor. I called the office first thing Monday morning and was barely able to state my problem before being put on hold (with no warning). Then when the woman came back on the phone she said I shouldn't be having contractions and didn't understand why I was in the hospital. I never said anything about contractions! Needless to say, I'm looking for another doctors office. read more

I did a lot of research to find who I considered to be the best doctor available and Dr. Bob, at Capitol OBGYN, definitely fulfilled the requirements. Dr. Bob was professional, friendly, thorough and gentle. Prior to having the exam, I first met with Dr. Bob in his office where he went over my records and medical history. Then, during the exam, Dr. Bob explained every step of the procedure as his assistant stood by who was also very nice and made me feel at ease. The office was beautiful and the staff was extremely courteous and professional. Dr. Bob will definitely continue to be my gynecologist. I feel so confident in his professionalism that I will be making an appointment for our teenage daughter to have her first gynecological examination with Dr. Bob. Joanne read more

I have only been too the Capitol obgyn in Sacramento off Cadillac drive, though I am close too the Elk grove South Sac area I wanted Dr. Thomas Melchione who has been a blessing. I have met Dr. Bob years ago and though I know he knows his stuff , Dr. Melchione is a knowledgeable and has the most sincere bedside manner. He is a true sweetheart. I have had a terrible time due to infection and other complications and he has done everything in his power too get me healthy again. He has delivered my little cousin and will deliver any grandkids I should have in near future. My daughters really loved his bedside manner as well and know he really is compassionate and did truly seem too care about my case . I have met other Doctors while in the hospital from Capitol obgyn while they did there rounds and they all made me feel like I was important and so was my health . They are the best in Sacramento . Though the waiting room in the Cadillac drive office is way busier than several years back , I understand it's the popularity of the Doctors . I do think they need to get a larger area for waiting area . The wait time is longer too than years ago but it is well worth the wait. read more

This "office" is a joke... This place isn't even worth half a star let alone a full one. Staff is incompetent there's numerous staff just standing around when there is a full lobby! The place is a under construction which causes a mess I would not recommend this place to anyone seeking prenatal help or anything of that matter. read more
