Customer service has recently plummeted drastically! It's as if Capital One has recently been taken over by new management, the worst imaginable.
For one thing, they're suddenly abandoning their IRA customers, in mid-CD! If customers can commit to keeping money in a CD for a given term, why can't Capital One Bank honor their commitment for the same term? Instead, they're dumping their customers over to Millennium Trust, whose website offers little, but they apparently charges fees.
Secondly, my elderly disabled mother had a Capital One credit card for years, paid all her bills on time, paid her Capital One card bill in full on time every month, and had an excellent credit rating. Capital One only gave her a $500 credit limit. When she requested a measly $250 credit level increase, during a time of rampant inflation, the "Capital One Customer Care Team" (an ironic name for people who obviously don't care about their customers anymore) flatly denied her request.
My mother then applied for a Bank of America credit card and they immediately approved her for a credit card with a starting limit of $1100. Plus the B.O.A. card pays cash back, whereas her Capital One card did not.
So my mother and I will be using our Bank of America credit cards from now on instead of our inferior Capital One cards. And I've withdrawn all but one dollar of my money from my four Capital One Bank accounts because I don't trust my money with a financial institution that obviously doesn't give a damn about its customers anymore and shows extremely bad judgment in making business decisions.
Also, Capital One makes it impossible for customers to email them, securely or otherwise, or reply to their emails, or online chat with a human being. They should just put up a big neon sign that says "We couldn't care less about our customers." read more
