If they don't have what you want, they we will try and get it in for you. They stock fruit and vegetables, dry foods, speciality teas and coffees, cheeses and meats, pasties and pork pies and a range of salads and pastas. On my last visit I was tempted by some delicious cheese. The store has been given a fairly recent makeover and fresh lease of life by the new owner and local Julie Williamson. The store will even make up hampers and picnic baskets for you if ordered in advance. A very upmarket corner shop.

The longer I stay in here the more things I'll see and buy, which I'm happy with, as I save loads by buying my basics at small supermarkets, so I can spend more on proper luxury! Like Belgian chocolate cups that you can use as the basis for bite-size desserts, or for liquors. And pavlova bases to pile Summer fruits on for a pudding to share. In the chilled cabinet are cooked meats and cheeses. At the counter you can buy Iranian sweets and a box of cigarettes. Nima is traditional, exotic and friendly. As it's one of Moseley's most long-standing independents, it also feels righteous to shop here. You'll appreciate the foods and they'll appreciate your custom.

Eric Lyons also stock home-made pickles, chutneys, and the more unusual Madhuban Honey Garden (the perfect brand name for Indian influenced cuisine made in rural England), fresh and hand-made curry sauces. On the drive over here I was discussing with my driver my considering being a vegan. All that is in doubt now that I am positioned over the meat cabinet on the other side of the shop. It's filled with traditional chops and steaks, and some more unusual products. Turkey Balti sausages are another example of Indian meets English, and while I wont' be buying them in the warmth of late May, they are a top contender for Boxing Day supper. We leave with two chilli burgers and two minted lamb burgers, for an early evening barbeque, but I'll return for a proper mission here later this year and I'll be sure to have plenty of room in the freezer.

We finally had the chance, following a morning trip to the cinema to pop in for a quick lunch. We ordered a Hot Hot Hot pizza to share, and a could of beers. The beer the other half wanted wasn't available but our server took great delight in taking us through the Morrerti specials that Laghi's stock. His suggestion was spot on! The pizza itself was thin, flavoursome and just enough for a lunch time snack, but we would definitely prefer two next time! Sweet treats of doughnuts and strudel followed, and that drew are first experience to a close. But definitely not our last!

Morning coffee part II…read more I must have walked past this place 1000 times and thought it was closed down...today I found out why! It is simply not open on weekends, and is not on my short walk to work! I went in this morning and was quickly welcomed by the owner, he was chatty and polite making me my coffee while I had a look around. I have to say the coffee was average, but how friendly the staff are makes up for that. If you want some friendly chat and a warm welcome to start your day, this place is worth a try.

I took my daughter, who was 3 at the time and met up with a friend from Redditch. The coffees are good and the menu is small but the food is fresh and tasty. We had bagels when we went and I seem to remember thinking that vegetarians wouldn't have much choice but otherwise you would be okay. The cafe is attached to a really nice deli - a weakness of mine as I love deli type of food - cheeses, olives, oils etc, so my purse is always much lighter when I've left a place like this. You can also get here by train, and it's a short walk from the station.
