Even though I had a bad experience long time ago, my co worker recommended this place for our work event for employee appreciation luncheon that we are hosting for our staff so I gave it a chance. We tried the colossus sandwiches last year and that was a success. Then this year we ordered 7 ring sandwiches of turkey, roast beef, and cold cut sandwiches with sauces on the side. They can't precut for us. The person on the phone was very friendly and helpful. The pick up didn't take long, but had to make sure to give us the sauces which they forgot. So double check the order before leaving. My co worker helped precut the sandwiches and was able to make it 12 slices more than we originally thought be only 8 or 10 since it feeds up to 10 ppl. The presentation looked amazing and the employees all loved the food!!! We will definitely order there again. read more

Well I was thrilled to try you guys out I saw the pictures the food looked great Channel 7 review made it look amazing. My wife and I were looking where we could get a nice sub sandwich, boom The Colossal feeds 50-60 we needed 2 for the party. Fast forward I called in today gentleman answered, put me on hold came back and was greeted with "what do you want?" "Yes can I place an order for 2 Colossal sandwich's." Before I could say what kind I wanted I was rudely interrupted "I said what do you want? What kind of sandwich!?" I repeated what I wanted He repeated "what kind of sandwiches do you want? I said can have it with Turkey Pastrami and Turkey. I was told no repeatedly on the turkey pastrami. -First the Turkey pastrami is too expensive it's an added $50 I said that's fine and he continued to persuade me to not get it -Second because now it's too much work to put on a sandwich because you know The Colossal is pretty big. (Seems like the works too much for them) So at the end of the day I went with the big corporate sandwich shop because I got my questions answered, they weren't rude, actually tried to upsell me instead of telling me no it's "too expensive" Lesson learned: teach your employees how to talk to customers. Capri deli food is always, delicious and warm. This place is a must try, must have and must return. Their service this last visit was subpar to say the least. I came in around 6 PM. There was no one else in line. I waited at the counter approximately five minutes and was not acknowledged. There were 2 to 3 girls and a male working behind the counter. You would've thought I was invisible. Nothing, crickets, no I will be right with you or anything like that. Once the line had three or four more people behind me, we were finally acknowledged. Once the service debacle was over, they returned to the delicious food and service to my table was good. The dining tables need some work. They are all unlevel and wobble horribly. I did use the facility and it was clean. However, the door would not close, it needs to be realigned. As I returned to my table, imagine my surprise to see someone at my table, cleaning up and throwing my plate and bowl away. Capri Deli I don't know what is going on over there but some attention needs to be paid to repairs ASAP. Also, before cleaning up someone's table, make sure their seat is empty and they have left the facility. Customer service needs some work, sad because usually this place is top-notch. read more

On this visit sandwiches were our choice but they also have pizza, pastas, salads which are all very good.Capri Deli is always busy but the folks behind the counter do a great job filling orders and moving the line. I've been going to Capri deli since 2014. I live in the Laverne area by far an extremely great sandwich shop and no freaking onions on the sandwich is what's posted in a picture. I love it. We were up in Azusa and looking to have lunch so someone suggested Capri. I had heard about this place in the past. My wife and I had already talked about sharing, possibly the roast beef or grinder. When I got there, I noticed that they had a Corned beef on Rye, which I should have ordered but my wife doesn't like Rye so we didn't order it. I will definitely have to come back. Place is bigger than I thought and they have lots of other options. They had lasagna's that you can put into the oven. They had plenty of salads. I had the small macaroni salad. The food is okay but don't bother trying to call in an order. The phone is constantly busy and when they answer they put you on hold... To never come back or get disconnected. I was able to drive from downtown Los Angeles here with no one answering the whole time. They finally answered when I had pulled into the driveway, just to put me on another hold. Then another 20 minute waiting time for a pizza. Only come if you have nothing but time on your hands. Unfortunately, I don't live in Covina or around Covina. It's a little bit of a drive for me, but whenever I am in or around the city, I make it a special point to go to one of two places Capri deli happens to be one of them. I can always count on getting an amazing meal, whether it be one of their outstanding sandwiches, terrific pizzas, or delectable passes I've never disappointed. The only thing that is hit and miss is the root beer on tap. It's always a 50-50 shot whether it's working or not. This last time I was in I asked for a root beer along with my amazing pepperoni and mushroom pizza and pastrami sandwich. And the lady doing my order said sorry the taps not working. The funny thing is she got stink eye From the other girl working behind the counter next to her. As she was ringing up my order the other girl walked over to her and said something and then she came back. She goes. Oh I guess the tap is working today. And I did get my amazing root beer. Holy smokes this food was fantastic and easily surpassed our usual go-to places for Dipped sandwiches and quite possibly for Italian food. Don't let the picture fool you; this sandwich was gigantic!!! At first we thought we would have to take it to go but we're happy to see thst they had a large seating area in the back. I ordered a "Colossus" cold cut sandwich for a party. Originally I wanted to order from Old World Deli but they're closed Sundays so Capri was a second choice that I figured would also be great. I was immediately put off by the $12 "cut fee" for cutting the larger sandwiches, as no other places I looked at charge you for something that should be totally included to begin with. Kayla took my catering order and was very sweet and helpful. On Sunday we picked up the food and brought it to our event only to realize the sandwich was cut maybe halfway through at most. We ended up having to track down a knife to cut it ourselves which was highly inconvenient at a rental hall. Monday I called the shop to let them know and talked to Steve. He said, and I quote, "yeah what do you want? That happens because our knives get dull from how many orders we get, we have to replace our knives every 6 weeks." Maybe not charge for a service you admittedly half-ass at best? Maybe don't blame your equipment? The food was decent, if it weren't for Steve's horrible customer service this would've been 4 starts not 2. I did go into the shop in person and got a $12 refund. I've been going to Capri deli for years and it always hits the spot. Love the cold sandwiches, turkey is my favorite but the bread-leas sandwich or salad is a great option when I want low carb. I'm a sucker for routine and usual go with cold, but the hot sandwiches are delicious too. We love all the selection of chips and bottled sodas that are the perfect complement to your meal. It can be a bit of a line if you come right lunchtime but it moves pretty quick, with efficient and friendly ordering and the open seating is nice to have a meal and go without all the fuss of sit down service. Takeout is a great option too if short on time, and the deli items of take and bake lasagna is always good too. Although we didn't get them today, finishing off the meal with some Italian cookies is always a nice treat. read more
