I enjoyed my six nights here at the Capsule Hostel. The staff were all, without exception, very friendly and helpful. The capsule setup of the rooms was a welcome surprise to me. They're modeled after the pod hotels of Japan, where you get a tiny little bunk to sleep in...because what more space do you really need for just one night? I liked it because, being an introvert who loves to travel, I was always able to socialize during the day, and then come back to a higher level of privacy. The capsules were spacious enough; I had plenty of space to sit up, and room on either side of the mattress to store some things.
Now, one thing to note is that this is NOT a party hostel. It has more of the feel of a hotel. If you're like me and you're cool with meeting people but it's also not a necessity, then you should be good here. If you want a place where the hostel will put together social events with the express intention of connecting people, you'll probably want to try elsewhere.
The location is also very good. Literally steps from Avenida Insurgentes, with a number of Metrobus stops, a nice shopping mall, restaurants, and about a quarter-mile from the Insurgentes subway stop.
There is a breakfast diner/pizzeria called L'Ermitano connected to the hostel. Daniel and the other people working there are all very cool people, and play some awesome music.
The one thing I would change is that the bathrooms are very *small*. I'm 5'8" and my knees were almost hitting the stall door. The showers are all downstairs and you have to walk by reception each time, which is a bit awkward.
Otherwise, a good hostel! read more
