Back again to Indian Beach & planned our trip to get to the best food truck ever! Today we ordered the crab cake combo that came with/fries, slaw & a handful of extra fried shrimp! Outstanding!! I ordered the scallop snack w/onion rings & slaw - easily the best.scallops.ever!! Always fresh & hot, great portions & friendly service - the few picnic tables in the lot make it an easy stop for lunch! Don't forget: CASH ONLY!

Don't let the fact that Captain's Kitchen is a food truck fool you, they had their s**t down! We were greeted with an enthusiastic and welcoming "Hello!" We ordered at one window and waited for our names to be called. They only take cash here and include tax in their prices which is nice. They have coolers out front with drinks to pick from and a nice selection of sauces. Do note that this is a takeout spot. You can eat in your car, but they wrap it up pretty nice to take home (or to the beach) to eat. I came here to try the famous shrimp burger. I think I had a misunderstanding of what a shrimp burger would be. I thought the shrimp would be grinded into a patty, however the shrimp burger is just fried shrimp inside a burger bun with coleslaw. I wish I had gotten more bang bang sauce. The burger itself was pretty decent. I found the shrimp to be pretty plain, I was hoping for more flavor. The burger as a whole with the bang bang sauce was a nice combo, but not something I'd go out of my way to get again. I'm still really happy I tried it! The fries felt a bit older, but the hush puppies and fried pickles were good.

I was in search of a good seafood sandwich and I found the Captains Table on yelp. I almost got the shrimp burger because the reviews rave about it but when I saw they had Mahi on the menu, I knew that's what I had to get!!! It was SO. GOOD. And the portion of fish that was given on my sandwich was unreal. It was light and flaky, just the way Mahi should be. They offer coleslaw on their sandwiches and have coolers nearby for sauces if you want added flavors. They are currently located in Salter Path area but their food truck will go back to Morehead in the fall. The service was super friendly and quick! And it's all outdoor seating or eat in your car but on this beautiful day, we sat out front on the provided umbrella tables. Thanks yall!

5/5 for a reason! This food truck is awesome! Check out their Facebook page to ensure you have the right location every day. Oysters and shrimp were both incredible. And the fried shrimp was probably the best I've ever had. Ridiculously delicate with the perfect level of breading. You won't find better fried shrimp anywhere!

Amaaaaazing. We came several times during our vacation and it was great every time. We only tried the shrimp burger and the scallop burger though. I got the scallop snack though because I didn't want the bun. The have a huge menu with crab cakes and other fish burgers. The scallops were my favorite. I was scared to try them because I've never liked fried scallops before. These were SO GOOD. They were lightly breaded and still juice. They were a nice size too. So goooood. The shrimp was good too. Def the best one we've had, but the scallops were the best. They have coolers outside the truck that are filled with various drinks too. They also have picnic tables you can eat at, but we ate in the car. The food came out quick and the employees were friendly. I miss this place already!

OH EM GEE! This place was bomb.com I was charging my car, getting ready for my trek back to Northern Virginia. I was hungry and so I opened the app to go to Yelp! However, there was a food truck looking back at me. So I was like let me see what Captain's Kitchen "talm bout". SLAMMIN! SLAMMIN! The food is torch! The customer service is on point and the sauces... This food had me licking my fingers and smacking. And if anyone knows me, I hate when people smack when they eat. But I was alone in my car so I gave myself the liberty to act up. The only drawback was, I was leaving town and couldn't spin the block to get another taste. I ordered the shrimp sandwich with some fries and it did NOT disappoint. I'm such a foodie, I'd come back to this area just for the food. It was that good.

I enjoyed a motorcycle ride from New Bern this afternoon to visit Captain's Kitchen. Ordered a fish sandwich with slaw and had it in my hands within 3 minutes. The fellow at the window was very helpful and friendly. The sandwich was very good and LARGE. Highly recommend. read more

My fries and burger were both a bit over cooked but they tasted good, and the generous toppings made up for the burger being a bit dry. My husband had the skeeter don and said it was good, that he really enjoyed the shrimp. We will definitely stop by again on our trips to and from the aquarium. read more

No bad choices! It was all fresh seafood. We got the scallops, grouper, and shrimp with onion rings. They were spot on with a but of Cajun flavor. Shrimp was a little salty but still really good. Nice guys running the truck too! Bring cash as they are cash only! read more

The food was fresh and hot. I wouldn't say there is anything extraordinary about the food, but if you are craving some fried goodies near the beach-this is it. Staff is very friendly, and the food took almost no time to be ready. Make sure you check their Facebook page or call them for their location since the address listed on Yelp is not where they are always at. read more

I drive a lot for work, and am lucky to go past the Captain's truck often. I have had the shrimp burgers, fish sandwich, grouper bites, and the soft shell crab. Everything has been delicious, and I've always been more than satisfied with the portions. Marty and his staff are mostly in Indian Beach and Emerald Isle, so make a point to drive down to the beach for lunch! read more

Everything was a lot smaller than what are pictured here. The crab, monster fish, and shrimp are about half the size of pictures but it tasted it real good still! Be sure to get some of their spicy ranch sauce! read more

I had the oyster burger w/slaw for a "snack". Hard to call this thing a sandwich! There were so many oysters...three or four fell out and it was still slam full of them! Looking forward to my next "snack" this afternoon....the soft shell crab sandwich. My Raleigh friends saw my post about the oyster burger and five of my friends texted me and said I have to get the crab sandwich. Looking forward to it! I'm so glad I found this place through yelp. My husband picked it up and brought it down onto the beach for the last day of our week long EI vacation. It was amazing and the perfect ending to our trip. The fried scallops, onion rings, and shrimp burgers with coleslaw couldn't have been more delicious. We are all looking forward to next time! This food truck, which was awarded 98 in cleanliness, offers delicious seafood at very reasonable prices. Their local favorite, the Shrimp-burger was overflowing with lightly fried shrimp and only $5. Try the shrimp burger and the freshly fried fish sandwich with their home made coleslaw. We are right across the street in Summer winds, a lady at the pool was telling us about this food truck,since she is a local, and we literally got out, in our towels and ran across the street, we got the scallop burgers( since they sold over 100 pounds of shrimp today and were out) and they didn't disappoint! I thought I would be getting fresh seafood, but my 3 seafood platter for a whopping $30 tasted like frozen to someone who is a local seafood lover. 3 thin slices of grouper, 20 small shrimp that had no taste and 10 pretty good oysters. When presented, it looked like a lot of food, but 2/3 was fries. Very disappointed after all the reviews. read more

We got fried oysters, shrimp, scallops and soft shell crab. Was out first time so we tried a lot of items. OMG!!!!! Light breading and seasoned just right. Local restaurants are in trouble because I haven't had seafood this good anywhere else in the area. Will definitely be repeat customers! $5 shrimp burger can't be beat! And Joe was an older gentleman that sits by the condiment table and was a character! He told us the history of the business and was entertaining as we enjoyed our meal. History

Established in 2017.

Captain Marty Muns has worked in the Seafood industry for over 30 years. Growing up as a hunter and fisher, he got his start as a shrimp boat owner, shrimping the clear waters of the Crystal Coast. The Captain has always been a 'go-getter', with no dream too big in his mind. After eight years of shrimping, Marty's next endeavor was entering the commercial fishing and tourism industry. In 1986, Captain Marty began offering narrated boat tours and deep sea fishing excursions on the 'Mystery Tours', a gorgeous double decker that held 121 passengers. In 1999, he expanded the business, custom building the "Lookout Express", which took the title for the world's largest speed boat and carried 150 passengers to and from local islands, including Shackleford Banks and Cape Lookout. Subsequently, in 2001 Mr. Muns yet again broke the mold, adding brunch and dinner dining options, as well as a party cruise and a DJ booth/dance floor to his third boat, the "Diamond City". Reubens sit next to fried pork chop sandwiches on the menu of this bright red truck and both are quality lunches for sure. I got the fried pork chop sandwich and after a bit of a wait I was presented with a golden fried, thinly cut piece of pork on top of an artisan roll served with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle and a huge pile of fries ( I had asked for onion rings but he discovered he was out of them and promised to have them the next time I came). The sandwich was fantastic; crunchy with good flavor. My one comment is that an aoili or other sauce would have made it perfect. Fries were good too. I also tried some of my friends Reuben and it was juicy and full of the corned beef and sauerkraut goodness that all Reubens must have. Southern Thyme Grill is a great addition to the growing fleet of food trucks on the NC coast and one that I will be visiting again. Everyone was at the Salty Turtle, ordering beer and drooling over the menu from afar as Peter went to close up the truck. I walked over and chatted with Peter; he could not have been more kind to us. He opened the window back up and took 17 orders. They cooked us some fantastic food, and then Peter came over as we were eating to make sure we were all enjoying it. Thank you, Peter! Food-wise, the favorites from our group were the gyro which was just perfect; the chicken souvlaki and the spanakopita were all amazing. And the baklava - remember the baklava!

They bring you a pitcher which is nice since things got busy and we didn't have to bother the waitress. We also ordered the crab balls as an appetizer. They were good, but were not needed as we got our plates at the same time and our plates were huge with more than enough food for us. I got the deviled crab to try something new. Reminded me of thanksgiving stuffing but seafoody. Loved it. The potato salad was really good, and so was the Cole slaw, but sooo sweet. It was like dessert for me. My husband got to fried shrimp and was by far the best we've ever had. The shrimp alone was a 10/10. I loved how thin the batter was and they were perfectly seasoned and cooked. You didn't need any sauce to dip them in and the minimal batter didn't leave your mouth coated in grease like most. I gave it a 4 because the menu didn't have descriptions so i had to ask what things were and the waitress didn't like seafood so it was hard to know what was a favorite or not. May be silly so some, but if you are particular or not from the area, there's several things you'd have no idea what they were, like deviled crab. The pricing was amazing though. This is hands down the best seafood on the Island. If you want some good food and don't care for the fancy restaurant, this is your place. We eat with the captain every visit. He is the nicest guy and cares about his customers. You get generous portions and it is always good. read more

Saw this on yelp and decided to try it. We got the shrimp burger and scallop burger. Absolutely delicious!! And full of seafood! It was in the parking lot of a consignment shop and did have a couple tables. Hoping it's open on Sunday! The price was right! read more

Great little place. Very friendly and quick service. Food was great and portions were huge. We got 2 of the 25$ platters, order of shrimp, and chili cheese fries. Easily fed 5 people even with 4 kids snacking on the shrimp and fries. read more

Lightly battered, delicately seasoned, hot and crispy - we had the shrimp burger and the shrimp burger with no bun - by far the best fried shrimp I have had in this area. So good we are planning a second visit. read more
