A very cute beer bus located with a garden of food carts! Our friend from Portland, recommended meeting up here for lunch, so that's where we started our day. We chose food from other food carts, and situated ourselves in front of the cute beer bus. Captured Beer Bus had about twelve beers available on tap. It was a bit difficult sitting on the bar stools in the heat, but I can picture it being nice during the cooler months. I chose to drink their Hazy IPA. On such a hot day, the cold beer was nice. It had the perfect beer notes for a haze and not too bitter. They pour their beers in cute Mason jars of different sizes. The beertender was very kind and good at his job with the pours and remembering everyone's tabs. Overall, very aesthetic. Loved my experience here! read more

Don't ask me why, but I love drinking beer out of this bus. I had a 9% stout this week that was delicious and cold and memorable. There is plenty of seating around the food truck area pod, or a heated nook at the bus itself. I love having a good rotation of spots I can have a drink solo in PDX and this is one of them. read more

Captured by Porches has a lot going for it. First off, it has a great name. I have no idea what it means, but it has a heck of a ring to it. It rolls off the tongue. I love it. Second, these folks make some awesome beer. It's different than your average, run-of-the-mill brew. It's interesting and delicious. Well-balanced but at the same time exciting. My favorites are the IPA, the sour apricot and the apricot (and I don't generally dig on fruit beer). Third, they're serving beer from a cart. Yes, a cart. So you can grab a mason jar of brew (that should be its own separate line item of awesomeness) from this cart, then wander around to take a gander at what all the other carts in the pod have to offer. And of course you can enjoy that same beer (or maybe a second) while you dine on your meal. A perfect bow on the gift that is this pod. Fourth, they have lots of awesome quirks. Resealable bottles (prepare for large deposits - they want those bottles back), mason jars and kegs are the preferred method of container. They'll fill growlers from the cart too. And the beer is plenty inexpensive. Especially for how good it is. This is definitely not going to be your average brewpub experience. But that'sn one of the great things about it. Tasty beer made by local folks and served as "street" as you can get (without wrapping the mason jars in paper bags). Dig it. read more

Every food pod should have a beer cart! Most selections are about $5 for beer and a couple $'s more for wine. The wine selection was limited with one red and one white. There were many beers on tap including a rhubarb cider. I liked the large selection! The beers are poured into large mason jars which made me feel sorta folksy as I gulped down my beer along with my food. Being the only beer cart in the pod they do not price gouge and it felt very fair to hand over some paper for beer. The service was quick and the cart itself is interesting. I like the black bird! At night it was chilly and I took in the warmth of the fire. I imagined being a somewhat upscale hobo, holding my mason jar and wondering what adventure my feet would take me next. A review of a visit to the Captured by Porches public bus (aka Mobile Public Haus) under two months before its departure to a new food pod on SE 28th St and Ankeny from the now-shuttered D-Street Noshery. In the waning afternoon daylight, the quiet food pod was dominated by Captured by Porches' covered seating area, like a backyard party waiting to happen. Anchoring it is Captured by Porches' short, green bus, beer taps out the side, fronted by a worn, portable wood bar. Available brews listed on a chalkboard easel. This small, homegrown brewery offers just a few drafts at a time, four this late summer day for $3 each, served in mason jars. Relaxed in their beer tent, sampling the Emma Amber and Amber Wheat. These beers were genial, easy-drinking for some pre-dinner unwinding but otherwise unmemorable. While I would not point someone here for a stimulating beer, there's a charm to the laid-back set-up, akin to having a home-brew at a friend's backyard. I hope that ambience has been re-created at their new location. read more

Warm weather, a variety of addicting food to choose from, and then top it off with delicious cold brew in mason jars! Captured by Porches has beer for anyone's taste whether it's an IPA or cider. Picking a brew is a cinch and the option of paying by card is a breeze. 2 Towns Cider is usually what I have been having lately and the rhubarb cider is a home run in my book. The guy pouring is friendly and offers great recommendations for those who asks. $4 per brew is the standard price and wine is also available too. I have yet to be in a line waiting to order so that's definitely a plus. I don't know how often the website is updated but it still listed the cherry cider as of today. Hopefully the rhubarb is still on tap at my visit :). Knowing that some cart pods have a beer carts, it should become the standard for all! read more

This review is for CBP's Hefeweizen. It's good. Not as mind numbingly GREAT as the IPA or Emma Red Amber... but it's ok.. Dylan had me all worked up for a "german style hef, reeking of banana and cloves" ( like warsteiner, or weihenstephaner) I picked up the keg at Clinton St... plopped it into my kegerator of love in the Man Cave.... came back later that night, poured a big glass of goodness.. sat down in front of the PS3 to kill some Helgath infantry on my new Killzone 2 game... bring the glass to my lips for some out of this world german style hef.. and then.... Meh... it was ok... it's was even good... but it wasn't great... not even close. I love CBP, but on this one, have to give it a Meh. next keg up is Bridgeport's Haymaker... also known as "summer in a glass" I'll be back for another keg of CBP IPA at the end of the summer. read more

Was so happy this beer truck is in this food pod. They have beer, cider, and wine which is awesome. We tried the IPA and something else which escapes me at the moment, but both were delicious! I was sooooo excited when I found out there was a beer truck in this food truck pod. (And I was really excited to find out what a food pod was from our Lyft driver!) They have a wonderful selection of beers on tap to choose from. Also wine available. We actually came back twice, because I fell in love with Guero (the Mexican food truck next to them). Great and friendly guy who works there. Pretty sure it's his beer bus/place, but I can't be sure. Definitely ask to sample one or two of the beers before making a choice. We had the cider on the first day, in a mega size. You can mega size it for $2 extra. Definitely worth it. And it comes in a Mason jar! How cool is that? Prices are superrrr reasonable (plus no sales tax in Portland - cannot even express how much I love this). Also there's a shade tent here, so you can enjoy your beer with (or without food, but why go without) on a sunny afternoon! Captured Beer Bus + Guero's = an excellent choice. Always. Captured By Porches shoudl be renamed Capture Your Heart. I LOVE this place! Suzanne, the woman pouring beer, is one of the owners and she is warm, friendly and inviting. How could you NOT want to stop and have a beer after getting a warm welcoming smile from her! This is a bus located next to Kroger's Farm Market in a parking lot on Lombard and Burr. There is also a taco cart and a canopy so you can drink a beer, eat a taco and stay dry under the canopy. Great way to spend a couple of hours on a rainy day! The bus is a bright green old bus with lots of character. Step inside and snuggle down on to a couch and read a book or grab a few friends and play one of the board games. This place captures the essence of what makes Portland such as easy city to live in and love! read more

As I was sitting there finishing my dinner with my wife, the beer guy went and turned out the lights to the tent we were sitting beneath and went home, leaving us unable to see or eat our food. He walked right by us, and deliberately turned off the lights! I guess it was time for him to go, so he left. The beer tastes like what I imagine cold bathtub water to taste like. What isn't there to like? They've got maybe 10 different beers on tap, a couple wines, reasonable pricing (most are $5 for a 16 oz mason jar, upgrade to 24 oz for $2 more). Glad this place came to our neck of the woods. We usually ride down to St. Johns to grab a bite and a few pints. We stopped there a few nights ago and it's a pretty cool place. The staff was very friendly and there were other patrons on the patio tables outside drinking some brews as well. Captured By Porches in St. Johns is located in a parking lot next to the farmers market in a large green school bus with an attached pouring station on the outside of the bus. Inside the bus they have some records and some seating for you to relax. That's a great alternative if it's raining. They always seem to have a fire going out front so go and have a few brews and sit by the fire. Hey, maybe buy some veggies! It's very convenient. read more

Was enjoying some wonderful brick pizza at the d street pod, so of course a beer would be the perfect add on. Unfortunately, no luck as it was 1:40 with pizza piping hot and they open at 2pm, much sadness ensued. About 2:05, pizza long since consumed, the owner came by and felt we should still have a beer and provided a refreshing hef on the house. She was out planting more flowers in front. So this location has good enough beer and nice seats. It's fun to sit and watch music (Sunday nights!) and relax with the family. However, I really wish they would keep the tables clean, or at least provide customers with a means of cleaning them. They're often disgusting, and the employee typically spends most of his time sitting down and playing on his cell phone. The jars are cute, but how much do they cost? Half the time we're there, they have to start rationing them or doling out plastic cups. Can you folks just invest in a few more cases? I know how much they cost, they sell them at Safeway and Costco. Just get more and stop punishing us! And seriously. The flies. Dining under a bag filled with dead flies is no fun, and you can't seem to approach the counter to order without getting some in your face. Gross. Gotta do something about those flies. My absolute favorite beer spot in Portland, it's nice simple the selection wouldn't disappoint beer lovers. Or someone who just down for a sip. They are currently in the process of remodeling... which will be really nice when it's done, but wish they could have done this before the weather got really nice. I have been told they are bringing in 5 more food carts and another big tent. They have plenty of beers to choose from. The coolest thing about this place is it's a food cart that serves beer! Way to get with the trend! It's also a beer/brewer that I had never heard of, so that was neat. But there were only three beers on tap, so that was a bit disappointing. It also wasn't the best beer, it was a bit flat and some lacked in flavor (I'm sort of a beer snob). Thursday is a $ off pints, so they're $3 instead of $4, so that's cool.
