Such a cool experience, especially for Americans! For about 20 euro/person, I reserved ahead of time a 2 hour window of spa + sauna session for my friends and me. Check-in at the counter was easy. We each got a locker wristband to keep our belongings in. Make sure you bring your swimsuit and your own towel. We then proceeded to the pre-shower area to rinse off before we moved to the sauna. Once in the sauna area there was a huge indoor pool for lounging, an aromatherapy room, a thermal lounging tanning area, and an outdoor pool with AMAZING jet power. Upstairs was where the naked sauna was located. While this may be a very different concept for Americans, my friends and I decided to try it. It wasn't so bad after all, and wrapping up in a towel was perfectly fine! Make sure you also watch your time! We each accidentally went over our 2 hours by a couple of minutes, so we paid ~ 2 Euros each. No big deal, but just something to be aware of.

Totally in love!! These pools are the most awesome experience. They have multiple pools in different temperatures to relax and exhilarate your body! They range from freezing cold to hotter than I personally like but satisfied everyone there!! There are jets around your feet and shoulders. There are also waterfalls you can stand under, the falling water massaging your back. They also have heavy flowing spouts to massage your back and head. The cost was about €16 for two hours which I felt was very well priced. I wish I had known to bring a towel though! This location requires clothes unlike its counterpart next door. There are changing rooms and lockers and your credit card is tied to a waterproof band so you can pay for anything with a swipe of your wrist. I wish we had something like this in Florida!!!

Came here a week before leaving Europe, for a respite from the 20 degree weather and Wow!!!!!!!! The experience was ammmmaaaaaaazing! The town's so nice, you get to name it twice-- Baden-Baden (meaning Bath Bath in German) is reachable by car or by train from Strasbourg, FR. It was a unique experience, with the Black Forest close-by, this was probably the most relaxing part of the trip. The Romans (of course) built these baths and today, the town of Baden Baden has evolved to a hotspot for travelers craving R&R. Visitors soak in geothermal waters for cleansing and for curative powers. Today the baths are 'modernized' with space age buildings built next to old structures all surrounded by meticulously kept grounds giving you that sense of zen modernity. Anyone who is into relaxation and achieving that high naturally will love it here. It's clothing optional on the second floor and kids are not allowed there. Children over 7 are allowed on the first floor. It's a family place. It's a friends place. It's a couples place. It's a singles place. I liked it so much, I went twice. Some friends liked it so much they stayed for a few days and we met up with them later on. Both days I went, were sunny beautiful but crisp (at 22 degrees F, LOL). Bathing in hot mineral springs, then dipping into a cool spring and finally, a waterfall massage in the open was an indescribably relaxing experience. Ahhhhhhh heavenly, soothing, soothingly heavenly, heavenly soothing, heavenly........I've reached calm for a few hours........close to ultimate peace......... I will come back. Tip: Go early mornings when it's best for your system. Baden Baden is a hangout. It gets crowded with chicness especially during holidays and from what I hear, weekends also. You know you love it so just go. In Germany, you can go into a hot springs or bath/resort and pay by 1/2/3 hr increments. You pay as you soak kind of deal and to me that is practical. There's Aromatherapy to the nth degree . These extra services are a matter of choice. To me, the hot springs were def worth it. If you have the budget for it, there are also 5 star hotels in the area for that full-on hedo experience. There's a casino, a small but high-roller Casino for the jet-set bored. Visits: 2

The Caracalla therme spa was the absolute highlight to our trip to Baden-Baden. Many North American might be put off by reading that it's all nude, but actually, you can stay on the mail level where everyone keeps their clothes on and still have a great time, if nudity is uncomfortable for you. I highly suggest using google and letting it translate the whole webpage for you, for the Caracalla website. It will give you all the pricing options and explain the different pools and areas. You can't take pictures inside, but the outside was just gorgeous at night. Inside is very very clean and run very efficiently. If staying at a Baden-baden hotel, be aware that ALL hotels have to charge a little city tax that was €2-3 so to compensate for that, they give you a Baden-baden discount pass card that will get you an extra hour of time inside for free (so you pay for 2 hours and get 3). The most expensive part was the towel rental so if it's an option for you - being your own towel and save some money! We felt so, so relaxed and just great after about 2 hours here. I would absolutely recommend a visit here.
We spent the day relaxing at this renowned Baden-Baden spa. It was a much needed day of self-care after Jet-setting across multiple countries for several days prior. The spa is reminiscent of old Roman baths with its saunas and thermal pools. Everything is so peaceful. There are various saunas indoors and one outside in a garden, steam baths, etc. All of the water comes from local springs. The bathing area goes from indoor to outdoor. The indoor portion is under a domed, glass roof. You can easily swim from inside to outside. The hot springs are incredible. I have done all those is spa days but this one really allowed me to let go and not think about anything other than enjoyment. This visit was everything I'd hoped for in this spa town of Baden-Baden. read more

Schade! read more
This is a famous spa in Baden Baden that is very touristy. Unfortunately it was a bit of a disappointment. Firstly the entrance where you pay was hectic and the people who work there clearly don't want to be there. The locker rooms are super weird. It's communal changing rooms with little stalls and then you put your stuff in lockers that open with the bracelet with sensors. Then you walk into the pool areas. There's no signs for where that is and it was confusing. Then the actual pool area is more like a rec center and not a spa. The floors were also disgusting and full of hair and dirt. I would not walk around any of it without my sandals. The pools were full of children and it was anything but relaxing. The steam rooms were a bit more relaxing but were strange. I enjoyed the outdoor hot tub, the cold plunge, and the waterfall pool inside the most. All of The pools were incredibly crowded. The shower rooms where you can change were also really gross and I showered at the hotel instead of at the facility. The saunas upstairs were nude which was fine but it wasn't gendered which made me feel uncomfortable. Especially because everyone in there walks around with their towels on their shoulders instead of around their waists like normal people. My friend ended up staying for a couple saunas and said it wasn't good at all (she is Finnish though). The cafe had some food and drink options but it didn't look very good and was overpriced. Not impressed at all, but it was an interesting experience and I'm glad I tried it out. Overall there were parts of it that I enjoyed but I think advertising it as a spa is a stretch. read more
Had an excellent experience here. I recommend going in the early morning so you can experience the baths when they're nearly empty. On Thursdays, you get an extra hour free if you show up before 10. read more

Beaucoup de personnel parle français. read more

When in Baden-Baden, do as the Romans did and take some time to go to the thermal baths. I went here recently on a trip to Europe when an old friend and I wanted to catch up. The city served as a mid-point and the baths were the perfect place to relax and converse at the same time. For just €23, we had 3 hours to float, visit the saunas, go into the steam rooms, and even dip in the side-by-side hot and cold tubs (good for stimulating the muscles and circulation, they say). A waterproof wrist band keeps track of when you entered and also allows you to get into your full-sized locker (just don't forget which locker you have like we did ... oops....) If you have entry to the sauna, be forewarned that it's a no swimsuit area, although you can keep a towel wrapped around you to hide any wobbly bits that you don't want anyone to see. Truth be told, everyone else is in their birthday suit on the second floor, so nobody will look twice if that's how you want to walk around. If you plan to go, pack your own towel and a pair of cheap flip flops. Bring things to get yourself ready (makeup for women -- hair dryers are provided) once you're done. And American Express is gladly accepted, which made my day on my visit! read more

I would probably like this place better if they didn't call it a "spa". The whole experience was not bad and I did enjoy myself but it wasn't a spa experience really. Main floor thermal baths: Due to the fact that they allow children (7 years and older) into the baths, who yell - splash - generally cause a racket, I'm not really a fan. It was more like a water park than a traditional spa. Upstairs sauna area: Completely different experience than the rowdy downstairs it's hard to believe it's the same establishment! It was the very relaxing, quiet, clean and calm - just what I was hoping for. They have so many saunas, each of them different and magical in their own way. It's hard to pick a favorite but I think the log fire one out in the garden would be mine. I can just imagine how wonderful it would be during the snow in the winter. The sauna upstairs is completely in the nude, but you can wrap a towel around yourself if you don't fancy strolling around completely naked. I would recommend bringing two towels, one for sitting and wrapping yourself and one to dry off when u are completely finished. I would also recommend going early in the day to avoid the crowds, we arrived at 930 and it was busy but not terrible. When we left at 12:30 the line for tickets was huge and it was already packed inside. If they did adult only times, this place would be a 10/10 read more

Baden-Baden for those with kids or who are uncomfortable with nudity. Caracalla is the "modern" bath complex - most of it is clothed, kids are allowed and it's not such a strict atmosphere as Freidrichsbad. It's also about 1/2 the price. My trip here was to the shop to pick up some presents. The shop is small but manages to stock an amazing amount of goods including drinks, snacks, cigarettes, swimwear, souvenirs and of course bath products. There is an extensive line of products available that are made for use in the baths like scrubs, soaps and lotions. The lady working here is extremely nice and helpful. read more

OMG BEST EXPERIENCE America is doing spas all wrong, this replica design features new blending with old Roman baths. Every inch of my body was massaged by water jets. I could have spent all day here but wanted to see other things so I did 4 hours. The first outdoor pool has a strong current that keeps everyone moving (pretty quickly) in a circle, soo much fun. Multiple different water temperatures and styles in each pool, must do every single one or your missing out! The sauna is upstairs and naked only. The ages were mixed and no small children allowed. Must wear a suite in the pools. Locker rooms great setup but not like a US spa. For 19E, I would have paid 100! Take all day here. read more
named after the the roman emperor Caracalla who took to the waters around 217 AD, this modern sporting spa is in the foothills of the Black Forest in Baden-baden (bath in Deutsch). of the town's two popular baths, this one is fun, social, good indoor/outdoor, family-friendly and better in the sunshine. best to come during the week as the whole town seems to be here during weekends. for 17€/3hrs (bring towels/suit), soak in the hot&cold mineral water pools fed from hot springs deep in the florentine mountains, swim in the huge all weather 'river', massage in hydrotheraphy waterfalls, sweat in the wood fire and steam saunas, lounge in the solarium. upstairs is strictly nude and strictly enforced. absolutely amazeballs soaking outside in the hot springs in snowy winter. go explore this wonderland. read more

One of my favorite places in the world. I call it the world's coolest swimming pool/sauna complex. The first level is family friendly. All ages.. older people enjoying the therapeutic water and in the evening the occasional younger couple on a date kissing in the warm water. Waterfalls. Water jets. Hot. Cold. Swirling. Ultra-jets. Steam. Aroma. Everything. Upstairs children are not allowed. Nudity for all (it is men/women shared) is required. There are something like 7 or 8 different saunas that you leisurely rotate between/among. There is a small sundeck. There are showers, a hot tub and even a couple tanning beds. You get an electronic wristband when you pay the entrance fee. The band will open your locker. $25 or so for 3 hrs (although you can stay more/less for approx $4.50/hour). Includes a locker into which you put your cloths, etc.. Put your suit on and then you go to the pools. Clean, friendly. Also underground parking - or a very easy walk up the path from the center of town. read more

We drove from frankfurt to baden baden over xmas to visit this spa. It has a large pool which connects to a nice outdoors one, but the place was so busy and full of people, that we couldnt even use the steamroom. We stood in the steam room until we gave up. We also couldnt seat on the seats under the heat lamps near each other, it was like playing musical chairs. We have visited other thermal water spas in spain and japan and we were expecting a fancier place. This is an overpack, high volume of people place. read more

There are actually two spas here, the Friedrichsbad and the Caracalla Therme Spa. The Friedrichsbad spa is for those who have no qualms with nudity. Entry to either can be booked at Caracalla's modern facility or 150 meters away at the old Romanesque Friedrichsbad. My wife and I had driven from Hausern to Baden Baden for our last few days in the Black Forrest and had booked spinal massages a couple of days before we were to fly back home. I had Mathias work on me. It was the best 90 minutes spent straightening and aligning my back. I only regret not having booked an additional session. The baths at Caracalla Therme were closed for renovations, but are to open June 24th. read more

What could be better than a 4,000 square foot heated swimming complex for kids? NOTHING! Of course, it's really for adults, but kids 7 and older are allowed at Caracalla, unlike the other 3 thermal bath pools in Baden-Baden. Our family could not have asked for a better time. Swimming from inside to outside, sitting under the water falls, moving from one temperature pool to another, sitting in front of the jets, lounging on the tile "sofas" in the water, and following it up with a plate of charcuterie, fries, and beer in town afterwards ... ahh, this is liv'n! We're already talking about returning for a longer vacation. One day at the spa was simply NOT enough! We also rented a great house nearby, which you can do by going on airbnb.com. Highly recommended, as ours gave us plenty of space to spread out and the Black Forest for hiking was steps away from our backyard. But back to Caracalla, Parking is validated for free for up to 2 hours underneath or you can park in a lot across the street. Walking distance to tons of great shopping, cafes, pubs, restaurants, everything really. Bring your own towel or you have to pay to rent one (we found this out when we showed up with no towels). You can also buy bathing suits, etc. if you forgot yours. Final summation: If you're anywhere within HOURS of Baden-Baden, you MUST come here and plan to stay for at least several days!!! It's worth it! read more

Read reviews prior to going here and was prepared for the most part with towels and flip flops in hand. American speaking staff who were friendly and straight to the point. Experience started by waiting in line to pay for how many hours you would be visiting and an option for an all day pass. We chose three hours which by the end felt was very sufficient. Your given a watch like bracelet that allows you to open and close a locker where you store your belongings , and also allows you to purchase things and pay for them later by swiping the band. There is one large main pool. One very hot and very cold pool and two outdoor pools which you actually swim into from the inside. One was 90 degrees the other 95 degrees. There was two different types of steam rooms and a nude steam room upstairs. We enjoyed the hotter pool outside the main large pool inside the very hot and very cold pools and the aroma therapy steam room. The experience was very good and we finished off by laying under warning infrared lamps. Just be aware that if you stay pat the hours you chose you are charge 70 cents per minute and I could see that adding up quickly. However for three hours for two people it only cost 19 euros. To book a massage you need to call well in advance as they book up very quickly and I heard they charge you for towels if you don't bring your own. This is more like a water park than a spa, don't expect to feel relaxed after as it's very loud and kid friendly. read more

Great spa. Very fun and unique experience. We had great massages there as well.

Good, but probably not in a very cold winter (like this one) then its not that enjoyable. Also quite expensive 14-20 Euros for 2-4 hours. Someone said, Bad Wildbad is far better, maybe you should check this out alternatively. read more

Overall not impressed. Felt more like a public pool than a spa. There are WAY better spas and thermal baths in Germany. Definitely don't waste your money on any spa treatments. We had a facial and a massage, which were awful!!!!! If you want to really relax while in Baden Baden, go to the Friedrichsbad instead. read more

We booked a massage on our first day to the spa - we were greeted at the pay station by a lady, although pleasant enough, seemed impatient at having to explain the process of check in/check out to us - almost as if she seemed to think we should know! The massage was booked for 2PM and we were told to be there 15 minutes early which we were. We were left waiting for at least 20 minutes and then taken into a room where the two staff members scarcely greeted us. I was physically uncomfortable to the point where I hesitated and reconsidered whether I wished to continue. Neither of the staff members thought it worth their while to speak to us - the massage itself was poor - frankly more of 'pat down' than a massage - I just sensed a lack of effort, interest and commitment generally. The baths themselves were nice, but more generally - I found myself questioning the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the place. My changing space was a little icky from several uses and there was a slight odour in the ladies room too. Take it as you will - but know that you are entering the Walmart of Spa treatments and thermal baths when you enter... read more
